HSN Fashion Maven Iris Apfel And People

October 6, 2016

What’s not to love about owl-eyed, bespectacled fashion maven Iris Apfel?

To our delight, Apfel has been doing a jewelry collection for HSN for some time.

Now she’s added apparel to that mix, inspired by the Tim Burton film “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.”

People magazine just did a story on the HSN line and interviewed the silver-haired grand dame. Enjoy.

Vanessa Williams Has A Hit With Her Evine Live Line

March 23, 2016

Singer-actress Vanessa Williams’ debut on Evine Live last weekend was a hit, according to the home shopping network, which reported that she sold out of many items in her clothing line and exceeded sales goals by 10 percent.

We wouldn’t normally believe such hype, but we tried to buy one of her ruched skirts the morning before her premiere and it was already sold out, so we know she was cooking.

“I’m thrilled that my new clothing line exclusively for Evine Live was so successful in its debut,” Williams said in a canned statement. “I’m elated that so many customers are excited to be draped in my spring fashion. A warm thanks to everyone that made the huge success possible.”

“Vanessa was absolutely amazing to work with throughout the entire process from initial meeting to launch,” Evine Live Vice President of Fashion David Miller said. “She was in the details, even bringing a collection of shoes for her specifically chosen models. She was a pro, walking the catwalk with her models and even changing her outfits in the middle of the show as product sold out.”

The collection was featured during the network’s Spring Unleashed: Fashion Day event, where Williams reportedly shared her “Urban Camouflage” design philosophy, “clothes that conceal pesky imperfections and make every body type look its best,” according to the press release .

“Vanessa Williams is a great addition to the Evine Live family where we have welcomed other amazing brands and personalities over the last few years, including Paula Deen, Nancy O’Dell, Beekman 1802 and Michelle Williams,” Evine Live Chairman and Interim CEO Bob Rosenblatt said. “She clearly understands our multichannel platform and was able to harness her message to women everywhere and they responded in droves.”

Vanessa Williams will return to Evine Live on May 1 to present new styles in her V. by Vanessa Williams collection.

HSN Will Live Stream Serena Williams’ Fashion Week Show

September 9, 2015

This is intriguing news from HSN: The home shopping network will be live streaming tennis legend Serena Williams runway show during New York’s KIA Style360 Fashion Week.

The “Front Row” stream event will take place on Sept. 15, and HSN will be selling items from Serena’s collection online immediately following the show.

“Throughout my life, I’ve always believed in pushing boundaries…whether it’s in tennis, business or fashion!” Williams said in a canned statement.

“By offering my Signature Statement collection exclusively through an innovative retailer like HSN, I’m able to communicate directly with my fans. This year my runway show will be broadcast live, and you can shop the collection immediately afterwards. That is exciting to me and not common in fashion today.”

With the ultimate Calendar Grand Slam within her grasp in New York this summer, Williams will partner with HSN and manufacturer Tiger J to present one for her runway show.

Before the show, Williams will host a live Q&A via Periscope at 2:30 p.m. where fans can get a peek behind the scenes at the show.

“Serena is a force both on the court and on the runway,” HSN President Bill Brand said. “We love that at HSN we are able to showcase a different side of Serena. This ‘Front Row’ live stream special of her fashion show is a great way to connect Serena directly with her fans and give them the immediate opportunity to shop.”

The Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection runway show will feature 26 looks “designed for women of all shapes and sizes,” according to HSN’s press release.

After the final model walks the runway, Williams will sit down for a brief chat via Periscope to answer questions from fans and announce a special social contest in which fans can win a one-of-a-kind couture piece from the collection.

Available exclusively on HSN.com both during and immediately following the show, the collection will include 14 styles, such as faux shearing jackets, color-block knit sweaters, tunics and printed jogger pants. Prices range from $29.90 to $129.90.

The Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection Fashion Show will take place at KIA STYLE360, 639 West 46th St., at 3 p.m. Sept. 15.

The tennis queen will be on HSN on Sept. 23 to present her Serena Williams Signature Statement Collection live starting at 12:01 a.m. as part of the network’s Fall “Fashion Edit” series.

Twiggy Set To Bring London Style To HSN April 3

March 9, 2010

Former bone-thin model Twiggy is doing a line of clothing and accessories for HSN that will debut April 3, the home shopping network announced on its Facebook page Tuesday.

With “Twiggy London,” the “original supermodel is bringing a lifestyle brand of eclectic and iconic apparel and accessories from across the pond,” HSN said.

Twiggy “burst upon the fashion scene” in 1966, with her trademark look of short hair, spikey eyelashes and “waif-like figure,” according to HSN.

Her HSN merchandise will have “loads of color and embellishment.”

Can’t wait to see it.

QVC In-House Clothing Designer Susan Graver Set To Launch Jewelry Line

November 13, 2009

QVC’s in-house fashion designer Susan Graver is doing a jewelry line for the network that is set to debut next month.

According to poster to QVC’s online forums, Graver will debut her jewelry Dec. 31, New Year’s Eve.

Graver’s apparel is a mixed bag. We find some items great and fresh, like this velvet skirt, and others look frumpy and out-of-date. We don’t like a lot of the synthetics she uses.

Graver herself is a bouncy, sweet, upbeat personality, someone you’d like as your BFF.

QVC’s Web site says that Graver “finds herself drawn to vibrant patterns and colors. Specialty fabrics, tasteful embellishments, and flattering silhouettes also come into play. Perhaps the best part of Susan’s signature collection is how it makes you feel polished and put together. Easy care, easy wear — that’s Susan Graver Style.”
