‘Amigo’ Deasy Leaving Evine, Wife Crowell Staying

June 26, 2018

It’s official: Paul Deasy, one of Evine’s Three Amigos, is leaving the home shopping network to go to HSN this fall. But his wife Judy Crowell is staying at the Minnesota channel.

Former home shopping host Deasy relayed the news in a live Facebook chat with his wife and fellow home shopping host/jewelry vendor Crowell this weekend.

Deasy and Crowell, if we recall correctly, have both appeared on QVC and HSN as well as Evine. And Crowell was also a vendor briefly for Jewelry Television. Then the couple came on-board Evine, the No. 3 home shopping venue. Deasy’s specialty was turquoise.

Deasy and veteran Evine jewelry vendors Chuck “Jersey Boy” Clemency and Michael Valitutti were the network’s Three Amigos. But Clemency said that moniker will be retired.

Deasy said that he has a few appearances coming up on Evine in early July.

Kirks Folly, Marianna Jacobs, Somers and Brand

September 18, 2017

We’re behind on our blogging, been busy at work, but here are some tidbits and observations.

Kirks Folly will be bringing its whimsical fairy dust, jewelry and home décor back to QVC on Sept. 29. The line, which beacons the angels among us, is either the silliest thing you have ever seen or something you fanatically love. Jenniefer Kirk posted on Facebook about her return.

Back in the day Jenniefer and then-QVC host Judy Crowell would get dressed up in elaborate outfits, and sell Kirks Folly from an elaborate set. Don’t know if we’ll be seeing that again.

Sterling silver designer Marianna Jacobs and her husband Richard have been on several home shopping networks selling their handmade jewelry. Most recently they did a stint on Evine before joining HSN.

Marianna was on HSN host Colleen Lopez’s “Designer Gallery” show on Sunday with her Travelers’ Journey line and it looked like she had a makeover. She was totally glam – blown-out hair, tailored attire, totally different that her former free hair, casual hippy kind of look. And her husband Richard isn’t mentioned, as far as we could tell. They used to appear on-air together. What’s up?

We briefly saw Suzanne Somers – who sent from HSN to Evine to QVC — recently with QVC host Rick Domeir. We thought she looked good as she touted her new book, which in part touts her long-term marriage. Our mom thought Somers looked terrible. We will tell you what was terrible: The way Domeir was fawning over her.

By now we all know that HSN, in advance of Hurricane Irma, let its employees go off the safety and packed up a crew to televise from makeshift studios in Nashville, Tenn. We have seen a promo several times now where our buddy Bill Brand, HSN’s president, thanked viewers for their good wished and prayers. With Mindy Grossman’s exit to join Oprah Winfrey’s Weight Watchers leaving a vacuum at the top at HSN, Brand may be her replacement.

JTV Alums Moseley, Lau To Be QVC Gem Experts

May 25, 2017

Gem expert Peyton Kelley is gone from QVC, but two Jewelry Television alum are coming to the No. 1 home shopping network: Jeff Moseley and Michele Lau.

Both Moseley and Lau posted almost exactly the same messages separately on their Facebook pages.

“I’m thrilled to announce I have officially accepted the offer from QVC to be one of their two Gemstone Jewelry On Air Guests!” Moseley wrote.

And Lau posted, “It is a done deal! I have officially accepted the offer from #QVC to be one of their two Gemstone Jewelry On Air Guests!”

We enjoyed them both on JTV, and this is no reflection on them, but we are a little perturbed if Kelley was let go to make way for them.

As we recently reported, not only Kelley, who was at QVC for years, but most recently host Jacque Gonzales are gone. As one former QVC host suggested, companies like QVC often let veteran employees, who are at the top of the pay scale, go as a belt-tightening measure. Hell, we were laid off at two newspapers for the same reason. It sucks.

Now that that’s off our chest, we note that this news about Moseley means that yet another husband-wife team is on home shopping. Moseley’s wife Erin is already on on-air rep for QVC’s Diamonique line.

Evine has jewelry vendors Judy Crowell and hubby Paul Deasy. And the network also has Pam McCoy, who used to appear on the channel back in the day with her husband Wes.

QVC’s Courtney Cason: We Say You Shouldn’t

September 16, 2014

We’ve been so busy at our day job, and covering the sad passing of Joan Rivers, that we hadn’t seen QVC’s “Courtney Says I Do” promotion.

http://www.qvc.com/CourtneySaysIDo.content.html

We know people will disagree with us, but we find it a tad tacky to be discussing every detail of your impending nuptials the way host Courtney Cason is.

But then again, if the deal included getting our wedding dress designed by Mark Zunino, maybe we would change our tune.

The wedding is this Saturday, by the way. And Cason’s groom-to-be is adorable.

Here is what she blogged on QVC.com last week:

I can’t believe my wedding is just one week away. It’s weird to even type that out. It’s crazy to think that almost a year ago I wasn’t sure that I was going to be engaged anytime soon. Now it’s full on crunch time to marry the man of my dreams!

As an ex-QVC host pointed out, it’s a little risky to promote a host’s wedding. What if the marriage goes sour?

You may recall when then-QVC host Judy Crowell wed a fellow host, whose names escapes us now. It was a very short marriage, let’s put it that way.

We’re glad Crowell finally found the man of HER dreams, fellow QVC alum Paul Deasy (now on SHopHQ).

We also remember when one of our favorite bloggers wrote a lot about her coming fancy wedding to “Mr. Wonderful,” as she called him. Two years later, she was blogging about going on a date.

Needless to say, all her readers were asking her what the heck was up. She sounded a bit annoyed when she explained that she and Mr. Wonderful had divorced, and would people stop asking about her personal life.

Girlfriend, when you put your personal life out there, people are going to ask about it.

Any way, best of luck, Courtney. Seriously, God bless.

Judy Crowell Brings Her Joya Jewelry Line To ShopHQ Next Week

January 16, 2014

ShopHQ Gem Insider Paul Deasy’s better half will be debuting her new jewelry line on the home shopping network next Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Yes, Judy Crowell — a veteran of QVC, HSN, ShopHQ and Jewelry Television — is bringing Joya to the Minnesota-based network.

Crowell and Deasy are an almost annoyingly cute couple, and are a couple of rock hounds like us.

ShopHQ already is selling some of her jewelry, which has a modern and geometric look, on its website.

Here’s what Crowell had to say on Facebook about one of her new pieces, which incorporate sterling silver and real stones.

“Thought I would share some of my design inspiration – With this piece my instinct was to re-think the typical shape used for red stones (think hearts!) and give it a modern, timeless look,” she wrote of one pendant.

“I also felt that the pretty, yet unexpected, blend of red (Agate) and pink (Quartzite) would give us many more wearable wardrobe options. Hope you love it as much as I do!”

We’re looking forward to seeing what else she has up her sleeve.

Judy Crowell Readies Jewelry Line For ShopHQ

September 27, 2013

Who knew?

Judy Crowell — a veteran vendor and host on QVC, HSN, ShopHQ and Jewelry Television — has a new venture in the works.

According to Facebook, Crowell has a jewelry line getting ready for ShopHQ, where she once did a clothing line and her husband Paul Deasy now has a jewelry line, as well.

Judy’s collection, silver and gems, is called JOYA by Judy Crowell. She said on Facebook that the unveling of her new jewelry line will happen soon. No word when.

Herkimer Diamonds: ShopNBC Versus HSN

March 24, 2013

For the first time in a long while, we spent a lot of time in front of the boob tube tuned to ShopNBC Thursday and Friday for its Gem Day festivities, and we caught a bit of jewelry doyenne Judith Ripka on QVC last night.

Actually, we were pleasantly surprised at the assortment of goodies that the Three Amigos — Jersey Boy Chuck Clemency, Paul Deasy and Michael V. (we’re to tired to look up the right spelling on his name) — trotted out for the Minnesota home shopping venue.

Deasy really got in our good graces by pulling two Herkimer diamond necklaces out of his bag of tricks. HSN vendor Deb Guyot brought a Herkimer necklace to that home shopping network as a TS some months back, and we are wearing it as we write. Apparently, she doesn’t have an exclusive on the market.

Herkimer diamonds, quartz crystals that come to points at both ends, are supposed to be powerful spiritually, helping foster creativity and opening a shitload of chakras. The stones come from Herkimer County in Upstate New York, which was in the news last week when a crazed gunman killed some innocent folk up there.

Guyot’s Herkimer diamond necklaces for HSN are 5 mm, at 18 1/2 and 24 inches for $280 and $370, respectively.

On ShopNBC Deasy offered just the 18 inch length, but had two different widths, 5 mm and 6 mm. His necklaces, non-Gem Day priced now, are $358 and $418.

Deasy, a home shopping vet who is married to another home shopping vet, Judy Crowell, is a delight to watch. He made a lot of self-deprecating jokes about his clothes and his need to get one of Suzanne Somers’ Face Masters. He and Judy are lucky to have found each other.

Here’s What ShopNBC Vendor Chuck Clemency Is Up To In Tucson

February 7, 2013

If you dropped a bomb on Tucson this week, you would probably knock off 90 percent of the home shopping jewelry vendors and a nice chunk of the network hosts in America.

These jewelry mavens and on-air talent have flocked to southern Arizona for the Tuscon Gem Shore. IF we died and went to heaven, that is where we would be, too.

It looks these folks have been having so much fun that they haven’t had too much time to post many photos on Facebook, but a couple have taken the trouble.

Judy Crowell — an alum of QVC, HSN, ShopNBC and Jewelry Television — posted a shot of ShopNBC vendors Jersey Guy Chuck Clemency and Michael Valitutti out among the saguaros shooting a promo for the home shopping channel.

And ShopNBC host Lynne Schacher posted several photos of her and Clemency.

We wonder what HSN host Colleen Lopez and HSN rock god Jay King are up to in Tucson.

Former QVC-HSN Host Judy Crowell Exits As Jewelry Television’s Style Expert

November 20, 2012

We’re late on this news, but better late than never: eternal home shopping host Judy Crowell has ended her tenure as Jewelry Television’s style and trend expert.

One of our astute readers posted a note asking us about Crowell’s recent absence from shows featuring the Stratify jewelry line, where she had been a fixture. We emailed Crowell, and she graciously responded by sending us a link to a blog she wrote in mid-October, announcing that her JTV days were done.

“JTV is a delightful company with an extremely talented staff,” Crowell blogged. “I had the best time working alongside the hosts and buying team to bring ‘Stratify’ to all of you.Your positive feedback made me incredibly proud of what we accomplished.”

Crowell went on to day that she would be traveling with her husband, ShopNBC vendor Paul Deasy, to film at a drusy mine.

Crowell, who like her husband has been a host on QVC and HSN, hinted that she will be back on TV soon in her blog.

“You know I can never leave the shopping channel industry, right?” she blogged. “So, stay tuned for the next chapter!”

Looking forward to it.

Home Shopping Vet Charles Winston Lands At Jewelry Television

November 6, 2011

Has jewelry designer Charles Winston become the new Judy Crowell?

He is apparently following in her career path, now joining her at Jewelry Television, and moved on from CZ to Moissante.

Winston used to sell blingy fashion jewelry on ShopNBC, and then went on, and off, HSN.

We were checking Facebook tonight and learned he is now on JTV.

Here is what he posted:

Thank you all for making this last 2-hour show a huge success! I look forward to seeing you all at the NEW 2am that would be 2am EDT….for 1-hour and then again tomorrow evening at 8pm – 10pm EDT. Thank you one and all for making JTV my new home away from home.

Crowell has bounced around like Winston. She was a host on QVC and HSN, and then became a vendor on ShopNBC. Now she is selling jewelry on JTV.

We did a bit more checking, and apparently Winston first appeared on JTV in September. Thanks for letting us know, Chuck.

Another Facebook post:

Be certain to mark your calendar for Charles Winston’s appearance on JTV. During Charles’ last appearance this past September, almost every item shown, sold out in minutes. It happened so quickly, Mr. Winston barely was able to explain the benefits of each item and what his inspiration was.

Here is JTV’s spiel on him:

At the age of 17, Charles was brought into the jewelry industry via the family business. He developed a keen eye for quality and style and thought about how nice it would be if all women could afford to wear elegant creations of fine jewelry.

Charles Winston then formed his own jewelry manufacturing company creating fabulous jewelry utilizing sterling silver or gold. He incorporated cubic zirconia in lieu of diamonds and used lab-created (synthetic) gemstones rather than their natural counterparts.

After the success of his CZ jewelry collection, Charles recognized the need for a line of jewelry that was a step up from CZ yet still affordable. He solved that problem by partnering with Charles & Colvard, the sole source for the most beautifully created gemstone in the world, Moissanite.

Charles Winston is internationally recognized as a leading jewelry designer of diamond jewelry, Moissanite® jewelry and CZ jewelry. His focus on cutting edge design, high quality and value has been the key to his success. He can be seen on television shopping networks worldwide.
