ShopNBC Host Dave King Exits Home Shopping Net For Cali

September 3, 2013

ShopNBC host, and QVC veteran, Dave King is exiting the Minnesota-based home shopping network.

We’re not sure on all the B-roll, but we think King was traveling back and forth from the No. 3 home shopping network to Cali a lot to pursue his acting career. He is now going to try acting full-time.

ShopNBC host Dave King is leaving to do his acting thang. Here he is with girlfriend Jenny Repko.

It looks like he is moving to California permanently. His real-life leading lady is QVC vet Jenny Repko.

On Facebook Monday, King posted a picture of his now-empty place in Minnesota.

“Last day in Minnie…. Closed up Shop this weekend. Last shift tonight at midnight… But I’ll be back as a guest from time to time…. Totally lovin’ the acting life! More on that to come… Stay tuned – literally!!” he wrote.

Good luck in Cali, Dave.

Classy QVC Host Dave James Is Gone From The Network

June 8, 2013

This is sad news: Dave James has left QVC.

One of our blog readers tipped us off yesterday that James’ photo was no longer on the host section of QVC.com.

We looked on Facebook to see if James said anything about leaving QVC, and we emailed the network about it. It wasn’t until tonight that we saw posted that he was leaving the home shopping network,

“I’m really doing my best to not type out a cheesy goodbye & thank you blog as I’m letting you know that I’ve left QVC. But I have to admit that the sentiments I want to express in this short passage are as giant as any gouda wheel I’ve seen in the deli,” he wrote in a blog on QVC.com.

“Simply put, I will miss you,” he blogged. “To my QVC colleagues, friends, and co-workers, I know we’ll stay in touch and maintain a friendship outside of the ‘Q,’ so I’m not worried about us saying goodbye. And to all the ‘Q’ viewer friends I’ve made along the way, your viewership, phone calls, emails, Facebook posts, and tweets have been a grand on-going conversation that I’ve loved through the years — you are diverse, opinionated, and strong!”

“I’ve loved meeting every one of you who took the time to chat with me on QVC,” he wrote. “You may not realize this but, if you’ve thought of me in your life, rest assured, I thought of you in mine too. I’m humbled and grateful for your viewership. I want to take this moment to say, ‘thank you for watching’ and ‘Roll Tide!’

On Facebook he added, “Please stay in touch with me on at Photos by David James and on Twitter @DavidJinPA.”

QVC posted this: “A goodbye & thank you from host Dave James QVC. We wish Dave luck in his future pursuits and thank him for sharing his talents with QVC!”

This does not sound voluntary, and it sounds like it was a surprise to James, a huge Crimson Tide fan.

One woman posted on Facebook, “Dave HAD to be let go… The other morning when he was on with Pat, he said that since Dan Hughes was on a sabatical, he would be filling in for him the month of June. That was Tuesday, now he’s gone… it sure wasnt his choice.”

Been there, Dave!

Anyway, we grew to admire James as a real pro a couple of years ago, we think it was a Black Friday weekend, where QVC televised backstage 24 hours or more. You could go online and see the live backstage stuff. James hosted this knuckle-headed event, the poor guy. Without sleep, he really hung in there.

We’ll never forget the haughty way that host Rick Domeier acted when has backstage with James.

James’ fans were upset about his departure, and said goodbye on Facebook.

“Why are you leaving the”Q”?? I was soooo surprised to read that you left,” one woman wrote.

“Dave James was the winner of QVC’s 2004 Program Host Search Auditions. Millions of Americans voted for Dave, and after MONTHS of intensive host training, he joined the ranks as a QVC program host in May 2005,” wrote another.

And several home shopping hosts had comments for James.

“Dave you will definitely be missed by me and many others at the Q!!! It has been a joy to work with you these past nine years. Please stay in touch ok?” wrote QVC host Dan Wheeler.

“Sorry to hear the news, Bud. All the best! Stay in touch!” said Dave King, a former QVC host and current ShopNBC host.

Sorry, Lisa Robertson’s Dress For QVC’s Red Carpet LA Party Makes Her Look Plump

February 26, 2011

We just got in and tuned in to QVC’s Red Carpet pre-Oscar shindig at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. We’ve got to hand it to QVC — there is a huge crowd there, and when we came in actress Marlee Matlin was using sign language to say something that we missed.

Now QVC jewelry queen Joan Rivers is talking to host Lisa Robertson, hawking sunglasses.

Lisa Robertson, we wished we liked your red carpet dress

Earlier in the day, on Facebook Robertson said she was heading out to get made up for the party five hours before it started. “It takes a village,” she joked, to get her ready to go on-air. So we were looking forward to see how she looked.

Robertson is a beautiful woman, but she is clad in a long beige gown that is pulling against her stomach area and making her look heavy — which we know she isn’t. This unflattering dress is apparently by QVC designer Isaac Mizrahi. Isaac, Isaac, Isaac.

Robertson’s side ponytail is not such a great look, either. And guess who did the hair? QVC vendor Nick Chavez. Nick, Nick, Nick.

We also got a gander at QVC host Shawn Killinger, who is running around with a microphone interviewing the partygoers. She’s wearing a short black babydoll dress, and her boobs are popping out of the top of it.

Now model Camila Alves, actor Matthew McConaughey’s baby mama, is showing off a pretty fringed bag and a huge bag she did for QVC. She is dressed in a beautful black sequined dress, and looks stunning.

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian are being interviewed on the red carpet, and will soon be pitching their QVC clothing line, K-Dash.

And FYI, vendors and hosts from different home shopping networks do fraternize together. Former QVC host Dave King, who is now at ShopNBC, is also in LA. And on his Facebook page he posted a photo of him, Robertson and Laurie Feltheimer, who does the “Hot in Hollywood” line for HSN, at a restaurant.

Ex-QVC ‘In The Kitchen With Bob’ Bowersox Boards That Plane to Minnesota To Work For ShopNBC

June 17, 2010

Bob is back

Another QVC alum has found his way to ShopNBC.

Former QVC host Bob Bowersox, who used to date ex-QVC host Kathy Levine, will be on ShopNBC Thursday at midnight, 4 a.m., 12 p.m. and 4 p.m, in the “Around the Kitchen” show series.

He will be appearing as a “guest expert,” according to the No. 3 home shopping network. He will offer his cooking and kitchen appliance expertise.

ShopNBC describes Bowersox, who abruptly disappeared from QVC some time ago, as as “actor, voiceover artist, screenwriter, playwright, novelist, poet, singer, songwriter, and national television network personality.”

What ShopNBC fails to mention is that Bowrsix “was a national television network personality” via his tenure at QVC. But ShopNBC does call Bowersox “a home shopping favorite.”

Former QVC host Dave King is also now over at ShopNBC, as a host.

Bowersox will be hawking a Sharper Image Super Wave Oven. “Designed to cook your food up to three times faster than a conventional oven, with up to 80% less energy, customers will learn how this unique product will transform their time in the kitchen,” we’re told.

ShopNBC Covers International CES Show With Online Reports From The Floor In Vegas

January 10, 2010

Dave King

In a clever move, ShopNBC is offering some nifty reporting from the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on its Web site, tying in interviews with big manufacturers like Sony and Panasonic to products the home shopping channel is selling.

ShopNBC host Dave King, an alum of QVC, conducts interviews of vendors on the floor of the huge show (we were laid off just after attending last year’s CES show). And he actually does a decent job, talking about the hot news at the CES this year, namely 3D-TV sets.

King does reports on the latest on TV sets, GPS systems, cameras and camcorders, and computer notebooks.

With consumer electronics the big growing catetory on home shopping channels, we think it was a smart move for ShopNBC to be at the CES.
