HSN, Miglin Part Of FX Tale Of Versace Murder

January 30, 2018

If you are a home shopping fan you might want to tune into Wednesday’s episode of “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” on FX. HSN vendor Marilyn Miglin and HSN are part of the chilling story of the serial killer who murdered not only the Italian fashion designer but Miglin’s husband.

The series is about Andrew Cunanan, the sicko who killed Versace and four other men in 1997. We read two accounts of the series that mentioned that one of Cunanan’s victims was Chicago real estate developer Lee Miglin, Marilyn’s husband.

According to the New York Post, actor Mike Farrell portrays “closeted” Lee Miglin, who is killed in his garage.

“Miglin’s widow, Marilyn (Judith Light), consoles herself with appearances on the Home Shopping Network,” the Post wrote this past Sunday about the upcoming episode.

A New York Times review earlier this month also mentioned the HSN connection, describing Marilyn Miglin as “a home shopping maven whose husband, the Chicago real estate developer Lee Miglin, was one of Mr. Cunanan’s victims.”

The Times wrote, “In the throes of tightly wound grief, she explains the advice her had given her that made her a cosmetics mogul: ‘Just think of that little red light as the man you love.'”

HSN’s Lopez is a nana, Brooke Shields to QVC

January 17, 2018

Sorry we’ve been out of touch. Had a lot going at home and on the work front, and during that period there’s been lots of news in the home shopping world.

Here’s some brief catching-up:

HSN host Colleen Lopez is now a granny. Her son Carlos and his wife Christie “welcomed their most precious gem of all, Lana Marie Lopez, weighing 9 lbs 2 oz on Friday, Jan. 12th!” Lopez said on Facebook. Congrats

In addition, actress and one-time Jersey girl Brooke Shields is the latest in a seemingly endless list of celebs doing a product lines for a home shopping network.

From the press release:

Chic fashion never goes out of style. Known for gracing red carpets and the pages of top lifestyle magazines, Brooke Shields has spent a lifetime being dressed by some of the world’s top fashion designers and stylists. Now, she is introducing her own line of contemporary wardrobe staples with Brooke Shields Timeless, an apparel and accessories line created especially for QVC. Brooke is scheduled to present select items from the collection on Thursday, February 15 at 7 PM (ET), with the full collection launching on Wednesday, March 14 at 11 PM (ET).

“What we love most about working with Brooke is her dedication to helping women live better lives, which is something we are passionate about as well,” said Doug Howe, Chief Merchandising Officer for QVC Group. “Brooke’s line is sophisticated but approachable and is ideal for busy women who crave fashion that is not only chic and effortless, but a perfect mix of modern and timeless.”

Featuring an assortment of sophisticated separates, including classic button-ups, flowy blouses, tailored bottoms, flirty skirts, colorful scarves and contemporary fashion jewelry, it has never been easier to mix and match like a pro, creating personalized looks. With designs that effortlessly translate from day to night, this versatile collection is perfectly suited for every woman and any occasion.

“After years of being dressed by professionals, I walked into my closet one day and realized I had lost sight of my own personal style,” said Brooke Shields. “I am incredibly passionate about this collection because I have created pieces that are not only chic, but that take the guess-work out of getting ready each morning. I can’t wait to share this line with the QVC customer, and I truly hope it helps women look and feel their best each day.”

Next, a kind reader informed us that former QVC host Albany Irvin turned up on Evine this week to represent a new line of bronze jewelry called Bronzallure.

And in a tragic note, former HSN host and Jersey guy Dan Dennis announced on Facebook that his oldest son Brian had suddenly died. Our heart bleeds for him and his wife, as we know what it is to lose a young person suddenly. Our brother died last month, age 60.

Deepest condolences to Dan, who currently is a host on the ShopLC Network. He said he doesn’t know when he’ll be back on-air.
