Grace Kelly, Jackie Onassis, And Who?

September 30, 2017

OK, what is his name?

We mean the gentleman who used to sell reproductions of Jackie Kennedy Onassis’s jewelry on QVC. He was back at the home shopping network on Friday, now selling copies of actress Grace Kelly’s baubles.

http://www.qvc.com/ItemsRecentlyOnAirView?showType=ItemsRecentlyOnAir&storeId=10251&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&selectedShowTime=201709291000&selectedTimeZone=EST&pageView=gallery&selProdSort=&yesterdayShow=false&cm_sp=24Hr-_-LN-_-Grace+Kelly+Collection+-+Jewelry&selDate=2017-09-29&channelCode=QVC

We used to enjoy his shows on Jackie, where he would show us the former First Lady in photos from back in the day wearing the jewelry the QVC items were fashioned after.

He knew all the history, and he was a fascinating speaker. But Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg but the kibosh on the line.

The Jackie line had been manufactured by Camrose & Kross of Boonton, N.J.

Now QVC is taking the same approach with Kelly, who married Prince Rainier of Monaco.

‘Evine After Dark’ sex show returns

September 30, 2017

Evine was pleased as punch with the reaction to its first “Evine After Dark” show last week, where it hawked “intimate” items like body oils.

It was so happy, in fact, that it put out a press release on it this week. The sexy show returns tonight at 1 a.m. ET, when the kiddies are in bed and asleep.

ICYMI: Evine Debuted “Evine After Dark” and Customers are Buzzing 09/28/2017

During Friday’s late night premiere, Evine created a positive and safe environment for women to learn about – and shop for – intimacy items

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Evine Live Inc. (“Evine”) (NASDAQ:EVLV), a multiplatform interactive digital commerce company (evine.com) introduced a new late-night shopping experience and TV talk show last weekend called “Evine After Dark,” which offered a positive and safe environment for women to purchase intimacy items. Viewers who joined the first-ever show of its kind were met with fun and flirty products, including body powder, lotions and lingerie, as well as sexual health and relationship advice from top-selling author and sexual health professional, Dr. Sari Locker.

“A little bit of history was made this weekend with our first ever ‘Evine After Dark’ show,” said Nicole Ostoya, Chief Marketing Officer at Evine. “We created this show with the belief that women, no matter their age, deserve to feel sexy and confident in their personal relationships, and especially in their own bodies. All along, our guiding principle was to provide access to intimacy products in a safe and discrete way and give them the opportunity to ask questions anonymously. We heard from many customers that were thankful to have somewhere to go for this category that was respectful and private.”

Evine viewers had an opportunity to post on Facebook their questions, as well as email a private email address (afterdark@evine.com) to leave comments or ask questions. The format and topics covered during “Evine After Dark” were positively received.

One Evine customer wrote in, saying, “I watched the full hour and the YouTube show. You were truly perfection, lending a voice to create a bridge we could all join to walk into the safe place YOU created. The format as a show is brilliant. This is the revolution of women over 35. Way to create something to not just mirror that, but continue to awaken it.”

Dr. Sari Locker said, “I’ve spent my career providing information and advice to embolden women to celebrate their inner-beauty and enjoy their sexuality. It is an honor to be part of ‘Evine After Dark,’ because it is a pioneering and exciting show. During the first episode, I received many emails from women looking for advice on how to find new ways to reconnect with their partners. I look forward to continuing to help guide Evine’s viewers each week as ‘Evine After Dark’ continues.”

“Evine After Dark” will continue to air live Friday late night at 10:00pm PT/Midnight CT/Saturdays at 1:00am ET and features luxury romance and intimacy products such as lotions, oils and body sprays, as well as elegant robes, nighties and lace bodysuits.

Each item selected for the series is designed to help women feel confident and empowered about their bodies and intimate relationships. In the creation of all of the “Evine After Dark” creative materials, none of the models were photoshopped or re-touched in order to capture the perfect-imperfections and all-natural beauty in a positive and uplifting way.

Fans are encouraged to follow along each show via Instagram at @evineafterdark and on YouTube by searching “Evine After Dark.” Viewers are invited to watch “Evine After Dark” via cable and satellite, mobile apps and live streaming online at http://www.evine.com. ‘Evine After Dark’ offers massage oils, sex advice

September 24, 2017

We’re nosy-holes, as our mom would say, so of course we watched “Evine After Dark” last night — with its “Boudoir Blush” nighties, sex advice and massage oils.

We already blogged that Evine was taking a big risk by looking to sell “intimate” goods to its viewers, hiring a sexuality expert and creating a new set for the initiative.

Kimberly Wells, who we found out is single, did the honors by hosting the premiere, which started off with a warning telling viewers that the sexual topics they were about to hear about were for mature-audiences-only and could offend some people.

Wells asked viewers to prepare for “a trail-blazing experience in television retail shopping.”

It turned out that the show was tastefully done, but we did get tired of Wells hammering home her bullet points: That the show was allowing women to buy intimate products in “a safe environment,” the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

Evine even set up an email where viewers could anonymously send in questions to sex expert Dr. Sari Locker, who appeared live to take the queries.

And in this TV venue, “intimacy” became the code word for sex. After awhile, we were dying to just hear the word sex.

All in all, we think it went over pretty well for Evine.

Ex-HSN Jewelry Maven Wieck Joins Evine

September 24, 2017

Long-time HSN jewelry vendor Victoria Wieck has already landed at another home shopping network: Evine.

We thank the reader who pointed the news out to us, and we immediately went to Evine.com to confirm it.

Sure enough, there were a little of over a half dozen Wieck gemstone rings posted.

http://www.evine.com/search/?q=premiere%3A+victoria+wieck+collection&icid=InternalSearch_AutoSearch_premiere%3A+victoria+wieck+collection

Wieck, who boasts of her high-end Beverly Hills jewelry business, was on HSN for 18 years, as we recall, when out of the blue she said she was beating it.

Vendors make the rounds at the three main home shopping networks — QVC, HSN and Evine — with some even going over to Jewelry TV. It’s like musical chairs.

So for you rabid Wieck fans, match for her on Evine.

‘Evine After Dark’ to sell sexy stuff

September 21, 2017

Evine is taking a walk on the wild side. It’s going where no home shopping network has gone before. Let’s talk about sex.

This week, late night, it is debuting a new program called “Evine After Dark” that will feature “intimate goods.” The merchandise, we are told by the Evine folk, will include lingerie for women of all sizes, massage-oil candles and bathing items.

We have already received an inquiry about the show from a reader who saw that Evine host Kimberly Wells had mentioned it on Facebook.

“Join Dr. Sari Locker & me for a pioneering & exciting new show designed to help women feel confident and empowered about their bodies and personal sexuality!” Wells wrote.

“We will be featuring luxury romance & intimacy products such as lotions, oils & body sprays as well as elegant robes, nighties and more. Educational, entertaining & sound advice to embolden you to celebrate your inner beauty-join us! xx”

Dr. Locker’s website describes her as a leading sex educator.

http://www.sarilocker.com/

We sure hope Chuck Clemency doesn’t wind up on this new show with nipple rings or some such stuff!

Evine, as the No. 3 home shopping network competing against industry giants QVC and HSN, is taking a chance and thinking out of the box. We think it could cut two ways. It may be a real opportunity to provide women a way to shop privately for such items, without facing salespeople. Or, if Evine’s audience is as conservative as some may think it is, “Evine After Dark” will not go over well with that crowd.

We certainly don’t recall a home shopping network hawking “intimate items” — some lingerie, of course, but no massage oils, in the past!

In fact, the networks have been rather prudish. We remember laughing our butts off a number of years ago when QVC host Lisa Robertson was selling NARS cosmetics, and she was not allowed to say the name of the brand’s most popular powder: Orgasm.

It was absurd.

The network promises that its new show will be tastefully done and offer women a comfortable outlet to buy intimate goods. It debuts Saturday at 1 a.m. ET.

Want ‘Great In Bed’? Watch Evine With Shinder

September 19, 2017

This is great, according to Evine.

Today, Tuesday, the No. 3 home shopping network will debut the House of Greatness from beauty-industry veteran Randi Shinder. We are not familiar with her, but according to Evine’e press release she is “best-known as the creator of CLEAN Perfume, Lip Fusion, Fusion Beauty and Jessica Simpson’s Dessert Beauty.

“Randi is a powerhouse in the fragrance and beauty industry and we are thrilled she’s joining the Evine family and are looking forward to this strategic partnership,” Evine CEO Bob Rosenblatt said in a canned statement.

“We can all subscribe to greatness being a way of life. Here at Evine we live by our mantra to be good to others and to be good to yourself. House of Greatness and Randi’s revolutionizing line of products that fuse science and beauty is a perfect match for our customers who seek out new ways to live, look and feel great.”

The announcement said that House of Greatness “is an empowering lifestyle brand developed with the core belief that greatness should be a way of life, a conscious mindset to inspire and motivate to do great and be the best version of yourself.”

The line includes fragrance, beauty, home décor, apparel and jewelry, including I Smell Great, Great in Bed, Great Bath, Great Home and jewelry collection, Great Intentions.

Additionally, House of Greatness will include brand collaborations from “celebrity beauty and lifestyle expert Spencer Barnes and supermodel and actress Bar Paly.” We haven’t heard of either one of them.

House of Greatness will debut on Evine in September and will expand with new introductions monthly through next January and beyond.

“House of Greatness has been a labor of love,” Shinder said.

“My passion has always been fragrance and beauty and I’m referred to by many as a self-proclaimed beauty junkie. Over time my passions have evolved into creating this exciting lifestyle brand that not only invites greatness in all aspects of ones’ life, but also empowers women who believe good is not good enough and strive for greatness in their everyday life, values, aspirations and dreams.”

House of Greatness will debut with the fragrances I Smell Great and Great in Bed.

The press release left us speechless when it said:

I Smell Great is the first and only fragrance brand based on extraction to develop scents directly from things women love the most. Combining true extraction with patented self-renewing scent spheres allows the wearer to reactivate the fragrance up to 6-8 hours after application. In addition to fragrances, I Smell Great will also include scented candles.

Great in Bed is a collection of products specifically designed for the bedroom to promote great rest, great energy and great bedroom experiences. The fragrances within Great in Bed are formulated with magnetic energy water to increase energy and attraction while delicately scenting skin from head to toe. In addition to fragrances, Great in Bed will also include scented candles, atmosphere sprays and sleepwear and extend into bedroom accessories and bedding.

Following the September introduction of I Smell Great and Great in Bed, and in time for the holidays, will be the debut of Great Bath, Great Home and Great Intentions.

Barnes and Paly will be making guest appearances during the premieres. He had worked with will be Spencer Barnes, who has worked with celebrities including Julianne Hough, Nina Dobrev and Angie Harmon. She has worked with Liam Neeson, Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson.

Each will showcase their own unique lines created in collaboration with Shinder.

Kirks Folly, Marianna Jacobs, Somers and Brand

September 18, 2017

We’re behind on our blogging, been busy at work, but here are some tidbits and observations.

Kirks Folly will be bringing its whimsical fairy dust, jewelry and home décor back to QVC on Sept. 29. The line, which beacons the angels among us, is either the silliest thing you have ever seen or something you fanatically love. Jenniefer Kirk posted on Facebook about her return.

Back in the day Jenniefer and then-QVC host Judy Crowell would get dressed up in elaborate outfits, and sell Kirks Folly from an elaborate set. Don’t know if we’ll be seeing that again.

Sterling silver designer Marianna Jacobs and her husband Richard have been on several home shopping networks selling their handmade jewelry. Most recently they did a stint on Evine before joining HSN.

Marianna was on HSN host Colleen Lopez’s “Designer Gallery” show on Sunday with her Travelers’ Journey line and it looked like she had a makeover. She was totally glam – blown-out hair, tailored attire, totally different that her former free hair, casual hippy kind of look. And her husband Richard isn’t mentioned, as far as we could tell. They used to appear on-air together. What’s up?

We briefly saw Suzanne Somers – who sent from HSN to Evine to QVC — recently with QVC host Rick Domeir. We thought she looked good as she touted her new book, which in part touts her long-term marriage. Our mom thought Somers looked terrible. We will tell you what was terrible: The way Domeir was fawning over her.

By now we all know that HSN, in advance of Hurricane Irma, let its employees go off the safety and packed up a crew to televise from makeshift studios in Nashville, Tenn. We have seen a promo several times now where our buddy Bill Brand, HSN’s president, thanked viewers for their good wished and prayers. With Mindy Grossman’s exit to join Oprah Winfrey’s Weight Watchers leaving a vacuum at the top at HSN, Brand may be her replacement.

Hurricane forces HSN to air from Tenn.

September 10, 2017

A tip of the hat to HSN for shutting down its operations in St. Pete because of Hurricane Irma.

Like a number of businesses in the Tampa, Fla., area that are in the hurricane’s path, the No. 2 home shopping network closed up shop for the safety of its employees.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/retail/businesses-throughout-tampa-bay-shut-down-early-as-hurricane-irma-nears/2336658

We are watching HSN now at 10:30 p.m. EST, and it is airing past broadcasts.

But it will be telecasting from the facilities it has in Tennessee, as it told folks through its Twitter feed.

“Our FL campus is closed,” the tweet yesterday said. “Employees & partners are focused on families. Team in TN will cont live broadcast at midnight. If in FL, stay safe!”

We have a lot of friends now in Florida, not to mention our brother (who has opted not to evacuate), and we pray they are all safe and the storm isn’t as fierce as predicted.

Evine’s Beekman Boys Do Laundry

We’re watching the presentation on this and we like what we see.
