Ex-QVC Host Antonella’s Husband Suffers Heart Attack

July 24, 2021

True be told, our family never had the most upbeat outlook on life.

If something went wrong, they would say, “That’s typical Moss luck or something like that.” We love them, but lots of good things happened, too. But the glass was often half empty to them.

In any event, that brings us to the sad tale of ex-QVC host Antonella Nestor. One could seriously say that if she didn’t have bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all.

First, she was abruptly canned at QVC. We know that feeling.

Then her husband lost his job.

Then they lost their house, and planned to live on a houseboat.

Then Antonella was diagnosed with leukemia.

Then she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Then she was undergoing painful chemo for the cancer.

Yesterday, she posted a video on Facebook saying that her husband had suffered a mild heart attack. He was in the hospital, but he was doing OK.

Seriously, how much is one person supposed to suffer?

Sending prayers to her and her husband. Lord, enough is enough for them.

Prayers For Ex-QVC Host Antonella Nester

April 7, 2021

Not a good week. Our friend from junior high passed away on Easter from breast cancer that had spread. She had bravely and optimistically survived for years, but her time came. Love ya Deb!

Now, we see ex-QVC host Antonella Nester today posted an update on her cancer situation.

Not the best news.

“Unfortunately, Onco results and Doc visit did not go well today,” she wrote. “Starting Chemo in May (good bye hair), then radiation, then pills. The Cancer is aggressive and on a molecular level. Could show up anywhere in the body, if it does, it’s untreatable. Huh? Anyway, that’s what the Doc said. Thanks for all your prayers!!!I love you!!Xo”

Let’s hope this situation does not turn out to be as bleak as it seems.

She lost her job. Her husband lost his job. They plan to live on a houseboat. Now this.

Why can’t we find a cure for cancer?

Ex-QVC Host Antonella Nester Diagnosed With Cancer

February 24, 2021

We’re sending good vibes, healing and light to former QVC host Antonella Nester. She’s facing some tough times.

We just watched a YouTube video where Nester says that she has been diagnosed with not only leukemia, but now also breast cancer. Her doctors say they are unrelated. But how would you like to get that double dose of bad news?

Nester, if you recall, was laid off by QVC abruptly last year, part of a group of employees swept out the door by the home shopping network. The pink slip was a shock to Nester.

We know the feeling. We had it roughly a decade go when we were laid off, for the first but not the only time in our career. It stinks.

We really have not been keeping up with Nester, but today we also watched a second video she had done. It turns out both she and her husband lost their jobs. And here’s a surprise: They couldn’t find other work. Nester said her husband unsuccessfully applied for 100 jobs. She suspects it’s age discrimination.

We don’t suspect it. We’d bet our life on it. Can’t tell you how may times we’ve seen it.

So she and her husband decided to retire, sell their house and live on a boat.

Now this cancer situation has happened.

Nester put up a brave front about the cancer, but admitted she’s scared. Of course.

All we can say is we wish her well and are praying hard for her. You should do the same.

Ex-QVC Host Dan Wheeler Authors Book on Wife’s Death

October 28, 2018

Veteran QVC host Dan Wheeler has penned a book about his wife’s fatal illness.

The tome, called “Hurricane of Love,” is about the death of Beth Wheeler, Dan’s beloved spouse and mother of his children. Dan often posted on Facebook about Beth’s increasing sickness from her cancer, and it was heartbreaking.

Most if not all of us have lived through this sort of tragedy, where you sit helpless as someone you love dies, so it is a universal experience.

Here’s the blurb on the book from publisher WestBow Press:

Beth and Dan Wheeler had it all. Their growing family consisted of two beautiful daughters, a loving son-in-law, and a handsome grandson. They lived in their dream house on a beautiful, sprawling property. Dan was enjoying a thriving career as a popular television host on QVC. Suddenly in 2012, their world was rocked when Beth was diagnosed with stage IV cancer.

“Our priorities were turned upside down but ultimately right side up in an instant,” Dan writes. For three years, he balanced his career as a cheerful, upbeat television host with caring for his wife as she battled for her life against an aggressive form of cancer. Now, at last, he shares their inspiring story in Hurricane of Love: My Journey with Beth Wheeler.

Beth’s tremendous capacity to love swept through the halls of medical clinics, hospitals, and chemotherapy suites, positively impacting the lives of medical personnel, family, and friends. You will read about the many miracles they encountered along the way, including an angelic appearance and glimpses of heaven. Beth’s love and her strong faith in the Lord enabled her to face death with grace, dignity, and tremendous courage. This book will calm your fears, strengthen your faith, and inspire your hope. Beth Wheeler’s love was like a hurricane. It hit everyone in its path. Be prepared to be swept away!

QVC, Cosmetics Execs Team Again For Cancer Benefit

April 27, 2016

QVC and Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) are joining forces for the fourth consecutive year for “QVC and CEW Present Beauty with Benefits,” which will air on our birthday, this Thursday, at 7 p.m.

The deal is that 80 percent of the purchase price of the donated merchandise will benefit Cancer and Careers, a charitable program of the CEW Foundation. This week’s lineup includes products from Nars, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Givenchy, Shiseido, bareMinerals, Algenist and Philosophy.

Wow, Nars is back! We haven’t seen it on QVC since the network wouldn’t let Lisa Robertson utter the name of one of the beauty brand’s iconic blushes: Orgasm.

But we digress. As an added bonus on Thursday, shoppers will receive a gift with purchase, which includes one full-size product and four deluxe samples from participating brands in a Sonia Kashuk-designed cosmetic bag.

The broadcast will benefit Cancer and Careers, which empowers, educates and provides essential tools to people with cancer so they can thrive in the workplace. Viewers will be shown the impact that each purchase can make to the lives of those affected by cancer and industry experts will share beauty tips and tricks that will leave everyone feeling beautiful.

“Teaming up with CEW once again gives viewers the opportunity to shop for a cause, while also inspiring them to positively impact lives across the country through Cancer and Careers,” said Rachel Ungaro, QVC’s vice president of fashion and beauty merchandising.

“This initiative aligns with our charitable mission to support the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships. By working with CEW and their strong network, we aim to bring together the beauty industry to build more awareness and support for Cancer and Careers.”

To help raise awareness for this year’s broadcast, longtime friends Cindy Crawford, model and entrepreneur, and Sonia Kashuk, founder of Sonia Kashuk Beauty, teamed up for the second year in a row as the Public Service Announcements spokeswomen.

Cindy Crawford’s sister, Chris Bohnsak, and Sonia Kashuk’s daughter, Sadye Kaner, lent their support to enforce the social campaign “Better Together.”

“This simple but powerful phrase reinforces the collective goal of ‘Beauty with Benefits, which is to bring people, products and expertise together to make life better for cancer survivors on the job,” according to QVC’s press release.

QVC viewers, with or without a direct connection to cancer, will be encouraged to post about someone who makes life better for them, whether it is a friend, family member, colleague, teacher or doctor using the hashtag #BeautywithBenefits.

This year, viewers are also invited to participate in a sweepstakes that will give one shopper the chance to win every product in the broadcast for themselves and a friend of their choice.

QVC Host Dan Wheeler’s Late Wife’s Service To Be Streamed

November 3, 2015

We just got back from vacation, where it was too difficult for us to blog, so this is our first words on the tragic death of QVC host Dan Wheeler’s wife Beth, 61. And we find we are without words.

As we suffered a horrendous loss, the death of our father earlier this year, and have friends who have lost loved ones recently, as well, one runs out of things to say. Your faith is tested. Dan is born-again, so he has God to turn to, but reading his heart-wrenching Facebook posts about the demise of the love of his life was beyond sad.

The late Beth Wheeler

The late Beth Wheeler

Here is one post:

I am heartbroken and my spirit is crushed. Today I had several panic attacks and have cried until I can’t breathe. I know this first year without will be so hard. First Thanksgiving, first anniversary. First Christmas, New Years, her birthday, it goes on and on. But I’m told someday it will slowly get better.

That reminded us of our own thoughts about facing the upcoming holiday season without our father.

Then this from Dan:

I guess my new normal is to wake up crying. My heart has a giant hole in it. My wife, @Elizabeth Ann Wheeler was not only the Love of my Life but she was and is my hero. My daughters have tattoos on their wrists that say “Faith” and “Hope.”

Beth’s wrist says “Love.” She is love and she loved me unconditionally for 37 years. The past 6 months have been difficult. The past 5 weeks unbearable. But these days of planning her life celebration and burial are really impossible as a man.

But God is carrying me and my family. “Now abideth faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE!” I miss you so much my sweet Cakies! (my nickname for Beth)

But QVC customers will be able to view the services for Beth, who died of cancer. Dan posted this:

Beth’s Celebration service will stream live tomorrow on the Internet and you can watch it at 11am ET from anywhere in the world @www.cfdowningtown.com/wheeler.

My wife always preferred the background but it is time that moves “center stage” so the world can learn about this amazing woman. Hope you can join us for this incredible service!

Our heart goes out to Dan and his family, and to all victims of cancer.

QVC Host Dan Wheeler’s Ill Wife Improves, Comes Home From Hospital

October 22, 2015

Someone heard our prayers.

QVC host Dan Wheeler’s beloved wife Beth, who is ill with cancer, came home on Wednesday after several weeks in a Philly hospital.

BETH

It seemed touch and go for awhile for Beth and Wheeler, a devout Christian, called for all his QVC fans to keep praying for her. We are no experts on cancer, but she was receiving blood platelets and initially it was not working out well.

But she finally took a turn for the better, hence her discharge from the hospital.

“The signs and balloons are in place, the wheelchair is here and the ramp has been built to my front door,” Wheeler posted on Facebook.

“My baby is getting an ambulance ride home today!!! Miracles are happening everyday! Praise the Lord and thank you all for your prayers! After three weeks of storming heaven collectively with you our QVC FAMILY, she is coming home!!!! I’m so happy I can hardly contain myself!”

Either can we, Dan.

Prayers to both of them.
