MacKenzie-Childs Lands on QVC From ShopHQ

We guess we were all wondering where upscale home goods provider MacKenzie-Childs would end up after leaving its long-time home, ShopHQ, the end of last year.

One our readers posted the news: QVC is running promos saying that MacKenzie-Child is joining its roster.

Here’s what’s on QVC.com right now.

Their stuff is gorgeous, bu we can’t afford $1,000 for an Easter rabbit statue or $150 for a pillow.

  1. Elsie Says:

Sorry, I don’t even think it is gorgeous. It’s one of the reasons I stopped watching hq at all. There were only about 4 products on..anymore..that line Invicta and the isomers or questionable zDr and snake oil products. Now we’ll have to hear the Q hosts fawn over them. We’ll better there than on hsn. I much prefer HSN all around.

    • TA Says:

I agree, I’ve always preferred HSN as well. I hope the new president of HSN, who comes from QVC, doesn’t favor QVC at the expense of HSN, which has happened already as too many of HSN’s products are now on QVC.

QVC is so stuffy and uptight. I don’t want that to happen to HSN.

      • Lainie Says:

        TA

I’m afraid that with the new president there will be more of a QVC influence. They’ve already QVC’d HSN to death; I don’t think they’ll turn back. Unfortunately, the HSN we have is all we’re left with. It doesn’t make me happy, to say the least.

I read the other blog with the 4% loss, and blogger Judy’s post will make the Mackenzie Childs fans out there upset, or swoon. She made out big at a thrift store. Me, too, Ms Moss; I can’t afford the outrageous prices. But some of those Halloween pieces caught my eye, too. Carry on, Judy, you did great!!! And props to your bf… he has a good eye.

Now back to work for me. I will be done by Wednesday evening, and if no more comes in, I’ll have a long weekend off. I’ve already told my clients I’ll be out of town for the weekend, so next week will probably bring in lots of work. More work, more $$.

  2. pasha2k Says:

I LOVE Mackenzie-Child, but never bought off ShopHQ, i buy off their web page, sale items, saving a lot. I just hope QVC doesn’t force them to not have web site available to us.

  3. cp Says:

pasha2k, I agree with Ms Moss that QVC isn’t in a position to do that. They’ve got plenty of other vendors that sell elsewhere, including on their own companies’ websites.

What you’ll likely see are items “made exclusively” for QVC and thus not available on MKC or other retailers’ websites. For example, with brands like Le Cruset they’ll often have “exclusive” colors. But sometimes you have to read the fine print, because it may mean they’ve cut corners, such as using cheaper materials, to cut production costs.

    • Jerri Says:

      cp,

That’s true. I’ve found with the “special colors”, etc on the home shopping channels, that the product is not the same. They cut corners on most of those things. They cut corners on everything, really. I don’t buy anymore at all. But my rule when I did was nothing expensive, especially jewelry.

And they can’t prohibit people from going to their vendors’ websites. Like you said, they have those exclusive items for the shopping channel that may not be on their website. But you can shop their website. No worries, Pasha. I’ve been buying off Andrew Lessman’s website for about 23 years. I believe going to the website yields fresher product, and more inventory. Oh…. and way less hassle than dealing with shopping channels’ horrid customer service.

  4. Stephanie Says:

Did a quick look on QVC this morning. Mackenzie-Child=one dinner plate was $40 give or take some change. Yikes! Judy, you sure did get a bargain.

    • Judy Says:

      Stephanie,

I sure did get a bargain….$40/plate is pretty steep. I doubt I will ever be able to add to this collection, so I’ll enjoy it while I can.

  5. Cheryl Says:

The pillows made me laugh, but I wouldn’t buy one. Looking at the collection, I thought of Jill Bauer. This brand might be right up her alley.

  6. GiGi Says:

I don’t like all MacKenzie Childs stuff, but some is fun and whimsical. I gravitate toward the seasonal/holiday themed things. I buy from clearance off their website, too, Pasha. And Judy, I am completely jealous! But good for you….enjoy!!

QVC has become silly and stale, and I’m not sure MacKenzie Childs will do well on there. I wouldn’t buy anything from QVC. I used to buy from HSN…not tons but somewhat regularly. They changed back in the early 2000s and my buying went way down. Due to poor quality and high prices/shipping, I don’t buy anymore. I watch to get ideas and when I’m bored.

  7. Ella Says:

I’ve been watching more HSN, mainly out of boredom. I go back to “watch now” to catch up sometimes. I noticed last weekend that Val was hosting Giuliana; I guess you could call it hosting. She’s been much more “all about me” lately. She actually left G on stage alone for a few minutes to run off and order something! I thought that the hosts weren’t allowed to order on air. Only off camera, or have someone at home, etc do it for them.

I like Val, but she’s getting out of hand. Another one is Marlo. She dropped the dazed and confused thing but still rambles on, and on, and on…….. Please set them down and have a talk with them, whoever monitors these things. They are unpleasant to watch. This is why your numbers keep going down, among other things. I like both women but they need a serious reality check. I noticed Val hasn’t been on much this week. Maybe she’ll come back without a swollen head, hopefully.

    • Ryanne O Says:

      Ella

I’ve noticed Marlo and Val, too. I also like them, but they’ve been annoying to watch for awhile. And Val has gone off the deep end lately. I think they’re worried about their jobs, but are acting up in the wrong way. Marlo has been off kilter for a few months now.

I hope they go back to their previous ways, because they were good hosts and very likeable. But some hosts are definitely an issue affecting ratings and sales. Desperation isn’t going to encourage anyone to buy things.

    • Stephanie Says:

A few months ago one of the hosts on HSN, during a show, said she wanted to order something right there but if she did they would “kill her”. So I guess rules have changed. All the home shopping channels are getting more desperate for sales to no one’s surprise.

      • Jerri Says:

        Stephanie,

I think they are still forbidden from ordering on air. I think Val got carried away. And she was absent for several days, so they may have had words with her. Hopefully. She was acting up like a disobedient child.

My BIL left yesterday with a condo he likes here in mind. He’s going to put his up for sale, then come back in a week or so. He put a small holding deposit on the one he likes here. It will be nice to have him nearby.

This will be a kick back weekend, for sure.

    • TA Says:

I like Val and Marlo. Maybe their dazed because all their products are now on QVC and they have nothing to sell. I noticed Lancome and Serious Skin Care are both now on QVC. QVC has ravaged HSN, what kind of partnership is this?

  8. Lainie Says:

I posted a couple days ago and forgot to hit comment, I think. Tom and I had a wonderful weekend with my friend and we got back Monday night. Both my friend and I have work this weekend so we’ll skip this one and look forward to next weekend and a long Easter weekend. Easter!!!!! How can it be here already?!?

I’ve noticed what Ella and Ryanne have posted about, too. There needs to be some intervention; things are getting crazy. And the repetition… please bring in some better fashions and skin care, and lower Dimitri’s prices. His stuff is good but $$$$ and it was affordable at HQ. And the jewelry…. more quality control is needed.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend. I’ll be working but taking breaks so I don’t turn into a calculator!!

    • Judy Says:

      Lainie

Marlo and Val need a reality check. Marlo has calmed down a bit but still talks like a lonely parrot. I like them, too…. but an intervention is needed. Today’s fare is pretty boring. I remember the mattress shows, and how sleep inducing they were. Most of what they show now is worse.

We went to my brother’s for dinner last night but mostly have been staying in…… and saving money. Bf is working a couple days a week, that’s it. Food keeps going up. I feel bad for people who have families and are having a hard time. We all are, for the most part. A change is needed, for sure. We give to the food bank, that’s our way of helping.

      Jerri,

I hope your BIL sells his current house quickly. The Bay Area is getting worse crime wise. Everywhere is, really. But I think it will be good for him to be near you guys. He must miss his dad a lot. Moving is a big job, but so worth it when it’s done.

      • Jerri Says:

        Judy,

Today’s programming on HSN is even more boring than yesterday’s. I need to rest today but it won’t be while watching HSN. Gardening all day long 😟.

My BIL has wanted to move here for awhile. Mr’s sister likes it, but she and her husband are stuck in the Bay Area, as are my brother and SIL. Some people just can’t leave home. That’s understandable. I hope BIL’s house sells quickly. It’s a hot market where he lives and his house should go fast. Thanks for the good wishes.

  9. Ryanne O Says:

She hasn’t been on much recently but I’ve noticed, as many of you mentioned, that Kathy Wolf is classing up her act. She has been wearing flattering clothing, and her hair and makeup always look great. Other than her “sexy” phase before she was fired (and that was probably the reason), she was a good host. And she’s a good OAP now.

i used to enjoy Chris hosting the late Marilyn Miglin. After Chris left, Kathy did a wonderful job. I used Marilyn’s skin care for a long time. Then HSN dropped it. It was too expensive on her website, so I just went to something else. Anyway, Kathy was great with Marilyn.

I miss shopping with HSN but they have nothing for me anymore. The quality has slipped badly, and the prices and shipping costs are prohibitive. I think home shopping is on its last leg. And the repetition of products, like today, is too much.

    • TA Says:

I suspect Kathy was let go because she revealed on the air that the competition was examining  HSN’s inventory. Unbeknownst to Kathy they were preparing for the hostile merger. I don’t remember what Kathy was selling at the time but I remember her saying that; I saw that live. Then shortly after it was announced that Kathy was leaving HSN.

I read that QVC did have some stock in HSN previously but not enough to take it over until the hostile merger.

I wonder what the HSN shareholders (who sold their stock) to QVC, are thinking now while watching QVC dismantling HSN?

I know HSN is getting a new boss from Macy’s, I wonder what she’s there for really?

      • Sandra Says:

They let Bill Green go at the same time. Getting rid of hosts with seniority and higher pay/benefits was what they did. If Kathy had let that remark slip, there’s no way they’d let her on air as an OAP as she now is. But I agree; they were getting ready for the merger.

      • TA Says:

I saw with my own eyes, and heard with my own ears Kathy say that during her normal weekday, morning shift. Yet presently Kathy is currently on the air representing Philips, an “OAP” as you say.

      • Sandra Says:

        TA,

If you heard it, then she said it. She was going through a weird phase after she lost some weight where she was always talking about how sexy she was, how sexy her husband thought she was (very NSFW, IMO) and perhaps she said that because the high ups at HSN told her to stop talking sexy so she came up with that, lol! People on the forum were saying how annoyed they were at her sexy speeches, her weight loss, etc. Also they were annoyed at Colleen and her “I’m a size 6!” speeches. And Kathy has always been a chatterbox.

And there was something going on with her after they fired her, and it seemed she scooted right back in there as an OAP pretty darn fast. I think she may have sought legal advice, because she kept going on about how heartbroken she was… didn’t say why, but it was right after she was fired. And she said she was retiring to spend more time with family, and then she turned around and was doing all kinds of OAP stuff. I think she had something legal on HSN and was leaning on them. Maybe they’ve had no choice but to hire her as an OAP. She has been stable lately but for awhile there she was off the wall.

Some of these hosts. …… look at Chris Scanlon. She fell hard from grace. I don’t know the details, but she has been through it , for sure. Kathy seems to need the income so she’ll probably stay stable.

      • TA Says:

Well good for Kathy, obviously she didn’t take no for an answer and got an OAP job, on HSN, when her hosting job ended.

I agree, I liked Bill Green a lot too. I also really miss Shannon Smith. She was a hoot on HSN, and extremely entertaining.

      • Deanna Says:

        TA, Sandra

I heard Kathy say that, too. It was very well blended into whatever she was talking about, but I remember thinking it wasn’t something that should be said on air.

Kathy looks great when she dresses right, hair and makeup on point, and is a good sales person. But when she hits one of her “lows”, everything goes to hell in a hand basket. Her weight is up and down, she binge eats then abstains, and records her 1001 moods on social media for everyone to see. I think having the hosts on social media is a big mistake. The shopping channels don’t need that negativity; they have enough.

I do think Sandra is onto something. I think Kathy used legal pressure to get back on HSN and so quickly. Maybe not, but I can’t see them having her on there after blabbing about behind the scenes stuff. And, just an afterthought, I miss Bill Green. He was a first class kind of guy and host. I’d have kept him over anyone else on there. Just sayin’.

      • TA Says:

I so agree with you Deanna, that HSN is a “poor shadow of it’s former self”, as you’ve said. I wish this didn’t make me so sad and little angry too.

There are enough troubles in the world that I should not be upset about the decline of a shopping channel, but to My dismay I am.

        am.

      • Deanna Says:

        TA

I always liked Shannon Smith. From her early “tech girl” days to her cooking shows, and everything in between. She had an unusual knack for being friendly and warm with guests without overstepping her boundaries. She was wonderful with Curtis Stone, and everyone else. Lou Caputo left a wonderful message on her Facebook page . She is definitely missed.

Bill Green was a friendly, professional, knowledgeable host. He knew about gems, metals, housewares, fashions, and enjoyed everything he presented. He showed the details of items and frequently threw in the fun facts about them many of us didn’t know. He showed you the back of jewelry pieces, explained everything, and you knew what you were getting.

HSN is not the same without those 2 memorable pros. And, HSN is a poor shadow of its former self.

      • Lainie Says:

        @TA, @Sandra, @Deanna

I think you guys found the reason they fired Kathy. And her remarks about how the dog healed her broken heart, etc, definitely seemed to be because HSN fired her. She didn’t retire; they all say that when they’re fired to save face. And she’s a pretty frequent OAP now.

She has been doing better with her wardrobe lately, wearing flattering, modern clothes. And she seems to be happy. I agree, @Deanna, that the hosts shouldn’t be on social media. I don’t care for Colleen, but I give her credit for keeping her social media squeaky clean. She keeps drama away from her accounts. Kathy, and some others, put too many personal details, including their ups and downs, on social media.

Anyway, it’s back to work for me. I have a ton to do this week, and next. Everyone have a good week.

      • Lainie Says:

I wanted to add that I also miss Shannon Smith and Bill Green. and you’re right, @Deanna…..Shannon could be warm , friendly, and best buddy without crossing any lines.

Dinner, then 😻 playtime, then back to work. A movie later, if I keep up with my schedule.

      • TSC Watcher Says:

Both Bill Green and Kathy Wolf appear on Canada’s TSC as On Air vendor reps.

Kathy appears for Dr. Paul Nassif’s skincare line, and does an excellent job, always prepared, professional, and polished.

Bill appears for TSC’s in house diamond jewelry shows and is beloved by hosts and viewers and does an incredible job. His expertise is very good.

Shannon Smith would be a natural fit for any decent vendor. Hopefully she’s doing well. She deserved far better than how she was treated.

  10. Judy Says:

Is it me, guys, or is Paul Woods on all the damn time with his junk jewelry? Today is Tarte cosmetics, which is good, and Paul Woods, Paul Woods, Paul Woods. Hosted by the crankier-as-time-goes-by Colleen Lopez. The repetition on HSN is almost as bad as that on HQ. Anyway, count me out for today.

Bf is picking up a little extra work this week after 3 very slow ones. Woo-hoo!! Anyway, I am trying to make a grocery list for Friday that won’t bust the bank. We stocked up for 😻😻 last week, so we won’t need anything for them. But we’re having a little get together for a few people on Saturday, so we’ll need food for that. It’s basically a buffet thing for late lunch, so it shouldn’t be too bad.

    • Jerri Says:

      Judy

I’ve noticed same. Paul Woods must have an apartment on the HSN campus. Their programming is getting more and more repetitious. I’m rereading “Animal Dreams”. Someone brought it up on here recently, and I decided to read it again. Enrich my mind with something other than expensive crap.

I’ve just finished my list for tomorrow. We discovered an organic farmer’s market, and the prices are great, for today’s standards. That helps a lot with veggies and fruits. Not too far from here and they have a huge selection. I see artichokes and asparagus in my near future. As well as blueberries, strawberries, and many others. At least we get a little break on produce.

  11. Mary C Says:

I’ve been doing a little traveling and have kept up with the blog, but haven’t participated. Lots of changes! Not a fan of Mackenzie Childs, but I’m glad they found a home. And Judy, you really did well! Luckily your boyfriend spotted that!

I’ve been looking back at some of Suzanne Somers’ Instagram shows. If you look at them in order, you can tell when she was getting sick. I remember looking forward to her shows on HSN. I recorded all the ones I missed because of work. I have some of her jewelry, a few of her PJs and clothes, and the crock pot. It still works! Anyway, that was very heartbreaking, and I feel bad for Bruce and Alan. I do think they over charge for their products.

i liked Shannon Smith and Bill Green, too. I really didn’t care for Joan Boyce, and it seems he was always stuck with hosting her. But he did great descriptions, and was very pleasant and professional . Shannon was just a natural. She could host anyone and make them feel at home. And she did have a way of being friendly and best buddy without getting too close. I miss them both.

Watching Marlo the other night, I see what people mean. She’s unfocused and blabbers on and on. Why doesn’t someone take her off till she gets her act together? And Val needs to calm down. She’s scattered and over doing it and acts like she’s the star. Too many uppers? Both have been good hosts in the past. Either fix them or get rid of them.

    • TA Says:

Marlo’s equilibrium seems to be a little off because of her braces. She can’t pronounced words, as she has before, and is no doubt feeling awkward. Marlo should be herself again once her braces are removed. I do think she is doing her job just fine, just a little differently at the moment.

Val seems okay to me. Maybe she is nervous about not knowing what havoc QVC has planned next for HSN, and whether any of the hosts will have a job there next year.

I’d rather go to the individual websites of some of the products sold on QVC, rather than purchase anything from them directly. In protest for the way they are treating HSN.

    • Jerri Says:

I’m with TA, Mary. These hosts are scared of losing their jobs. Marlo and Val are usually pretty good. Let’s give them a chance.

They tell them to amp it up, then to calm down. They don’t know what to do. And that pink slip is waving above all their heads. Hopefully Marlo will be her old self soon, and it appears Val has calmed down.

And TA, I’ve been ordering off vendors’ websites for a LONG time. Better service, more quantity, fresher product……. I started with Andrew Lessman’s vitamins and haven’t looked back!

      • Mary C Says:

        TA, Jerri

I never thought about the pressure the hosts must be under. It is probably difficult, trying to be upbeat on air, and knowing you could be gone after your show. I wish Marlo and Val the best. To your point, Jerri, they’ve been good hosts for a long time. Generally speaking, the HSN hosts are much more professional than the QVC ones.

Well, no matter who’s hosting, today we have lots of Beekman. I don’t care for their products, but it seems they are on way too often. Put Dimitri or Nassif or someone on more! I think back to HSN n 2000, 2001, and there wasn’t anywhere near this much repetition. But…. that was then.

      • TA Says:

        Ella,

There is so much repetition of products on HSN because QVC has taken literally every good product, from them.

I remember when HSN was kicking QVC’s butt, it was so entertaining and fun back then. To look at HSN now is tragic.

I can’t help feeling that all that talk about a partnership, between HSN and QVC was a complete lie, as greedy QVC continues to take all of HSN’s inventory and vendors for themselves.

      • Ella Says:

        TA

It sure seems like that’s what’s happening, doesn’t it? I was thinking about this awhile back, after the merge…. that QVC was going to gradually eliminate HSN. And it seems to be happening.

And it is a shame. HSN was so much fun to watch going back to the late 1990s and early 2000s. You could actually watch for entertainment. And goodness sake, there are plenty of vendors out there. Must they have the same ones on both channels? And they wonder why their profits are dropping…..

  12. Ella Says:

I realize that these hosts are walking on eggs. So please dismiss any overly critical remarks on my behalf. But the programming needs a huge change. And Beekman AGAIN?!? Awhile back, they’d have one person or product…. for example, Suzanne Somers….. and she would have a few 2 or 3 hour shows. But they’d have different things in between. Like with ultrex, the horrible Teflon cookware…. he’d be on during the day, but other things in between. They do have other things now, but the main thing is on ad nauseum.

I don’t understand the reasoning behind having to get everything from home shopping. A woman who worked at the paper used to get everything except groceries from home shopping. Skin care, makeup, clothes, household items, and lots more. That’s still going on, according to the forums. I bought more from them in the past, but maybe about 1/8 of my total purchases, at most. Anyway, people will have to figure it out when these channels are gone.

Thunderstorms here today and tomorrow. Good weather for watching TV. So I think I’ll put a movie on and make some hot cocoa. Have a good weekend, everyone.

  13. Judy Says:

We’re having rain, too, Ella. TA, I agree about QVC trying to eliminate HSN. Subtly, but it’s happening.

I decided to put my MacKenzie Childs plates, etc, out tomorrow. To show bf my appreciation, and to wow our guests, especially after they find out how I got it and what a bargain it was. I’ll make lemon-limeade in the pitcher, and serve sandwiches and fruit on the platters, and cake and lemonade on the small plates. Should be fun and a great chance to see people and have some good food.

i was looking at Colleen Lopez’s Facebook, and her grandson just turned 4. Sure doesn’t seem like it’s been that long since she announced his birth. Time is flying. Bf has a long work day today, then he’s off for 3 days. 😻😻 have been missing him all week. They’re all over him when he comes home. It’s really sweet to see them greet him. Have a good weekend, everyone.

    • Jerri Says:

      Judy

No rain here yet; it’s sunny and warm. But by Sunday it’s supposed to be rainy and cooler. I’m actually glad; I’m not ready for Summer yet. Your get together sounds nice.

Wow….surprising that Colleen’s little grandson is already 4. The time does fly. She seems to love being a grandmother. I know the feeling. My grandsons are grown, but they’re still part of my heart.

Mr is out getting Chinese food to bring home. It’s going to be dinner, then 🍸🍸 on the patio, then movie night, with all of us, including 😻😻, relaxing in bed. This weekend, we’re going to stay home and relax. And I hope all of you have a great weekend.

  14. Ryanne O Says:

Today on HSN, it looks like Andrew Lessman and DG2, mostly. I’m a big fan of AL, but I buy his vitamins from his website. I read on here that someone else does, too. No more billing mistakes, double charges on my credit card, late shipments, out of stock…….. CS at HSN has become a nightmare. It has been for years. Buying from his website, everything is correct. He has some deals for HSN exclusively, but you don’t save that much that it’s worth the trouble. Anyway, I highly recommend Andrew Lessman’s vitamins and getting them directly from his company.

There has been much more repetition of products over the last couple years. Now that we’re past the pandemic, and things are moving again albeit slower, you’d think they could have different vendors besides the ones QVC and HSN have on constantly. Even for the holiday season there was too much repetition. And to TA’s point, why do all of HSN’s vendors go on QVC, too? I’ve never been a fan of QVC, but they used to have their own brands and vendors. Now they still have some of those, but many of the HSN vendors go over there, too.

  15. Maeve Says:

In regards to Marlo and Val. Marlo seems to have had some kind of dental procedure (braces? dentures?) and I think she’s trying to get used to it, and it’s causing a change in her on air persona. Marlo has been a good host for many years. I’m wishing her the best as she works her way through this.

As for Val, I was disappointed and offended by a presentation she made about a week ago featuring a Bissell (I think) cordless vacuum. She actually put people down who still “used corded vacuums and other appliances that were available cordless”. I don’t remember the exact words, but something like “behind the times, old fashioned, outdated”. There’s also the bizarre airing where she left G Rancic alone on stage so she could go off and order something which was mentioned up thread.

I’m retired, so I’m “old” to some people. I have a cordless vacuum that I love. I have a cell phone. But I do still have a landline, which, of course, is corded. For emergencies, or when the cell doesn’t work. If that makes me outdated, then I am, and I don’t care! My daughter has 2 vacuums. Both are corded. She likes them and they work for her. Is she outdated? I’m sure she doesn’t care either way.

In addition to this insulting presentation, Val has turned up the volume way too much, IMO. She has to be the center of attention, trying to outdo OAPs, vendors and models! I get that the “big guys” want the hosts to be upbeat and enthusiastic; I doubt that means talking over guests or degrading people for the type of vacuum they have. And they do sell corded vacuums on HSN, I’m pretty sure.

To Marlo and the other good hosts who may have an off day, I feel for you. I hope things go well for you from now on. I don’t want to see Val lose her job, but I think she should be put on a temporary leave of absence and severely warned and reprimanded. A couple weeks without pay, and a very stern lecture should aid in a much needed attitude adjustment. Hopefully she’ll do better afterward. If not, then she must face the consequences.

    • Judy Says:

      Maeve,

I didn’t know about the vacuum presentation till I read your post earlier. That makes me feel insulted, too. The only reason I have a cordless vacuum is because it came with the boyfriend, who moved in somewhat recently. There’s no excuses for saying those things, other than she ran out of what to say and stupidly blurted that out.

I know they’re under a lot of pressure, and definitely deserve to be cut some slack. And I don’t want to see Val get fired. But she needs a huge reality check from the management and I agree about a “time out”. She has been very obnoxious with the camera hogging and out talking and out doing everyone. Also, I looked this up on the HSN forum, and other people are angry about it, too. I saw a clip from the vacuum show and also the one where she left G standing there alone on stage. She needs to be dealt with ASAP.

Your post was well thought out and accurate. You’re not picking on anyone. Hopefully TPTB at HSN will see it and take action, and hopefully Val won’t need to be fired.

    • Jerri Says:

      Maeve

I just noticed your post. I watched Marlo a few days ago hosting Cate Bandel (Nina Leonard) and she was having a horrible time….. and so was Cate, who looked uncomfortable and puzzled. The excuses for Marlo are: weight loss, menopause, dentures or braces, and other stuff. If she’s having trouble with menopause, she can talk to her doctor about something to help her get through the symptoms. I have never seen anyone go batty because they lost weight. Ditto braces, dentures or whatever. I like Marlo, but she needs to take time off to deal with this stuff and come back functional for her job. NOT excusing Val but at least her outbursts aren’t as uncomfortable to watch. If Marlo can’t do her job, they need to let her go. She’s had several chances and I can’t believe they aren’t giving her time off.

And Val needs time off. … or time out….. to stop and think about what an a$$ she’s being lately. I have a cordless vacuum. I have cell as well as corded phones. If I want to buy a cord vacuum, I will. That remark wouldn’t have set well with me, either. I like her, too, but she needs to think before she speaks. And quit taking completely over the presentation. Some of these hosts need to be reined in and checked. Again, if she can’t do her job, let her go. That remark was really offensive, and Val should be severely reprimanded.

    • Lainie Says:

      @Maeve, @Jerri

Before I came here to post, I watched the accompanying videos to the 2 shows you mentioned. Marlo should be taken off air until she can do her job, and Val needs to be talked to like change or you’re outta here. That comment about the corded vacuums was downright rude. As for Marlo, she gives off drug vibes or mental illness vibes. Someone needs to give her a leave of absence because she is making everyone uncomfortable. If braces make you act like you’re high, get rid of them. And many of us went through menopause, uncomfortable or not, and showed up for work, for our families, for our lives. HSN, wake up, THERE’S SOMETHING ELSE WRONG HERE!

I like both hosts, and Marlo goes back a long way. I hope both can be rehabilitated so that they do their jobs like they’re supposed to.

  16. Stephanie Says:

Next in line to leave Shop HQ is Dallas Prince. No mention of her next destination, if any.

    • Judy Says:

      Stephanie,

As I recall, her husband was very ill awhile back. Hopefully he’s doing ok, seems he beat whatever it was at the time. Maybe she will be leaving home shopping and do ???? Shop HQ is losing them right and left. Pretty soon there’ll be 4 hosts and all they’ll show is Invicta watches.

Our little get together was very nice, even though it rained most of the day. I didn’t do pot luck, but a few people brought food to share which was thoughtful. Anyway, bf is sleeping, work was tiring last week. We’ll probably watch movies later. I might check out some of the beauty stuff on HSN , just for old time sake.

      • Stephanie Says:

Judy: I remember when he got sick. HQ is selling her things at a final price, no returns. Good luck buying that way, sight unseen. I have see Dallas’ items elsewhere, Overstock, even Amazon I think. Yes, HQ has lost several vendors but some go back. Anuschka, GEV, and another handbag vendor I can’t remember the name of right now, etc. have left HSN and QVC and returned to them. Beekman goes back and forth. I think HSN/QVC had stricter rules and regs re time and prices from what has been said.

Glad you had a nice get together. We had a lot of rain also. Can’t wait for it to warm up here.

      • Judy Says:

        Stephanie

Yes. So much host and vendor moving around, it’s dizzying. I had a feeling Dallas might not stay long this time…… well, it was less time than I thought. And no return policy on her stuff? No thank you.

My “visit” to beauty day on HSN was short, too much repetition. Dimitri looks interesting…. and very young. His products are too expensive. And he’s not considered clean by HSN. Surprising. He was clean at HQ, and TSC. Also, I looked him up about 3 years ago and his products were considered clean by some skin care experts. Come on, HSN doesn’t have high standards. What’s going on? They consider goat boys stuff clean, and it isn’t. I think, then, the only 2 truly clean skin care products on HSN are Paul Nassif, and Liz Folce (Nakery). I believe Active Argan may be clean, too…or whatever Morgan Schick’s stuff is called. And I wouldn’t buy anything from HSN now…. if they consider the goat boys clean but not some others.

The rain is clearing up but it looks like patchy skies the rest of the week. We are in the 60s today. Spring in the central valley is unpredictable. But it is gradually warming up. I hope it warms up where you are, too.

  17. Linda Says:

    Dallas is going to QVC.

    • Lainie Says:

      @Linda,

Thanks. I kinda thought it might be elsewhere. Let’s see how long she stays. Apparently the higher ups at Qurate don’t give you much leeway with designs, etc. She wasn’t at HSN in the mid late 2000s too long, either, and that was long before Qurate took them over. It’s getting tough out there.

  18. Judy Says:

I’m posting this here so as not to disrespect Mark Brown’s get well wishes.

I came to say Happy Easter to all who celebrate. Last evening I was busy with laundry, cat duties, and later cooking. I left HSN on mute (my cats don’t like the music, either, Jerri) and finally sat down to Finally Friday with Marlo, the second hour. She was weird with the plant lady, but when Liz Folce came on, Marlo started grinding her hips and shaking them. Liz looked shocked, then she burst out laughing. I turned the TV off at that point. Marlo needs to go.

People on the HSN forum are now being more realistic and citing drugs and or alcohol for her behavior. That was disgusting……”watching Nicki grind”……for all you Prince fans who might remember “Darlin’ Nicki”. We don’t need to see empty headed Marlo grinding. All she needed was a pole.

Anyway, WTF is wrong with HSN, letting that lunatic go on air? I felt sorry for her at first. After last night, no more. Maybe she hopes one of the male vendors she’s drooled over in the past saw that display of horrors. And I should go back and Watch Now, to see how Liz did that show. She has good composure, but that was enough to shock anyone. I won’t be surprised if Liz refuses to be paired with Marlo after that.

Anyway, it’s going to rain tomorrow, so our BBQ isn’t going to happen. We’ll have roast chicken instead, and my SIL, brother and Tom are coming over. Have a great weekend everyone. And again, happy Easter.

    • Lainie Says:

      @Judy

My friend came to visit Thursday evening, and since both of us have been working hard, we decided to take it easy this weekend. I had HSN on mute last night, too. I was putting away the dishes, then I sat down to watch TV. That’s when I saw Marlo’s “Darlin’ Nicki” moves. And yes, I remember that song. I am a huge fan of Prince. My friend looked at me, and said, “WTH was THAT?!” after Marlo’s grind. I felt sorry for Liz. I agree; that may have been her last show with Marlo. It certainly would have been mine.

Time for Marlo to take a long leave of absence…. in rehab. If she can come back and do her job, find. If not, bye bye. It’s a shame, she’s been on HSN a long time. But there is something really wrong with her and it’s affecting her on air persona. I can’t believe HSN is letting this continue.

I want to wish all of you who celebrate Easter a very happy one. We just finished a brunch that we both made; it was great. My friend will be leaving Monday evening. 😻 is on my friend’s lap, enjoying being the center of attention. It’s raining here, continuing tomorrow. I expect all Easter egg hunts will be moved indoors! It’s a good weekend to stay in and relax. And I wish all of you a good one 💐🐇🌷🐣🌼.

      • Jerri Says:

        Lainie, Judy,

Firstly, I’m here to wish everyone who celebrates, a happy Easter. No lie, it sneaked up on me this year. I’m glad the boys are no longer interested in Easter Baskets. They’re invited for Chinese tomorrow night. Pizza is our dinner tonight. It’s going to rain tomorrow and Monday, so no BBQ here, either. We BBQ’d steaks last night.

I watched hour 2 of Finally Friday after reading your posts. Well, most of it. Yes, I remember Darlin’ Nicki. One of the other hairdressers had a client (in the mid 1980s) who was obsessed with it. I’m a Prince fan, too. Anyway, in addition to her NSFW moves, Marlo couldn’t STFU and let her guests speak. The plant vendor and Liz ended up nodding and smiling a lot. Alexandra (power chair OAP) tried to hold her own but Marlo kept on yakking over her.

Boo on HSN for allowing her behavior to continue. She has a substance abuse problem, or needs psychiatric therapy. She acts batshit crazy and is in no shape to host. Mr saw the “grind” and asked me if I was watching a skit from SNL or other parody.

In addition to her outlandish behavior, could she get her pants any tighter? Go up a size, and down a couple ratings….from R to G. She looked melted and poured into those white jeans. Then with the gyrating…….heavens help us!

i agree with Lainie’s solution. Long leave of absence with mandatory rehab or psychiatric help. If she still can’t host, then she gets fired.

  19. Mary C Says:

I believe in giving everyone a chance, but Marlo has had many. I saw the hoochy koochy moves, too. Totally uncalled for and definitely NSFW. Liz was pretty surprised. Take her off air, get to the root of the problem, and if she doesn’t solve it, goodbye. She’s making it very uncomfortable for people she works with, especially OAPs and vendors. And most viewers don’t want to see that. And she is terrible about interrupting and talking over her guests. She rambles on mostly about senseless stuff. Let your guests speak. We want to hear about the products, not see you, Marlo, shake your butt and blabber nonsense.

Also, my wishes for a very happy Easter for everyone who celebrates it. We are getting rain today and tomorrow. So our Easter will be indoors. I made small, simple baskets for the kids, with candy and gift cards. I’ll be glad when they’re over them, too, Jerri. Easter didn’t sneak up on me but I’m not really ready for it mentally. Have a good weekend, everyone.

    • Ryanne O Says:

      Ladies

Myth buster, here. I’ve been on the HSN forum and those people are NUTS. First of all, Marlo never had breast cancer. Amy did, you HSN forum morons. Marlo may have had bariatric surgery, but she isn’t any thinner. She’s still heavy and yes, Jerri…. she definitely needed to size up in those pants. 😩 Don’t kill me, I’m not fat shaming. Just reporting what I see, which is a still chunky Marlo. She looks ok….just not thinner. Braces…. for what? She’s in her mid to late 50s. Her teeth were fine. Menopause is easy, there are medications for that to improve your well being as you go through it. And….. none of the above things cause PSYCHOTIC BEHAVIOR. DRUGS AND ALCOHOL DO THAT.

I’m for second chances, but Marlo has been off the wall since last Fall. HSN needs to issue her an ultimatum. Get better or leave. And they need to make her take a long leave of absence. I agree, she needs rehab. Please don’t listen to those weirdos on the HSN forum. A few are ok. Most of them are mentally off themselves.

If you observe, happy Easter to you. Have a wonderful Sunday.

      • Ryanne O Says:

        to clarify. ..

Menopause is not easy, but finding something to help you feel better is.

The morons on the HSN forum keep calling Marlo (Smith, HSN) Marlo THOMAS and other weird last names. How hard is it to remember Smith?? Maybe the people on that forum are drunk or high. Or fractured.

  20. Deanna Says:

I saw that hour of Finally Friday. What a mess. The gyrating hips of Marlo in the too tight pants… for absolutely no reason. And the blabbing on and on and on, saying nothing, really. What a horrible mess. And poor Liz….. I actually want to try her facial serum, but I’m ordering it from her website. And I sent HSN an email telling them why. I don’t want to buy anything from Marlo. She needs help… and quickly. They need to take her off air. Get better or get out.

i saw Callie’s cooking show. She’s a good host, calm, and usually good about not interrupting her guests. Last night’s fare was very underwhelming. Stuff to throw money away on and never use. Callie should be doing Finally Friday. And a funny side note, at the beginning of Callie’s hour, the camera zoomed in on a plate of food supposedly made with the chintzy cookware. On the plate was a bug jumping around. That camera was cut quickly!! The presentations for kitchen stuff are getting worse and worse. An egg peeler: a square box you put an egg in with water, shake, then peel. Same time it takes to peel them the old way.

if you observe, happy Easter. Clouds today, high winds tomorrow, and rain Monday. So we’re having a gloomy Easter, too. No special plans, now that the kids are all grown. A good day to catch up on rest and watch some movies or read.

    • Deanna Says:

      Heads up, fellow bloggers….important info.

I will NOT be buying Nakery serum. I looked at the reviews on HSN last night, and they’re almost all bad. So if you were watching that demo and are tempted….don’t do it!! Most people said it dried their skin out, made it red, and exacerbated their wrinkles. Snake oil salesmanship at its finest.

  21. Ella Says:

20 minutes ago, hubby asked me if I wanted to go out for Easter brunch tomorrow or get pizza delivered. I must have looked shocked…. I forgot about Easter! Dad’s death has made me feel numb. We have Pop’s cats; BIL went out of town to visit a friend. The cats have been wonderful company. But Easter slipped my mind. I opted for pizza. It’s raining here, too. I’ll make garlic bread and a big salad.

I agree about Marlo. And I hope she gets help. And I hope all you who celebrate have a wonderful Easter, and a great weekend.   🐣💐🐇

  22. Jeanne B Says:

    happy Easter folks!

I haven’t been here in a long time, and I was taking care of my dad, who had a lot of channels blocked on his cable…. including home shopping. So other than a few videos, I haven’t really watched in a couple years. Dad lives with me now and it’s a good arrangement.

I don’t know what’s gotten into Marlo. I hope you’re all wrong about substance abuse. Maybe she just got big headed. She used to flirt with several OAPs… I think she’s just full of herself. But after watching those videos, they need to give her some time off with a warning.

I’ve never cared for Valerie. Too chirpy and too much of an attention grabber. She has some good qualities, so hopefully they can calm her down a bit so she’s more pleasant to watch.

Looking at Iman’s “collection”, I’d say she went hog wild with grandmama’s table cloth and drapery selection. Those prints 🙈! And she’s so stuck up and rarely smiles, like she’s doing everyone a favor being there. I often wondered what David Bowie saw in her. She’s a cold as a snowy morning in Montana in January!! Her clothes aren’t made well, and the prints… gah! If you don’t want to be there, take your “collection” and go home.

I was on social media earlier, and saw posts from Paulina Porizkova and Sarah Jessica Parker, who have chosen to age naturally. Sarah said she is aware she looks older, but doesn’t want to stop aging. Paulina praised Sarah for letting her gray hair show, and for being cosmetic procedure free.

As a woman in her 60s, I praise both. I color my hair, because my skin is pale and my gray washes me out. But nothing on this face but skin care and makeup. For those who choose procedures, rock on! Some dermatologists do beautiful injections and work. Live your life for YOU. If you want to do that, fine, and if you don’t, fine. We shouldn’t be shamed for aging either way. Look at the alternative, and getting older is definitely better, unless you have a death wish. If men get better with age, then women do, too!

Have a wonderful, positive day and week.

    • Judy Says:

      Jeanne

I believe Iman started at HSN in 2007, so she’s been there about 17 years. Her stuff used to be better made. I’ve purchased a few things in her earlier days. Most of it is too caftan-ish for me, if you know what I mean. Now the prints are mostly horrible, Granny’s tablecloth is about it. She’s always been very stoic, and although she lightens up now and then, it’s pretty rare. There isn’t anything “fashionable” about the fashions on home shopping.

I’ve seen SJP and admired her for being natural. Same with Paulina. We need more of us to do that. I do color my hair, like you, gray washes me out. But I don’t do any cosmetic procedures. It’s fine for anyone who wants to, but it isn’t for me. I think it’s a shame people who are in the public eye…. including the home shopping hosts, feel pressured to result to cosmetic procedures to keep their jobs. Ageism is a real thing.

    • Jerri Says:

      Jeanne B and Judy,

Hurray for SJP and Paulina. We need more, much more of that. Other than coloring my hair (gray washes me out, too), I’m aging naturally. I take care of myself, but no cosmetic procedures. I’ll be 71 this Fall and I can easily pass for late 40s. Some is genetic; some is taking care of myself. But I am natural and I wouldn’t change it. For those who want to tweak nature, go ahead. It’s YOUR body and YOUR life and you should live it as you want. I agree, Judy, it’s wrong that some people are forced to do these things to keep their jobs. I am 100% against ageism and if you have that problem, stay away from me!!

I like both Val and Marlo. They’ve been way off for awhile now; especially Marlo. I hope they get their act together so they can continue to host. Marlo was actually pretty much ok with Iman the other day; I hope she finds her center again. Iman has always seemed cold to me; I generally don’t tune in when she’s on. Val just needs to calm TF down.

I hope you both and everyone else who observes had a nice Easter. It was a quiet Sunday with our grandsons, and we had a nice visit.

      • Deanna Says:

        Jerri

I saw some of the show with Iman hosted by Marlo and Marlo was like her old self. I hope she continues and stays with us at HSN. I like her and I think a lot of her strange behavior has to do with the big guys telling them to amp it up. They need to let the hosts be themselves. As for Val, she seems a little calmer. Good!!

Ageism is awful. We should be supportive of people of all ages. Good for Sarah and Paulina for aging gracefully and naturally. And boo to these companies (obviously, the home shopping channels are included here) for making their on camera people get cosmetic procedures to keep their jobs. If people want to do it fine. But they shouldn’t be forced to do it. One of my cousins tried Botox, and although she looked good, she hated it. She said she felt stiff and uncomfortable. And it wears off pretty fast, considering the cost. Anyway, bravo to aging naturally, or any way you want to.

    • TA Says:

To unfortunately a few on this forum, please stop trying to get Marlo fired, just leave her be.

Marlo has worked (very well), at HSN for nearly 30 years (I believe), and deserves respect. These personal attacks, sometimes badly cloaked in faux concern, is unwarranted and extremely petty.

Marlo has lost weight, has braces and has been accused of flirting (OMG), when actually men flirt with her, she is an attractive women.

Obviously, people here will do what they want, but I find these attacks on Marlo mean-spirited.

      • Ryanne O Says:

        TA

Everyone who has commented on Marlo has said they like her and want her to stay on HSN, including myself. We’ve all commented that she needs a time out, to figure out what has happened and get better. Her behavior has been off, and concerning, since last fall. If you can find the video where she’s hosting Chaka Khan, you will see it. She is either acting high, like she’s almost comatose, repeating herself, or she’s talking constantly and shaking her hips, or over reacting, like with Liz Folce the other day. No one here is trying to get her fired. And we are concerned, it isn’t fake. We are all rooting for her.

In all honesty, she has been flirtatious with a few OAPs. Yes, she is attractive. No, they’re not flirting with her. That has been going on for awhile. She has stopped it with this new behavior. She is normally a good host. They need to give her a leave of absence, and she needs to get medical or psychiatric help…. or both. Hopefully she can get back to her normal self and be the good host she once was.

Her present behavior isn’t good host behavior and she needs to change. They’ve given her more chances than they would have given anyone else. Hopefully she’ll get better and continue her job as host.

      • TA Says:

Admittedly I don’t know if your motivations are good or bad, but my senses tell me many are bad regarding Marlo on HSN.

I’ll pray for Marlo, and all of you too.

      • Lainie Says:

        A couple things:

        @TA

No one is trying to get Marlo fired. I find it sweet that you’re sticking up for her. But I agree with Ryanne. She WILL get fired if she continues on the way she is. We want her to get help and get better so the can keep her job. Constructive criticism.

        In general:

Over the weekend, a single woman living in a condo here passed away. The authorities couldn’t find relatives, friends, etc. So the association was tasked with the cleaning out of her condo.

It was very clean and orderly. But in the spare bedroom, there were boxes and boxes, piled high, mainly from HSN. The poor soul had a buying/hoarding problem. We’ve all known or known about someone like that. I’m posting this to remind everyone that it’s an easy habit to get into. So when you’re online with HSN, QVC, Amazon, etc, make sure it’s for something you really need and will use.

The Association is donating the clothing to a homeless women’s clothing drive. The jewelry (mostly costume) will go to St Vincents, as well as her furniture, any household items, and several large boxes of multiple sets of Curtis Stone cookware. Those things will be flagged for homeless people who are getting their own apartments, etc, and need things to start over. They are selling the few pieces of real jewelry and will apply the money to the cleaning of the condo. I think they made good choices, given the time frame, no input from any outsiders, and no known heirs.

In going through her papers, they found a contract with a crematorium. She wanted to be cremated, and her ashes scattered off the Pacific coast. So her remains were cared for in a dignified manner. I never knew her; only to say hello and chat briefly. She moved here about 6 years ago. May she rest in peace and light.

      • Ella Says:

        Another mixed bad, ala Lainie.

TA, I agree with Ryanne and Lainie. We aren’t out for Marlo’s blood, we are critiquing her and hoping she’ll take care of whatever it is that changed her. I think I speak for all of us that our concern is genuine. We want her to keep her job.

Lainie, what a sad way to end Easter weekend. It seems the lady was all alone in the world. No wonder she had a shopping addiction 😢. I do think the condo association handled it very well. They must remember, in CA you must disclose that someone died in a property you’re selling. With real estate the way it is, it probably wouldn’t deter anyone. The dispersement of her personal effects was a good choice. People need help now and those things will benefit some. May her soul rest in love and light.

BIL is home and he took the cats back. It has been lonely as hell without them. I told him we’d like to borrow them occasionally, since they are comfortable here. He was in agreement, thankfully. I especially miss the big black one who has singled me out for a long time as his lap person. I do have a bond with all of them, however.

I have another assignment, an article for a travel magazine. Another “local color” story. I think we’ll pack a lunch tomorrow and head out; hubby wants to go, too. It will be a good excuse to eat in some out of the way places, visit some little shops, and take pictures of the world we grew up in. Hopefully it will help me shed this cloak of melancholy that has enveloped me since Pop’s passing.

      • Ella Says:

That’s mixed BAG not bad. The latest keyboard update has made autocorrect go crazy. 🤬

  23. TA Says:

Admittedly, I don’t know if all the comments are motivated by good or bad wishes for Marlo. Rather than debate the issue, instead I will pray for God’s protection for Marlo and healing (we all need this). That’s the best thing I can do for her.

  24. Ella Says:

Well, guys, I was watching the Nina Leonard fashions, and there’s a dress that I liked. I won’t order from HSN so I looked online. There’s all kinds of NL fashions at Kohl’s (why didn’t I notice this?), Nordstrom rack, and many other places. Many are better and more stylish than at HSN. Cheaper, too. Just a little info I thought you might like.

Its 45° out, dark and stormy, so I’m going nowhere today. Taking a little break then going back to my article. We have a fire going and I’m drinking some hot tea. Tomorrow’s weather is supposed to be the same. Spring has been fickle this year.

    • Jeanne B Says:

      Ella

I think you’ll find the Nina Leonard clothes at Kohl’s and other stores are better made than the ones on HSN. I liked the dress, too, but I’m trying not to buy from shopping channels at all. The shipping is too expensive, and the quality isn’t there any more. Anything you can find outside of home shopping will be better, in price, if not in quality. And it seems these vendors can be at several places. They used to be “exclusive” to whatever shopping channel they were on. That has been gone for a long time.

  25. Judy Says:

We had dinner at my brother’s tonight. It was nice to get out of the house. We are winding down now, bed time soon. I watched a little HSN the other day. Marlo was on with Professor Amos. She seemed fine. Hopefully she’s feeling better. I like her Facebook, it’s got just enough personal info in it, and lots of show info. Anyway, I wonder if she’s been on meds. Some of that stuff changes behavior. Keep getting better, Marlo. We’re cheering you on!

  26. Ella Says:

The weather was decent yesterday so we headed out to work on my assignment. It’s basically about businesses that are closing permanently in the area. A few are due to the owners retiring but most are due to lack of business. There aren’t many of them, but enough that some will be missed in this little town. It’s something I hate seeing anywhere, and my heart is in this assignment. I’ve done the field work so now I’ll put the article together. My deadline is next Monday but I should be done by this Thursday.

Judy, I saw Marlo with Professor Amos (BTW, one of few things on watch now… they’re letting that slip again 🙄) and she seemed her old self. I really like the Professor Amos OAP, but some of his demos can turn the stomach a bit 🤢. What I saw of this one was fine and Marlo was good. Keep it up, girl. Also, I tend to agree about medications. Some docs want to use psych drugs to help with menopause symptoms. Not good. Maybe that’s what happened to Marlo, as people here have said.

i liked the Jay King TS today, and some of the companion pieces. The purple stone was my fave. Never got the name. Anyway, I can do better locally for price and quality. The reviews on Jay’s stuff are disappointing. I’ll treasure his old stuff and just look at the new stuff. I wish you all a good week.

  27. Lainie Says:

I’ve been working like crazy…the 15th will be here in a week! I worked all through the weekend. Marlo was good with Iman and Professor Amos. Good for you, Marlo! The medication theory is a very real possibility.

I watched a little of Colleen with Paul Woods. Is it me or does Colleen look a little different 🤔? She looks good, but there’s something different that I can’t figure out. It may be just that we don’t see her as frequently anymore.

The Jay King today’s special was pretty…I didn’t get what the purple stone was, either, Ella. But I agree about his reviews. Very off putting. So I’ll just get my silver elsewhere. I like Jay, but he’s going along with HSN’s cheapening policy. His older stuff was fab.

My sis’ BF is moving in with her. About time! He’s a lovely man, so gentle and sweet….she needs that after the very rough around the edges late husband she had. Anyway, he put his house in L.A. up for sale, and has moved in. They combined and reduced their furniture, and her place looks nice. He took me aside and told me “I’m so glad I don’t have to drive back and forth anymore!” I’m glad too, my friend! If you hit sis over the head a few times with a brick, she’ll eventually get the picture 🙄, lol!!!

Well, kids, it’s back to work for me. I had some chicken pot pie and salad, some 😻 cuddles, now back to reality! Have a good week, peeps♥️

    • Stephanie Says:

Lanie: It’s not you. I’ve been thinking Coleen looks different for a few weeks now and I can’t quite figure out why. It has to be that she had a little work done. Yes, she does look good but different.

  28. Linda Says:

I can promise you ladies that Coleen has not had “work done” but she has put on weight.

    • Linda Says:

      Colleen

    • Lainie Says:

      @Stephanie

      @Linda

I thought she looked heavier, too. You can’t really tell on her Facebook; she probably filters her photos on that. But there was definitely something different with her face, as well as a few extra pounds. She always manages to look nice so I’m not picking on her. It’s just wow…… she looks different. Sometimes a little extra weight changes people’s look too. We don’t see her as much so little changes are more noticeable.

Well, it’s back to work. I’ve had lunch, played with 😻 so he doesn’t forget who I am, and spent 5 minutes here. Hi ho, hi ho!!

  29. Jerri Says:

We’ve been busy but I managed to watch a little HSN. I’ve seen Marlo do a few shows and she’s doing better. Good for her! You’re doing great, Marlo.

I have been noticing a change in Colleen, too. She looks like she’s filled out a little, and her face is different. Maybe she had some fillers recently and they’re still settling. She does always look nice….and it’s true; not seeing her as often we notice little changes more. She’s more relaxed now and probably gained a few pounds. For some reason, after 65, it comes off very easily. It looks ok on her, though.

The weather is warming up here; 90s tomorrow. So we are enjoying the patio in the evenings as much as possible. Summer will be here, full tilt, before we know it.

  30. Judy Says:

Ok, guys, a friend who follows hosts’ facebooks told me former HSN host Leslie Machado will be on Beauty Report tonight. Supposedly with a “life changing product”. I’ll watch just to see; I like Leslie. Anyway I didn’t double check this but my friend is pretty accurate, so feel free to check it out. It seems like most hosts who are let go end up coming back as OAPs. I’ve been meaning to check Shannon Smith’s Facebook; just to see if she’s got anything going on. Just me, but I think I’d stay far away from the place that so unceremoniously canned me.

    • Jerri Says:

      Judy,

I looked at the program guide, and the only products not associated with someone else in that hour of Beauty Report are those hair growth caps. I don’t have Facebook so I can only see what’s basic, but I didn’t see anything. So I’m guessing it’s the hair growth caps, which have been on there before. Mr is going to the kids’ this evening to help our son with his computer (son and DIL have the worst luck with computers) and I was looking forward to watching Beauty Report. Now, I think I’ll get in bed with 😻😻, pop in a movie, and doze off!

    • Deanna Says:

      Judy, Jerri

i wonder about this, too. It probably is the caps. I hope she has a good presentation. We will be out this evening, and Watch Now appears to be gone. Good job, HSN…NOT.

I watched Marlo earlier with Active Argan. She did well. Hopefully she will have good shows from now on. I didn’t watch the Tweaked show…..I’m sure she did fine. So many people complain of allergic reactions in the reviews. The vendor seems a little snake oil to me.

I found the former Primetime people and lost them again. I can’t remember the website and I just followed a link. But they’re out there. I knew they would be. Google it enough, it will come up.

  31. Ryanne O Says:

I enjoyed Marlo’s presentation earlier. She’s doing better….. I’m so glad. The Active Argan is a clean product, which is good. HSN really needs more clean products.

The caps probably are what Lesley is presenting. I have my doubts about that product, but it may work for some. Good luck to Lesley. I liked her as a host.

Judy, Shannon Smith hasn’t been up to much. She’s not sure what comes next, but seems to be enjoying her free time. I always liked her, too. She was great with all the vendors and OAPs.

    • Judy Says:

      Ryanne,

Yes, it looks like Shannon is enjoying time off. That’s great. She is missed, among others.

HSN is really trying to get rid of viewers I guess. Watch now has been down since around the beginning of the month. Fine, there are other things to watch. I was thinking of ordering one of Antthony’s tops, but I know I can do better at TJ Maxx. His HSN stuff has that cheapened feel now. He doesn’t put pockets in his slacks, and it has that blah look and feel to it. His old stuff was great. Well made, too.

i missed Lesley tonight, and no Watch Now, so to heck with it. I’ve removed QVC from my remote. HSN is next, followed by HQ. I’m not someone who is stuck shopping there. And there is plenty of other stuff to watch to fill up time. Gone are the days when you dialed their number, entered your account number, and ordered whatever it was on your TV screen that you wanted. Either automated, or with a friendly, competent customer service rep. Now most are neither friendly nor competent. Time for something new.

      • TA Says:

        Ryanne,

I agree with you completely, however, QVC is responsible for the decline of HSN, since their hostile takeover, this is on them.

The only reason I continue to watch HSN is that I feel sorry for them. Also, I purchase a few cosmetic essentials there, but I know I can get them elsewhere too.

    • Ryanne O Says:

      TA,

That is the truth. Qurate has ruined HSN. And it seems QVC has gone downhill with them. I don’t like the shared vendors, nor the changes in programming. HSN was fine the way it was.

As per Judy’s point, even customer service has hit the skids. I won’t shop there anymore. I realize times have changed and retail in all forms has had to make adjustments, but home shopping has really taken a beating. And to be honest, I don’t even watch QVC for snarking purposes anymore.

      • TA Says:

I tune in for some of the fashion, but I don’t buy them because their clothes are too expensive. Summer dresses $80.00 and over?

      • Ryanne O Says:

        TA

I like to watch the fashion and beauty shows, along with some of the home and kitchen shows. But forget buying! The quality isn’t anywhere near there for the prices they are charging. I have found TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Kohl’s, and similar have much better quality for less than half the prices home shopping channels charge. Also, HSN’s prices seem to have really increased this year. Add that to exorbitant shipping, and the clothes are a bad deal. Plus there have been complaints on here, as well as elsewhere, that the clothes don’t hold up.

      • TA Says:

        Ryanne,

It’s true about all those other stores you mentioned. My friend tells me about their prices (compared to the shopping channels), all of the time.

  32. Deanna Says:

Marlo was really bad with Jaclyn Smith yesterday. She wouldn’t let Jaclyn get a word in. People on other forums saw this, too. I hope Marlo learns balance…. let the vendors speak, and participate only when necessary. The forum said she was talking over the Tweaked guy the other day, too. I think she needs to find her center, and balance things more.

Too many of the hosts are doing this, though, not just Marlo. I think they are told to amp it up, and it seems to be hard to do without talking over the vendors. Let the vendors do their job! And let the hosts interject only when necessary. I’ve noticed Lynn, who usually was very polite, talking over vendors a little lately. It makes for a confusing and unsatisfactory presentation. I want to learn about the product, not hear the host gushing and overflowing with their empty words. Come on hosts, do better!

    • Stephanie Says:

I saw some of that show and agree Marlo was amped up but honestly I thought Jaclyn was somewhat monotone and Marlo was trying to keep the show going. I watch the other home shopping channels here and there and the goings on make Marlo look tame. They all have to put on a show now and if you don’t like that style of selling, which I don’t, it’s a turnoff. As for Lynn, when she is with Jay or her other regulars I guess she has to interrupt to keep the show moving or they will go on forever. j m o.

      • Deanna Says:

        Stephanie

good point. Jaclyn is more laid back. … but they do need to keep things moving. And yes, many of the hosts are amped way up.

lol, I didn’t think of Jay King droning on. Lynn has to keep his shows moving, too. He does tend to go on, and on….. and there are a few other vendors that need a little prodding.

Thanks for adding a fresh viewpoint!

  33. Lainie Says:

Well, my work is finished, collected, and paid for! My friend will be here later and we’ll celebrate with Chinese. Tomorrow night, we’re going to a party at my sister’s. Sunday, I ain’t doing a damn thing!

Marlo was a bit amped, but I agree with Stephanie, Jaclyn was a bit dull. Her clothes aren’t as stylish as when she first came on, either. I haven’t seen anything I care for lately. And I had to laugh @Deanna… “Jay drones on and on.” True. I think the hosts should chill a little bit (especially Runyan) but TPTB think they need to be amped up like crazy to sell those Rubbermaid food storage containers and frickin’ wicker storage baskets. 🙄🙄🙄🙄. Oy Vey, don’t let me forget the $1000 hair growth caps. We wouldn’t want to miss out on those 🙄🙄🙄 🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢🧢.

Have a nice weekend, everyone. Enjoy every minute.

    • Jerri Says:

      Lainie,

I laughed like crazy at “frickin’ wicker baskets” 🤣🤣🤣🤣! I agree; some hosts need to tune it down a little but the Big Guys want them to be manic. And yes, Jaclyn Smith’s clothes have lost a bit of style since the beginning. Her K Mart stuff was better.

I have been wondering where Jennifer Juan, Chaco Canyon original vendor, has been. She was on there for about 24 years, then they put this new OAP on as though she’s the one who has been on HSN with the brand all along. No mention of Jennifer. People on all the forums are saying the same thing. HSN, and other shopping channels, your audience gets accustomed to your long term vendors, and if you replace them, you need to say something to acknowledge it! Another reason this industry is becoming crap.

I wanted to look back at the Jay King show; I missed it earlier because I had to go out. But, HSN felt the need, once again (and I think this time permanently), to get rid of Watch Now. Little things like this add up. Like Judy, I took QVC off my lineup months ago. HSN is going to go the same way soon. I’m sure Rosso’s ears, and Ari’s, won’t mind 😻😻! There’s plenty of other flotsam and jetsam to watch.

Lainie, I hope you and everyone on here has a fabulous weekend. We are staying in and taking it easy. We are having temperatures in the low 90s. Here comes Summer!! 🏜️🌵🌴🌞

      • Judy Says:

        Jerri

I’ve been wondering about Jennifer, too. I don’t know why these channels do that. At least let us know if they’re retiring, sold the business, or whatever. She’s been on there the better part of 24 years…..where is she?!

  34. Judy Says:

    Just a heads up, guys…..

First, I think Marlo is doing much better. I agree with Stephanie that Jaclyn was a little slow that day. From what I’ve seen of Val, she’s doing better, too.

I don’t know how often or how thoroughly you read the HSN forum, but there have been some disturbing posts on there about HSN. They’ve been sending out used merchandise, to the tune of bedroom slippers with grungy soles, foot muck inside, and dog hair all over them. That’s been happening a lot. Then, to return most shoes, it’s $13. That’s an expensive try on. The last time I bought shoes from HSN was about 23 years ago. They were too wide. The next time was about 18 years ago from QVC. Those were too narrow. So I buy shoes in brick n mortar so they’ll be just right.

But there are other things besides shoes being sold VERY used. At the prices they’re charging, that isn’t acceptable. A side note to TA here….that includes skin care and cosmetics. See if whatever you buy at HSN is available on the company’s own website. For example, Skinn by Dimitri James has its own website separate from HSN. You’ll find fresher products, and better inventory at the company website. Good luck to you. Many times at the companies’ websites, returns are free, too, or minimal cost.

Just thought I’d put that out there, so if any of you didn’t know that, you do now. Knowledge is power and we all deserve to be informed. Of course, I’m sure this is true of QVC and other shopping channels, too.

    • TA Says:

Regarding receiving used items from shopping channels, this has happened to my sister twice. I don’t remember if it was HSN or QVC. She complained and they sent her at least one return label. The other item she sent back, on her own, but was fully reimbursed.

As far as cosmetics, I often go to the product’s website to see what they offer. Mostly, they provide free shipping and handling on almost all the items, or some combination thereof.

  35. Ella Says:

NO ONE, absolutely no one, can even hint that Marlo over talked Wynne today. Marlo looked lovely, I must say, nodding her head throughout the presentation. One thing that surprised me was how great those clunky lace overlay pants looked on Marlo. She’s short and curvy, but they looked great on her, coupled with the matching blouse. I didn’t watch much, but I did notice how she looked very nice. Wynne, STFU once in awhile. Jeez.

I finished my assignment and promptly got a Spring cold… exacerbating my horrible allergies. So now, I’m in bed drinking tea and channel surfing. I think I might put a movie on and try to doze off. My medication has made me tired and dizzy. Have a great weekend, everyone!

    • TA Says:

      Ella,

      Feel better.

      • Ella Says:

        TA

Aw, thanks! My allergies went crazy this year… and now a cold. I am already feeling a little better ❤️. Grateful I got my assignment finished before this hit me!

    • Jerri Says:

      Ella

I hope you’re feeling better. Your post made me lol…… Wynne has diarrhea of the mouth and constipation of the brain! Marlo was a good sport, for sure. And she did look great in that white outfit. I wouldn’t expect those pants to look good on anyone, especially someone of shorter stature. But Marlo slayed in that outfit.

Wynne talks so fast and so much, I turned the sound off. Especially when I saw Marlo trying to tell people the colors of the 2 pack tank top. She kept holding them up, and opening her mouth, but Wynne wouldn’t close hers. Sound, off! Crafting today, instead of the usual Tuesday. I watched a little here and there, but it’s not really one of my interests.

At least your article is done and you can rest. For some reason, this year my allergies are going crazy, too. I’ve heard other locals say the same. Must be allergy year.
