Spicy-Tongued Chef Gordon Ramsay Returns To QVC Wednesday

November 15, 2010

Celebrity chef and reality TV star Gordon Ramsay often uses spicy language on his shows, and now he will “spice up the holidays” with his QVC collection, the home shopping network said Monday.

British restaurateur Ramsay is coming back to QVC to unveil the latest additions to his specialty cookware collection.

Reality TV star Gordon Ramsey will be back on QVC

The “culinary connoisseur,” as QVC called him, enjoyed a successful QVC debut in late September. Now he is scheduled to make appearances on Wednesday with special shows at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.. He is also scheduled to return Dec. 5.

“After his exciting debut, we are thrilled to have Gordon returning to QVC,” John Kelly, QVC vice president of merchandising, said in a canned statement. “Whether it’s a gift or to help create a memorable meal, his cookware line is the perfect present this season.”

Ramsay’s first cookware line was inspired by the tools that he uses in his own kitchen – both at home and in his award-winning restaurants.

The items are priced from $22 to $70, and his collection includes an assortment of culinary pieces that are designed for experts and novices alike, we are told. Put us in the novice category.

The product lineup will include the Gordon Ramsay Six Quart Nonstick Low Pressure Stovetop Cooker, Gordon Ramsay Signature Three-in-One Hand Blender with Cup, and Gordon Ramsay Nonstick Aluminized Steel Two-Piece Muffin Pan Set.

The Gordon Ramsay Signature collection will be available through QVC starting Wednesday.

QVC Vendor And Reality TV Tyrant Gordon Ramsay Makes Page Six Again

November 4, 2010

Last time we wrote about one of QVC’s newest vendors, potty-mouthed chef and reality TV star Gordon Ramsay, we got reamed for our remarks. Well, here it goes again.

Ramsay was back on the New York Post’s Page Six Thursday, with news that a British bank had filed a lien against his home. Seems that the Royal Bank of Scotland had loaned Ramsay $15 million to rescue his faltering restaurant empire, and the house was collateral.

Ramsay’s camp told Page Six that the lien only means that the bank wants notice if the chef tries to put the home on the market. Ramsay’s mouthpiece also said that he only owes roughly $6 million to the bank.

The sandy-haired chef’s restaurant empire has been trimmed in recent years, as he closed or sold off some of his high-end eateries.

TV Chef Gordon Ramsay’s QVC Premiere Coincides With Headlines About Suicide Of N.J. Chef Who Was On One Of His Shows

September 30, 2010

Potty-mouthed celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay debuted his line of cookware on QVC Thursday, the same day that news of the suicide of one of the restaurateurs he “advised” three years ago was making headlines again in New York City.

It seems like some unfortunate timing to us. Ramsay was in West Chester pitching his 11-piece collection of cookware, QVC’s Today’s Special Value at $120.

And at the same time, the New York Post was writing yet another story, a follow-up, on the suicide of Fair Lawn, N.J., chef Joseph Cerniglia. The young chef jumped off the George Washington Bridge last week.

Cerniglia, who owned the eatery Campana, was in a 2007 episode of Ramsay’s reality TV show “Kitchen Nightmares.” In that installment, Ramsay blasted Cerniglia and told him his restaurant was “about to float down the Hudson,” which the Post said was an eerily prescient comment in light of how the Jersey chef ended his life.

The Post’s story Thursday claimed that married Cerniglia had been playing hide the cannoli with his young pastry chef.

Rupert Murdoch’s tabloid also had a quote from Ramsay about Cernigilia’s death: “Joe was a brilliant chef, and our thoughts go out to his family, friends and staff.”

The Kardashians, Mad Chef Gordon Ramsay To Bring Reality TV To QVC

August 15, 2010

The Kardashians are coming to QVC

Ornery chef Gordon Ramsay and the horny (just kidding) Kardashian sisters are coming to QVC.

QVC president Mike George gave Wall Street analysts that news during the second-quarter conference call for the home shopping network’s parent, Liberty Media, last Monday.

“The Kardashians,” according to George, will launch an apparel line called K-Dash. Dash is the name of the boutique that the three beautiful sisters and reality TV stars have in LA and Miami. Kim Kardashian appeared on QVC earlier this year, selling an exercise tape.

QVC will also be adding three chefs to its roster, George said.

Will Gordon Ramsay play nice on QVC

“We’ll be launching a new celebrity chef series featuring Gordon Ramsay, well known for his ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ series and his ‘Master of Chefs’ series, which premieres this summer, as well as Lidia Bastianich, David Burke and Tyler Florence,”
George told analysts.

On the fashion front, QVC will expand its participation in Fashion Week in Manhattan. The network will co-sponsor Fashion’s Night Out with Vogue magazine, the city of New York and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, according to George.

As part of that event, QVC will launch a pop-up store in Rockefeller Center, he added.
