QVC Host Albany Irvin Exits Network

December 3, 2016

We’re heading toward the end of the year, when people’s contracts with their employers may or may not be renewed, or folks decide on their own they want to fly the coop.

And so QVC host Albany Irvin announced Friday on Facebook that she is leaving the No. 1 home shopping channel.

“Hi friends, today I wanted to share the news with you that I have decided to leave QVC to spend more time with my family,” she posted.

“I’ll miss you and our time together, but I’m so thankful for your friendship and support over the years. It has meant more to me than you know. I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life, and wish you all the best! XO”

We checked, and her name is already off QVC’s website.

Evine Watch Guy Tim Temple Gone

September 30, 2016

Tim Temple has left the house as an Evine host.

Temple, a frequent participant on the home-shopping-watch network segments on timepieces, announced his departure on Facebook on Tuesday.

“Effective as of today Evine and myself are parting company,” he wrote. “Have always been and remain grateful for the support and friendship I have felt from you the viewership over the years. Please feel free to stay in touch here via social media; wishing you all well moving forward.”

The exit of Temple, an accomplished photographer, prompted a flood of comments from his fans and criticism of Evine. Temple is a veteran of both HSN and Shop At Home.

We have to admit that we’re not that familiar with him since we don’t watch many watch shows. But we do admit to having an Invicta from Evine that we wear nearly every day.

“So sorry to hear this Tim,” someone posted. “Your wit, knowledge and the energy you brought to your watch shows was a pure joy to watch and experience. Best of luck in everything to come.”

“I have always held you in the highest regard, not solely due to Evine, but more because of your knowledge of watches/horology and the fact that you’ve always been a multi-faceted artist,” wrote another fan.

“There are clearly not enough people like you anymore…musicians, photographers, etc. Evine has been slipping for quite some time but now it seems as though they’ve really f’d up.”

Yet another fan posted, “You were the best host they had. Period. I truly hope you go onto another network, stay in the business of broadcasting and particularly marketing watches, various brands perhaps. You are going to be missed on the EVINE broadcasts. This is not good news to wake up to. Meanwhile, yes, I know I speak for many when I say we will stay connected with you on social media.”

TVSN Host Geoff Cowan Invades HSN

July 25, 2016

OK, what’s the story on Geoff Cowan hosting on HSN?

We noticed HSN jewelry vendor Carol Brodie talking about being on the air Sunday with a new face, “Geoff,” and so we looked him up.

Cowan isn’t listed on HSN.com as a host. But we found his Facebook page, which states that he is a TVSN presenter who lives in Sydney, Australia.

TVSN stands for TV Shopping Network, and it is an Aussie shopping channel.

Don’t know if Cowan is on a tryout or has landed a permanent gig on HSN.

Ex-Evine Live Host Charged With Macy’s Ripoff

April 14, 2016

Here’s another black eye for Evine Live. Jennifer Kline, described as a former host on the home shopping network, has been charged with swindling Macy’s.

The Hennepin Attorney in Minnesota issued a press release on the charges against Kline. We don’t remember her as a host, but Kline’s Facebook page describes her as a beauty and style expert on Evine Live.

From what we make of the case, Kline is accused of buying a bunch of designer duds at Macy’s, and then returning a batch of clothes for a $5,000 refund at the Mall of America. But she allegedly took the tags off the new clothes, put them on a batch of old clothes, and returned the swapped-out old items.

Here is the text of the press release on Kline, who is an ex-Mrs. America.

Former Mrs. America charged with swindle at Macy’s

A former Mrs. America and home shopping network host was charged with theft by swindle in a scheme that cost Macy’s more than $5,000, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Tuesday.

Jennifer Susan Kline, 50, of Wayzata was scheduled to make her first court appearance Tuesday afternoon. Kline was crowned Mrs. America in 1989 and had been a host on ShopNBC/EVINE Live.

According to the criminal complaint, a Macy’s asset protection detective contacted Edina Police in early December to report that on Nov. 5, Kline purchased $2,884 worth of designer clothing items from the Southdale store. The next day, she purchased another $2,906 worth of clothes from the same store. On Nov. 11 and 30, Kline returned numerous articles of clothing to Macy’s Mall of America store and was refunded $5,501.

The Macy’s detective was told about the returns and examined the returned clothes. He discovered that the tags and labels had been switched from the new clothes Kline purchased and attached to the returned clothing. On further examination, the returned clothes were dirty or showed other signs of having been worn, the complaint states.

Edina Police executed a search warrant at Kline’s home and recovered 24 items of clothing purchased on Nov. 5 and 6 and supposedly returned on Nov. 11 and 30, according to the complaint.

Ex-QVC Host Lisa Robertson Debuts Website

February 14, 2016

We guess we finally know know former QVC host Lisa Robertson’s grand scheme — or part of it — is after leaving the home shopping network a year ago last December.

The comely brunette had launched her own website, or as she calls it, “It’s a blog, it’s a video blog, it’s a magazine, it’s a…VLOGAZINE!”

Home

On her home page, Robertson introduced herself:

From being in front of a camera for almost 25 years I have learned how to connect with people and how a woman can present herself well.

From working with the best make up artists and beauty experts I have learned what the possibilities are and what makes a difference. From working with numerous designers I have learned what is flattering on women and what makes a quality garment.

From creating and designing the G.I.L.I. line for the first 3 years of its existence, I have learned that success is in the details, and that it is important to do what you are passionate about.

She concluded by saying,

This page is the first step in a new journey. One that will be about the fun things, the things that make us laugh and the things that make us feel beautiful. The things that spur our imagination and make us want to realize our potential. The things that give us a momentary smile to the things that plant the seed that changes our future. From the simple to the important, I hope it is a journey we can take together.

The site includes recipes. as well as sections on beauty, wellness and fashion.

Apparently, this isn’t all that Robertson has cooking,

“I’m so excited!” she posted on Facebook. “This is the first step of our new journey. There is much more to come.”

Where Or Where Is New QVC Host Katie McGee?

December 16, 2015

We haven’t seen her in action yet, but QVC apparently has a new host, Katie McGee.

Some QVC person, we can’t remember who, posted this on Facebook.

“While you were sleeping new host Katie McGee made her QVC debut! She’s super cool, super sweet and super excited to get to know you – so check her out in the wee hours of the morning and give her a big welcome!”

But then some odds things happened when we tried to look into this. First, as far as we can tell, McGee doesn’t yet have her own Facebook page as a host for the home shopping network.

And when we went to QVC.com’s “Meet Our Hosts” section to see what it had to say about McGee, that page appears to have been revised since we last looked.

It does not list all the network’s hosts, but rather suggests a handful of hosts, and vendors, who people should follow. What’s up with that?

New Host Natasha Chugtal Arrives At Evine Live

October 4, 2015

Evine Live has a new host that jewelry designer Chuck Clemency seems to think is a real pistol: Natasha Chugtal. She made her debut last week.

Apparently a woman of color, and the only home shopping network that could use some color more than Evine Live is Jewelry Television, Chugtal is a former newscaster.

NATASHA

She left a job at CBS-affiliate WTVY in Dothan, Ala., to come north to Minnesota. Hope she’s ready to freeze her keister off. But we guess it won’t be too much of a shock since she’ apparently a native of the northern state.

http://www.wtvy.com/

When Clemency was on-air on Thursday a caller said she was a fan of Chugtal, having watched her on the local TV station.

As far as we could see, Evine Line hasn’t added Chugtal to its host listing on its website. Are they waiting to see how she works out.

New Host Meg Watters Prewitt Joins Jewelry Television

August 10, 2015

We got to eyeball Jewelry Television’s new host, Meg Watters Prewitt, on Sunday night.

Prewitt, a pretty young blonde, was teamed with JTV veteran Sharon Scott, who repeatedly introduced the newbie.

We couldn’t find Prewitt on JTV’s website as a host, but we located her Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/meg.w.prewitt

One of her past gigs was as a spokesmodel for Toyota of Bristol and for Ben Finch Photography.

We wish her luck, but and hope she survives the revolving door that this home shopping network has become.

Host Michele Lau Is Out The Door At JTV

June 25, 2015

It looks like another Jewelry Television host has bit the dust: Michele Lau. Thanks for the tip, Lovie.

Apparently Lau was on the air Monday night, and her Facebook page didn’t offer any hint of her impending departure from the network.

Michele Lau is the latest host to exit JTV

But our tipster noticed that Lau’s photo was off the JTV host page, and Lau confirmed that she was gone from the network, as well.

“Life took an unexpected turn yesterday and I am no longer with JTV,” she posted on her personal Facebook Tuesday. “Please continue to follow this page and ‘share’ it, please! I love you guys and look forward to seeing you on the air again soon! Love, Michele xxx'”

HSN host Kathy Wolf offered her support to Lau on Facebook.

“Michele I’m sad to read this,” Wolf posted. “Please feel free to reach out to me via phone when you’re ready.”

On Wednesday Lau posted a photo of a butterfly that had landed on her screen door.

“Look who stopped by this morning to offer support,” she wrote. “For those that know me well you know how special butterflies are to me. I apologize that I am not responding to you all, please forgive me. I will reach out soon and love and appreciate you more than you know.”

HSN Readies New Model Host Amy Bravo For Duty

March 17, 2015

HSN has a new host coming, one with apparently Hispanic roots.

She’s Amy Bravo, who has previously served as a host for HSN’s “Boutique” on segments on Univision, the Spanish-language broadcast giant. Bravo has also been a model on the English-language HSN.

On Facebook veteran HSN host Colleen Lopez posted an item about Bravo.

“I could not be more excited to introduce you to our newest HSN Host in Training – the beautiful and talented Amy Bravo!!!” Lopez wrote. “As one of our fabulous models for many years, Amy is already part of our HSN family – I’m so proud to watch her spread her wings and fulfill her dreams of becoming a Host.
