Not For Nothin’, But ‘Jerseylicious’ And The Gatsby Girls Will Back May 15

April 4, 2011

The Jersey-based reality show that we wrote about before anyone had heard of it, “Jerseylicious,” will be back for its third season May 15.

Here is the press release about that gang in Green Brook, N.J.

THE STYLE NETWORK’S #1 SERIES “JERSEYLICIOUS” RETURNS FOR 20 ALL-NEW EPISODES IN
THE MOST DRAMATIC SEASON YET BEGINNING SUNDAY, MAY 15 AT 8PM ET/PT

Tearful and Tantrum-Filled Two-Part Reunion Special Hosted By Vivica A. Fox Will
Air Sunday, May 8 and May 15 in Advance of New Season Premiere

Los Angeles, April 4, 2011 – The Style Network’s record-breaking hit series “Jerseylicious” returns for a third season complete with cat fights, diva behavior and some surprising life-changing makeovers.

The new season of the one-hour comedy docu-soap will include 20 all-new episodes that promise to bring more of the big hair, outrageous outfits and larger than life New Jersey personalities that viewers have fallen head-over-high-heels in love with.

From N.J.’s “Queen of Mean” Tracy and sassy makeup artist Olivia to the salon’s ab-tastic intern Filippo and overly eccentric Glam Fairy, Alexa, there is no way to avoid the blow-ups, blow-outs and just plain coming to blows when these proud
Garden Staters get together at the Gatsby Salon.

Jerseylicious Season 3, Olivia, Alexa and Tracey

Don’t miss the season three premiere of Style’s highest-rated and most-watched series ever when “Jerseylicious” returns Sunday, May 15 at 8pm ET/PT.

Also tune-in Sunday, May 8 at 9pm ET/PT to catch up with your favorite New Jersey divas in part one of the “Jerseylicious: Wild and Untamed,” a tan-tastic reunion special, hosted by Vivica A. Fox (“Kill Bill: Vol. 1,” “Dancing with the Stars”). Part two will air on Sunday, May 15 at 7pm ET/PT, leading into the new season premiere.

During this new season of “Jerseylicious,” the budding stylists and business owners are at a crossroads in their professional careers while also attempting to navigate their personal lives, which have more road blocks, pot holes, breakdowns and weave-ing than the New Jersey Turnpike.

Season three picks up with tensions still high after Gayle’s Gatsby Salon won the coveted trophy for Best Hair & Make-up” at New Jersey Fashion Week – the sexy sister to New York Fashion Week where couture gets wild with the help of animal print and Aquanet – beating out rivals Alexa’s Glam Fairies and Anthony’s newly reopened salon.

The drama will continue to unravel as the cast’s personal feelings collide with work obligations. The Gatsby attempts to break the Guinness World Record for most haircuts in an eight hour period by hosting a Style-A-Thon and enlists Anthony
to help, but when Alexa show up unannounced, personal drama threatens to ruin The Gatsby’s goal.

The salons also venture into unfamiliar territory when the stylists participate in a bridal expo and attend a multi-cultural hair show.

Today, hair products and lip glosses; tomorrow, the world – or at least all of Central Jersey.

Catch up with the most unpredictable cast on television:

Olivia is finally growing up. Back together with her boyfriend Mikey, she makes up her mind to never let her toxic relationships with Tracy, Briella or Doria get in the way of achieving her dreams.

This season, looking to take her career to the next level, Olivia launches an on-location styling service provided
through the Gatsby. The real challenge begins when Gayle wants Tracy to be part of the styling service team. Olivia may be ready to move on from the drama, but Tracy has other plans in mind. Let round three of the catfight begin!

Tracy decides that the Gatsby is a much better place to develop her career and cuts professional ties with Alexa’s Glam Fairy business. Despite choosing to work at the Gatsby, her hatred for her colleague Olivia grows more and more each day. Olivia’s streak of good luck in the romance and career departments only adds fuel to the fire. Even Tracy’s onetime BFF Gigi is drawn to Olivia’s positive energy.

All this tension comes to a head when Gayle insists that Tracy work under Olivia during a Gatsby event and Tracy has a run-in with her ex — Olivia’s current boyfriend Mikey — for the first time since their traumatizing breakup.

Gigi is embracing her new slim figure and is ready to let loose. After her recent breakup with Frankie, Gigi is single for the first time in her life and is slowly discovering that she is a strong, independent woman. However, with Christy’s perpetual talk about her baby and Olivia rekindling her romance with Mikey, Gigi begins to wonder if she would rather settle down and start her own family…and if breaking up with Frankie was really the right thing to do.

Mother-daughter team Gayle and Christy are still beaming from the Gatsby winning the “Best Hair & Make-up” award at New Jersey Fashion Week and relishing the fact that they beat their rival, The Glam Fairy.

And now that Gayle has her dramatic stylists under control — for the time being, she is ready to expand her salon and make the Gatsby the most sought-after beauty destination in New Jersey.

While Christy, the salon manager, is preoccupied with her new role of mother, Gayle enters the dating scene and looks for new business opportunities. She reaches out to Anthony about partnering with her on an exciting venture as expansion is a great way to build their beauty empire.

Unfortunately, Gayle’s business relationship with Anthony drives a rift between the ambitious mother and her stressed-out daughter who is starting to feel left behind and begins to question whether she can successfully play the roles of both mother and salon manager.

Anthony’s newly renovated salon is open for business and flourishing. The only trouble is his four-chair space can’t accommodate his booming business. When Gayle makes him an offer he can’t refuse, Anthony is once again back to splitting his time between his salon and all the drama at the Gatsby.

He is welcomed with open arms by intern Filippo who quickly puts Anthony on a diet to try to get him into better shape. Additionally, Anthony gets bit by the local political bug and considers running for office, and after much discussion with
his wife Patty, their family may be expanding too.

Alexa “The Glam Fairy” Prisco still has her mind set on making the world a more gorgeous place…one smokey eye at a time. Her workspace, the Glam Factory, is thriving, even as she learns how to manage her own group of misfit stylists, but that doesn’t stop her from swinging by the Gatsby Salon once in a while to stir up some drama.

Alexa still holds a grudge against Gayle after last season’s larger-than-life blow-up, and when she finds out about Gatsby’s new on-location service infringing upon The Glam Fairy’s territory, Alexa’s resentment towards her business competitor reaches epic proportions. It doesn’t look like Alexa and Gayle will be Facebook friends any time soon.

Book your appointment now for an all-new season of “Jerseylicious,” beginning Sunday, May 15 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on The Style Network. And prepare to get the inside scoop with the cast in a two-part reunion special, “Jerseylicious: Wild and Untamed,” hosted by Vivica A. Fox on Sunday, May 8 at 8:00pm ET/PT and Sunday, May 15 at 7:00pm ET/PT.

“Jerseylicious” is produced by Endemol USA for The Style Network. Three-time Emmy winner Alex Duda is the Executive Producer, joined by Style Executive Producers Sarah Weidman and Merah Chung.

‘Jerseylicious’ Crew Offers Lessons On Being A Jersey Girl And A Parkway Paison

February 16, 2011

As dyed-in-the-wool Jersey Girls, we decided to run this press release from the Style Network, home of “Jerseylicious,” verbatim. Olivia Blois Sharpe and Alexa Prisco of that Green Brook, N.J.-based reality show are going to guide viewers on how to be Jersey Girls. We’re not amateurs, but we may tune in.

We knew it was authentic when one of the final lines reads, “Not for nothing.” Spoken like a true girl from south Bergen County, like Lodi or Garfield.

We’re excited to hear what Style has to tell US about what exactly makes a Jersey Girl.

Jersey devils Olivia Blois Sharpe and Alexa Prisco

Here’s the release:

Welcome to the Jungle!

If you have ever wondered what makes “Jerseylicious” the hottest destination on television, then look no further! “Jerseylicious: Inside the Jungle,” an all-new special episode premiering Feb. 20th at 8pm ET/PT on the Style Network, puts the wild and zany stylists of New Jersey’s most dramatic salon under a microscope and reveals a never-before-seen side of the Garden State.

Much like an investigative documentary, this special explores what exactly makes up a “Jersey Girl,” from her fabulous jewelry and manicured talons, to her war paint and smokey eyes and of course, larger than life busts. Viewers also will be schooled in what it takes to be a “Jersey Girl’s” male counterpart – or “Parkway Paison,” by teaching the etiquette of man-scaping, eyebrow waxing, body hair removal and how to get bulging biceps.

The “Jerseylicious” stylists — Olivia, Alexa and Filippo along with the rest of the crew will guide viewers into the natural habitat of the “Jersey-ians” to learn more about their fascinating culture, including their feasting on “disco fries,” fist-pumping dance moves, addiction to all things animal print and what it means to be “tan-orexic.”

Finally, “Jerseylicious” fans will have the answers to burning questions, such as how do “Jersey Girls” act outside of New Jersey?

What exactly is a Glam Fairy?

How much tease is too much tease?

What’s the future of Gigi and Frankie’s relationship?

How many bras can a “Jersey Girl” wear at one time?

And, how did Tracy become the most vicious predator in New Jersey?

Not for nothing, yous won’t want to miss “Jerseylicious: Inside the Jungle” when the special episode premieres on The Style Network, Sunday, Feb. 20 at 8pm ET.

Suggestion To QVC Jewelry Maven Joan Rivers: Rename Your ‘Fashion Police’ Segment ‘Starlet Or Harlot?’

September 15, 2010

We know from her documentary that QVC jewelry queen Joan Rivers is a workaholic, but she still continues to amaze us with all her ventures.

In the latest expansion of her activities, the E! “Fashion Police” specials that Rivers often hosts have became a weekly series. We caught a repeat of the first one Monday, while we were at the gym.

Rivers makes her catty comments along with a panel that includes a slimmed-down Kelly Osbourne, E! and Style Network whatever Giuliana Rancic and celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos. The show’s normal time slot is Friday’s at 10:30 p.m.

According to E!, “Backed up by her chorus of ‘couture cops,’ Kelly, Giuliana and George, Rivers and company will cut a swath
through the jungle of tacky celebrity fashion to reveal who fizzled, who sizzled and who should have just stayed home in a housecoat. They will cover the good, the bad, and most assuredly the ugly, along with everything in between.”

Joan Rivers is captain of the newly expanded 'Fashion Police'

On the installment we saw, Rivers blasted Julia Roberts for the kimono-like dress that the actress wore to the debut of “Eat, Pray, Love” in Japan. The comedian made a comment to the effect that Roberts’ dress was the biggest bomb to hit Japan since Hiroshima.

The panel liked some of Jessica Alba’s looks, and hated others. Alba can do no wrong in our book, since we share the same birthday, April 28.

It’s obvious that Rivers hates anything Miley Cyrus wears, but thinks Taylor Swift is a fashion icon, along with Natalie Portman.

One of the show’s segments is “Starlet or Streetwalker?,” which is exactly what it sounds like. But we suggest a better name for that bit: “Starlet or Harlot?” On the episode we saw, the Fashion Police panel pegged a hot-pants wearing woman as a hooker, and when the woman’s face was revealed it was Kate Gosselin.

Some of the show’s other segments include “Red Carpet Roll-Out,” which takes viewers to star-studded events around the world, and “Rack Report,” which showcases those female celebrities who are carrying more than their fair share up top.

The fashion police also hit the streets to assess the style choices of celebrities out and about in the “Caught Casual” segment, and will skewer who show a bit too much flesh in “Skin Flick.”

Other segments include “What the Hell Happened to…” and “What Were You Thinking?” And the fierce foursome will spotlight some of Hollywood’s tastiest tresses in “Hair Play.”

Finally, some of the hottest names in fashion will stop by the set to bring the latest style news and their own personal opinion to the debate.

The “Fashion Police” team will also visit TV and film sets to get an inside look at the wardrobes of today’s hot celebs.

Joan’s commentary and her three fellow “police” will close each episode as she runs down the final ‘best and the worst’ of the week.

The Gatsby Girls, Who Are Also Jersey Girls, Are Back Tonight With Season 2 Of ‘Jerseylicious’

September 5, 2010

We know we’ve beem remiss in posting, but we had some other duties to attend to, like writing an update on the impact of “Jerseylicious” on The Gatsby Salon in Green Brook, N.J. Here’s our story on NewJerseyNewsroom.com.

The Style Network’s hit “Jerseylicious” has its Season 2 debut tonight at 8 p.m., and we interviewed by phone the mother-and-daughter team that owns and runs The Gatsby, Gayle Giacomo and Christy Pereira. We sent written questions to Tracy DiMarco and Alexa “The Glam Fairy” Prisco by e-mail, and got their responses via e-mail.

For those who’ve been living under a rock, “Jerseylicious” is one of a string of hit reality shows set in our beloved Garden State, and it had some dust-ups similar to those in MTV’s “Jersey Shore” and Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

The Jerseylicious cast photo, with our sister's blond stylist Briella fourth in from the left, and Ann's buddy Filippo on the far right, for Season 2

In the first season Giacomo hired new staff to boost business at her newly renovated salon. That included bringing on hairstylist DiMarco and makeup artist Olivia Blois Sharpe, who got into many a shouting match in Season 1.

We feel a special affinity for this show because we went to The Gatsy to interview Giacomo, Pereira, Sharpe and hair stylist Anthony Lombardi before the show debuted last March. We didn’t know if it would be a success or not, but it turned out to be a hit for Style.

Our friend Ann's pizza parlor friend from Staten Island, Filippo, on the left and Anthony Lombardi

And there is that six-degrees-of-separation thing, too.

One of Sharpe’s friends and roommates is Briella Calafiore, who is also in the show. Briella is my sister’s hairstylist at the Fusion salon in Denville, N.J., where we also get our hair done. We have the business card that Briella gave us sitting right here.

And our friend Ann just saw Filippo, who is Lombardi’s flirtatious assistant at The Gatsby, at the pizza parlor that his family owns on Staten Island. Ann has known Filippo and his family for years.

Anyway, we’re rooting for all of the Jersey girls in “Jerseylicious.”

Tracy Looks A Lot Like Olivia In New Season Of ‘Jerseylicious’

August 28, 2010

Christy in Season 2

“Jerseylicious” is coming back Sept. 5, and some of the Jersey Girls will look a lot different in Season 2.

If you don’t want anymore info about the Style Network reality show, we’re giving you a spoiler alert: Stop reading.

First of all, half of the mother-daughter team that run The Gatsby Salon is pregnant. Christy Pereira is with child, and looks fantastic. Her mom Gayle Giacomo, the matriarch of the Green Brook beauty parlor where “Jerseylicioius” takes place, is thrilled.

Tracy's new look looks like Olivia

But almost more surprising than Christy’s pregnancy is the new Tracy DiMarco. The busty, big-haired blonde hairstylist who makes makeup artist Olivia Blois Sharpe’s life miserable now almost looks like her.

Tracy is rocking some dark hair that is very straight and very flat — like Olivia’s.

As a friend pointed out, it also likes like sweet hair stylist Gigi Liscio is slimmer this season. She also has coppery highlights, which we hope to duplicate during our next trip to the Fusion Spa and Salon in Denville, N.J., where Olivia’s roommate and “Jerseylicious” cast member Briella Calafiore works. Briella does our sister Karen’s hair.

‘Jerseylicious’ Will Be Back Sept. 5, And One Of The Jersey Girls Is Pregnant

August 5, 2010

“Jerseylicious” will be back for a second season Sept. 5, and there’s a new cast member.

Christy Pereira, half of the mother-and-daughter team that runs The Gatsby Salon that’s the stage for “Jerseylicious,” is pregnant! And The Style Network says it will be there to “capture the joy” of the baby’s arrival.

Does that mean the camera will be in the delivery room?

Anyway, the second season sounds like a doozy. Here’s our NewJerseyNewsroom.com story on the premiere.

By the way, we may be seeing Olivia Blois Sharpe’s blonde friend and roommate, stylist Briella Calafiore, today when we get our color touched up at the Fusion Salon in Denville, N.J. Briella works there.

Check out this cute press release that The Style Network issued Wednesday.

The Jerseylicious gang for Season 2

DAILY BLOWOUTS, SPRAY TANS AND CAT FIGHTS ARE BACK WHEN SEASON TWO OF THE HIT REALITY SERIES “JERSEYLICIOUS” PREMIERES SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 AT 8PM ON THE STYLE NETWORK

Cameras Return to New Jersey Salon for More Attitude, More Drama and More One-of-a-Kind Jersey Style in 20 All New Episodes

Los Angeles, August 4, 2010 – In this New Jersey salon, the first cut is the meanest and you may leave with a lot more than just a smokey eye!

Everyone’s favorite hair stylists and make-up artists of “Jerseylicious,” Style’s most-watched new series, are back for a second season! Style’s camera’s catch Queen-of-Mean Tracy, her arch enemy Olivia and even “The Glam Fairy” herself at
The Gatsby Salon for more in-your-face drama that will have you saying “OMGawd!”

Twenty, new one-hour episodes, continue to follow the staff of one of New Jersey’s premiere salons where business is hot and the “ex”-tensions are hotter. Season two is full of budding romances, growing friendships, bitter rivalries, plenty of Tracy vs. Olivia hair-raising feuds and even a new baby – don’t miss a minute when “Jerseylicious” premieres Sunday, September 5 at 8:00 p.m. et/pt on The Style Network.

The comedic drama of “Jerseylicious” centers around the high-profile and recently renovated beauty salon run by the mother/daughter management team of Gayle and Christy.

Christy is preggers in Season 2

Making up the salon’s quirky team of experts and experts-in-training are Anthony, an established stylist whose own salon has
recently completed its own renovations; Gigi, a young hairdresser who wants nothing more than to find “the one;” Alexa, one of the top bridal make-up artists in the tri-state area; Olivia, a party girl who is trying to grow up and become a successful makeup artist; Olivia’s biggest rival, Tracy, an aggressive hair stylist who can work magic with a teasing comb and in her free time enjoys tormenting Olivia whom she calls “a cheap knock off version of me”; and Filippo, Anthony’s handsome intern who focuses more on getting phone numbers from beautiful women than working on his craft.

In the premiere episode, the salon’s business is booming with the help of last season’s new additions Olivia, Tracy, Gigi, Anthony and Alexa. High demand, intense hours and personality clashes, however, are taking their toll on the stylists.

Anthony’s newly renovated salon is ready to open for business and he is struggling with leaving his new found family at The Gatsby. Hot-headed Alexa and her newly chosen apprentice Olivia are up to their wings with “Glam Fairy” clients and Gayle is beginning to feel the makeup artists’ absence in the salon. Gayle decides to confront Alexa about her attitude and priorities which causes tension with everyone.

The Glam Fairy Alexa returns

Tracy asks her boyfriend, Lorenzo, who is also Olivia’s ex, for help with a huge event at her beauty school alma mater because she wants to show how she’s grown since graduation, but the night ends a humiliating disaster.

And Christy is beaming with excitement as she is expecting her first child, but she is getting self-conscious of her growing belly. With a little encouragement from her friends and colleagues, she decides to embrace her “baby bump” in a glamorous pregnancy photo-shoot — leopard, lace and all Jersey!

Throughout the season, the dramatic rivalries continue as self-proclaimed “villainess” Tracy continues to clash with makeup-maven Olivia who develops a new love interest that sends Tracy over the edge. Meanwhile, tensions between Gayle and Alexa reach new heights as both business women have conflicting priorities in making their own individual businesses succeed.

In Christy’s absence as she preps for her baby’s arrival, Anthony attempts to interject his own expertise and ideas into the salon’s management which is not received warmly by the bosses.

Men are on the brains of the “Jerseylicious” women as the single ladies of the salon attempt speed-dating and head to Atlantic City to hunt for some hot muscular men, while sweet-as-sugar Gigi starts to question her relationship with
longtime boyfriend Frankie.

Left out by the women, Anthony’s intern, smoothing talking ladies’ man Filippo, decides to take his boss to none-other than the Jersey Shore to show him a fun time. And of course, Style’s cameras will be there to capture the joy as Christy and her husband welcome their first child!

Those stories, as well as a boob job, a pizza tossing contest, a strip show, romances taken to the new levels and even a Jersey invasion of Texas, are just a few of the many not-to-be-missed happenings on the new second season of Jerseylicious.

Get ready to sharpen your acrylics when season two of “Jerseylicious” starts Sunday, September 5 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The Style Network.

Visit ‘Jerseylicious’ Olivia And Tracy’s 46 Lounge, See Jewelry From ‘Real Housewives Of New Jersey,’ Party And Contribute To A Great Cause

June 7, 2010

Tonight you have a chance to do a good deed, drink, get to see great jewelry and party in the favorite club of Olivia Blois Sharpe and Tracy DiMarco of “Jerseylicious.” That’s our idea of a great time.

What’s it all about?

We know Christine Benedict, a cervical cancer survivor from Wayne, N.J., because we profiled her for NewJerseyNewsroom.com. Her home clean-up will be featured June 16 on Style Network’s “Clean House.”

Christine sent us an invite to a benefit tonight, Monday, for the Cure Tay-Sachs Foundation, in memory of Elise ten Berge. The pretty Garden State girl was a victim of this disease.

Christine and her family

Christine’s friend, jewelry designer Zen Jen Mirman, is hosting the charity event at the 46 Lounge in Totowa. N.J., the scene of many a shouting match between Olivia and Tracy on “Jerseylicious,” the Style Network hit. Mirman’s “Zen jewelz by: jen m” pieces were featured on an episode of Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.”

We believe that Zen Jen will be selling her jewely at the benefit, and Christine will be reading tarot cards. She recently read our cards, and was right on the money.

Forgive and forget, the cards said, even if you were betrayed. Mmmmm, we wonder what that refers to? (Christine also told us during our reading that we have a very enjoyable carnal interlude coming up this summer. We can’t wait.)

There will also be entertainment at the Tay-Sachs Foundation benefit, with singer Josh London performing.

See Tracy and Olivia's 46 Lounge

The cover charge for the benefit is $55, which we admit is a little steep. But we’re going, and we’re not working full-time yet, just doing freelance. But it’s a good cause, and a chance to get some good karma cooking.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the 46 Lounge, 300 Route 46, Totowa, N.J. There is a cash bar, and credit cars will be accepted at the door.

Just A ‘Jerseylicious” Thursday In Jersey: Chatting With Briella, Olivia’s Roommate, And Getting A Cut From The Wife Of A Cover Band’s Bon Jovi

June 4, 2010

We had to take care of important business yesterday: Getting those unsightly grey hairs to disappear and trying to get our mop of curls under control. We love our sister Karen’s hair, so we went to her salon, where Briella Calafiore of “Jerseylicous” is a stylist and colorist.

Blonde Briella, first seen in the opening of the premiere episode of “Jerseylicious” sharing disco fries in a diner with Olivia Sharpe Blois, works at the Fusion Spa and Salon on Route 46 in Denville, N.J.

She was in yesterday, busy working on two pretty blondes who came in. You never got to see Briella practice her craft on “Jerseylicious,” since she doesn’t work at ther Gatsby Salon, but we did yesterday. Briella, who was Olivia’s roommate and caused some fireworks with Tracy DiMarco last season on the reality show, is quite talented.

While we were getting our single process done, sitting by a sink, we watched Briella do the hair of a long-haired blonde teen who goes to our alma mater, Parsippany Hills High School. The young lady was going to a prom that night, and Briella did long curls on the back of her hair, and then pulled up the front. It looked great.

Then we were intrigued to see Briella put in long blonde extensions on another women, advising her about how to take care of them. They look pretty dramatic on the client, and we would never guess she was wearing extensions. But we’ll think twcie now about envying any woman with perfect long hair, since it most likely isn’t hers.

We got our hair done by someone who knows the trials and tribulations of having curly hair like us, because she has it, stylist/colorist Michelle Parks. The salon was recently trained in cutting curly hair using the technique that the well-known Manhattan salon Oiudad, which has made curls its speciality, uses, Michelle told us.

She did a great cut, but it will take us a bit of time to get used to going back to our darker hair. Every hairdresser says we should go darker, not blonder, so maybe its wise advice. Maybe it’s best to play up that dark Latina thang, rather than trying to be the tow-haired woman that we are not. But we’re not giving up our highlights.

And since this is Jersey, there had to be a Bon Jovi connection. Michelle’s husband is the lead singer in the premier Bon Jovi tribute band, Slippery When Wet. In fact, Jon Bon Jovi once said that he had heard that Slippery When Wet was the best of the Bon Jovi cover bands, because the singer — Michelle’s hubby — could hit all the high notes.

Michelle does her husband’s hair a la Jon in the height of the era of the hair bands. We told her that we and Karen had met some of the guys, and that we interviewed Jon and Richie Sambora, for two stories we did for NewJerseyNewsroom.com on the group and their documentary, which aired on Showtime.

Back to Briella. “Jerseylicious” was a hit for the Style Network and will be returning for a second season. Briella will be back for Season 2, she told us as we were getting our hair washed.

‘Jerseylicious’ Renewed For Second Season, Hot Off The Press Release

May 6, 2010

Most of the Jerseylicious crew

You heard it here first, folks. Style Network announced Thursday that it was picking up “Jerseylicious,” set in our favorite Green Brook, N.J., salon, for a second season.

Here is the press release:

AFTER RECORD-BREAKING RATINGS, THE STYLE NETWORK GREENLIGHTS SECOND SEASON OF
POPULAR DOCU-SOAP “JERSEYLICIOUS”

Produced by Endemol USA, “Jerseylicious” is Style’s Most-Watched First Season in the Network’s History Among Women 18-34 and Women 18-49

Los Angeles, May 6, 2010 – The Style Network announces a second season pick-up of 10 episodes for its new one-hour comedy docu-soap “Jerseylicious.”

Produced by Endemol USA, “Jerseylicious” follows the lives, loves and 24/7 mayhem of stylists in and out of their high-profile New Jersey salon.

The series, which critics have called “a hair-raising new reality show,” “a cut above the rest” and “a fabulously flashy drama,” airs Sundays at 10pm and the season one finale is slated for May 9. Season two of “Jerseylicious” will debut fall 2010 on Style.

“’Jerseylicious’ is the perfect blend of big personalities, bold style and nonstop drama,” said Salaam Coleman Smith, President, The Style Network. “Style viewers tell us that they love the authenticity of this show and the unapologetic sense of style. We’re excited to see what new escapades and makeover madness season two will bring.”

“We are thrilled with the breakout success of ‘Jerseylicous,’” said David Goldberg, Chairman of Endemol North America. “Our truly unique cast of outspoken and vibrant characters were expertly captured by Alex Duda and the Endemol team in tandem with the collaborative and insightful executives at Style. We’re committed to make season two bigger, better and even more
‘Jerseylicious.’”

Season one of “Jerseylicious” has reached over 9.4 million total viewers since its premiere on March 21 making the series Style’s most-watched first season ever among women 18-34 and women 18-49. “Jerseylicious” outperforms Style’s primetime average by over +80% among households, while it attracts more than twice as many women 18-49 than the norm. The success of Jerseylicious has largely been driven by younger women 18-34, nearly tripling Style’s primetime average series in that demo to date.

The drama at the salon is fueled by Olivia, a young but bold make-up artist who’s trying to make it on her own, and Tracy, a confident hair stylist who loves battling with Olivia for attention – especially over the same man.

The salon is run by the business savvy mother/daughter team of Gayle and Christy who are under enormous pressure to grow the salon’s clientele. Also working at the salon is Gigi, a young hair stylist who wants nothing more than a big Italian wedding and Alexa, one of the top bridal make-up artists in the tri-state area who proudly refers to herself as the “Glam Fairy.”

Rounding out the group is stylist Anthony, who started working at the salon temporarily when his own salon was being renovated, and had no idea what he was about to walk into!

Three-time Emmy winner Alex Duda is Executive Producer for “Jerseylicious.” The series is produced by Endemol USA. David Goldberg is the Chairman of Endemol North America. Sarah Weidman and Merah Chung are Executive Producers for Style.

Despite Jersey Girl Chelsea Handler’s Barbs, ‘Jerseylicious’ Finds A Groove With Second Episode

March 29, 2010

Christy Pereira, left, and her mother and Gatsby Salon owner Gayle Giacomo

A big thumbs-up for last night’s “Jerseylicious” episode, the show’s second on the Style Network.

We saw a lot more about the mother-and-daughter team that runs and manages the Gatsby Salon in Green Brook, N.J. Flame-haired Gayle Giacomo and her daughter Christy Pereira have a lot riding on their move and revamping of their beauty salon. We thought we heard Sunday that millions of dollars at been invested in the project, so the stakes were high.

Giacomo and Pereira can’t afford for the silly feuding between hair stylist Tracy DiMarco and her archrival Olicia Blois Sharpe, a makeup artist, to turn off clients and ruin their business. (Sharpe’s prominently featured roommate Briella, by the way, is my sister Karen’s stylist.)

We loved watching the Gatsby crew trying to deal with that unruly and demanding bachelorette party. And Anthony Lombardi proved he’s a model male again when he tactfully warded off the advances of the bride-to-be, who wanted him to massage her back. Lombardi said he doesn’t even give his wife massages.

As for Gigi Liscio, it’s hard to believe that the scene in the Italian restaurant, where her goombah boyfriend Frankie Buglione almost starts a fight with a waiter, wasn’t scripted in there. Frankie loses his cool, supposedly, after the waiter compliments Liscio on her necklace. Frankie believes the waiter is really eyeing Liscio’s rather ample cleavage, and has a fit. He starts to go after the waiter.

As for Tracy, don’t gloat about that “prize” boyfriend you have, Olivia’s ex- Lorenzo Gangala. You should drop him like a hot potato, especially after he brags about Olivia testing him, by creating a fake identity on Facebook, to see if he would cheat. He failed the test, he tells Tracy, because the photo of the girl on the fake Facebook identity was “hot.”

Tracy thinks it’s funny. Why? In that immortal truth all we women know, a leopard doesn’t change its spots. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

E! Entertainment Television’s tart-tongued Chelsea Handler, comedian and Jersey girl, recently blasted the women on “Jerseylicious” for giving Garden State women a bad name.

We’re thinking people should withhold judgment, from what we saw of Sunday’s episode.
