Chrisley Comes To HSN With Clothing Line

October 26, 2016

Our mom’s great caretaker, Irene, is a big fan of “Chrisley Knows Best” on USA Network. She tipped us off to the show.

Little did we know that this would have a home shopping connection, as Savannah Chrisley is debuting a fashion line on HSN. Viewers of the TV show got a gander of the goods on the reality series last night, and People magazine did a big story and Q-and-A with the 19-year-old about it.

Savannah Chrisley Explains Her New Clothing Line: ‘You Can Look Fashionable, While Also Being Covered’

We didn’t see the episode, but according to People Savannah traveled with her dad Todd to the Big Apple to meet with HSN vendor Giuliana Rancic.

The Chrisley Southern Charm collection will bow on HSN next spring or early summer.

It apparel is supposed to be properly modest for young women.

Needless to say, Savannah is just one of a large number of reality-TV show stars that are hawking products on home shopping networks.

HSN And TNT Pair Up To Launch Online Boutique Inspired By ‘Dallas’

January 29, 2013

Damn, our buddy at HSN, Bill Brand, has been busy.

He has done a deal with folks we dealt with when we were covering cable TV, namely TNT, as in “We Know Drama.”

The home shopping network, TNT and Warner Bros. Television Group are debuting a “Dallas” online boutique inspired by the show, all timed to coincide with the series second-season return today. The “Dallas”-inspired boutique is a fashion destination offering curated looks hand-selected by the show’s costume designer, Rachel Sage Kunin.

TNT

“HSN is about fresh and unique retail experiences. This new partnership with TNT and Warner Bros is the perfect opportunity to engage our customers in an exciting way, which is a key part of HSN’s marketing strategy,” said Brand, HSN’s executive vice president of programming, marketing and business development. “We have created a destination that transports our customer into the world of Dallas, featuring rich content, engaging social conversation and the opportunity to connect with the characters they love.”

The online shop will feature videos and tips from Kunin and give customers the chance to get the look of their favorite characters: Rebecca Sutter, Ann Ewing, Sue Ellen Ewing and Elena Ramos. The head-to-toe looks in the curated collection of HSN brands give fans the chance to emulate each character’s unique style.

“Television and fashion — and Dallas — go hand in hand,” said Sonia Borris, senior vice president, marketing & operations, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing. “And HSN is the perfect partner for this marketing initiative. We share the same passionate audience — savvy shoppers with a penchant for heated drama.”

HSN designer and brands featured in the “Dallas”=inspired collection include Giuliana Rancic, IMAN, Serena Williams, Ranjana Kahn, Vince Camuto, Robert Verdi, Jessica Simpson, Carlos Falchi, Fern Mallis, Sam Edelman and many more.

Items featured in the boutique will appear in episodes of “Dallas” this season on TNT.

RIP Larry Hagman

RIP Larry Hagman

“Dallas is engrained in pop culture in ways that no other television show has ever achieved,” said Tricia Melton, senior vice president of entertainment marketing and branding for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movie. “By partnering with HSN on this collection inspired by ‘Dallas,’ we are able to give the show’s extremely passionate fan base the chance to emulate the iconic characters they love.”

Here’s the “Dallas” boilerplate for those who hzve been living under a rock:

Produced by Warner Horizon Television, Dallas centers on the Ewing clan, an enormously wealthy Texas family whose sibling rivalries, romantic betrayals, corruption and even murder are truly legendary. The exciting drama brings back three iconic stars from the original Dallas: Patrick Duffy as Bobby Ewing, Linda Gray as Sue Ellen Ewing and Larry Hagman in his farewell performance as J.R. Ewing.

They are joined by the next generation of Ewings, who take ambition and deception to a new level. Josh Henderson is John Ross, the son of J.R. and Sue Ellen Ewing, while Jesse Metcalfe is Christopher, Bobby’s adopted son. Jordana Brewster also stars as Elena Ramos, John Ross’ former girlfriend; now back in Christopher’s arms, while Julie Gonzalo is Pamela Rebecca Barnes, formerly known as Rebecca Sutter — Christopher’s now-estranged wife.

In addition, Brenda Strong stars as Bobby’s wife, Ann; Mitch Pileggi stars as Harris Ryland, Ann’s scheming ex-husband; and two new series regulars join this season: Emma Bell as Emma Brown, a sheltered beauty whose father has taught her to distrust the world around her, and Kuno Becker as Drew Ramos, Elena’s troubled brother who returns to Southfork.

Suggestion To QVC Jewelry Maven Joan Rivers: Rename Your ‘Fashion Police’ Segment ‘Starlet Or Harlot?’

September 15, 2010

We know from her documentary that QVC jewelry queen Joan Rivers is a workaholic, but she still continues to amaze us with all her ventures.

In the latest expansion of her activities, the E! “Fashion Police” specials that Rivers often hosts have became a weekly series. We caught a repeat of the first one Monday, while we were at the gym.

Rivers makes her catty comments along with a panel that includes a slimmed-down Kelly Osbourne, E! and Style Network whatever Giuliana Rancic and celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos. The show’s normal time slot is Friday’s at 10:30 p.m.

According to E!, “Backed up by her chorus of ‘couture cops,’ Kelly, Giuliana and George, Rivers and company will cut a swath
through the jungle of tacky celebrity fashion to reveal who fizzled, who sizzled and who should have just stayed home in a housecoat. They will cover the good, the bad, and most assuredly the ugly, along with everything in between.”

Joan Rivers is captain of the newly expanded 'Fashion Police'

On the installment we saw, Rivers blasted Julia Roberts for the kimono-like dress that the actress wore to the debut of “Eat, Pray, Love” in Japan. The comedian made a comment to the effect that Roberts’ dress was the biggest bomb to hit Japan since Hiroshima.

The panel liked some of Jessica Alba’s looks, and hated others. Alba can do no wrong in our book, since we share the same birthday, April 28.

It’s obvious that Rivers hates anything Miley Cyrus wears, but thinks Taylor Swift is a fashion icon, along with Natalie Portman.

One of the show’s segments is “Starlet or Streetwalker?,” which is exactly what it sounds like. But we suggest a better name for that bit: “Starlet or Harlot?” On the episode we saw, the Fashion Police panel pegged a hot-pants wearing woman as a hooker, and when the woman’s face was revealed it was Kate Gosselin.

Some of the show’s other segments include “Red Carpet Roll-Out,” which takes viewers to star-studded events around the world, and “Rack Report,” which showcases those female celebrities who are carrying more than their fair share up top.

The fashion police also hit the streets to assess the style choices of celebrities out and about in the “Caught Casual” segment, and will skewer who show a bit too much flesh in “Skin Flick.”

Other segments include “What the Hell Happened to…” and “What Were You Thinking?” And the fierce foursome will spotlight some of Hollywood’s tastiest tresses in “Hair Play.”

Finally, some of the hottest names in fashion will stop by the set to bring the latest style news and their own personal opinion to the debate.

The “Fashion Police” team will also visit TV and film sets to get an inside look at the wardrobes of today’s hot celebs.

Joan’s commentary and her three fellow “police” will close each episode as she runs down the final ‘best and the worst’ of the week.
