Shaquille O’Neal Brings New Watch Line To HSN

Basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is coming to HSN Sunday shilling Drone Precision Timepieces, a new collection of men’s and women’s watches, the network said Thursday.

“The collection of 18 styles represents a new generation of timepieces fueled by passion and the pursuit of precision, style, and sophistication,” according to HSN press release.

The watch collection for men features detailed over-sized cases, intricate dials and military inspired designs, and there are women’s watches, as well,

The timepieces have leathers, carbon fiber, stainless steel, mother of pearl, and crystals from Swarovski, with prices ranging from $149 to $295.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Shaquille O’Neal back to HSN and expand our current watch portfolio with the addition of his exquisite Drone Precision Timepieces,” Anne Martin-Vachon, HSN’s chief merchandising officer, said in a canned statement. “The collection arrives just in time for the holidays and offers both men and women sophisticated, yet wearable pieces that are the perfect gift for those who seek attainable luxury.”

A portion of all proceeds will go to support the Wounded Warrior Project, which honors and empowers wounded service members and their families – a valued cause for Shaquille, who grew up on an army base and an organization that aligns with the mission of HSN Cares.

It looks like ex-ShopNBC host Charla Rines has now left a gig she had on DirecTV.

We knew that Rines was doing a show called “World of Watches,” but hadn’t know she was hosting it with another ShopNBC refugee, timepiece geek Jim Skelton.

Skelton posted this on Facebook a few days ago.

“Remember when you’re watching our show tonight (6pm EST, DirecTV Ch 227 or on our player at to chat with us LIVE via Twitter (@WOWTVCHAT) to say your goodbyes to Charla Rines!!! It’s her final show, and I hope you show her some love tonight…,” he wrote.

We don’t know where she is heading.

‘American Idol’ Judge Randy Jackson Returns To HSN To Rock Guitars

“American Idol” judge and Grammy Award-winning producer Randy “Dog” Jackson has already been on HSN this year pitching a line of watches. The home shopping network said Tuesday that he will be back this month selling guitars.

The big debut of the “Randy Jackson Diamond Edition Guitar Collection” is Dec. 16. The package supposedly combines numbered, limited edition high-quality guitars with one-on-one lessons.

“Get everything you need to learn to play, and feel like a rock star with his exclusive designer style,” or so the HSN press release said.

“I’ve created my premier Diamond Edition collection to give HSN customers the opportunity to embrace music the way I did as a child,” Jackson said in a canned statement, “I designed these exclusive guitar packages so everyone can learn, play and feel like rock stars!”

Jackson is a 20-year music industry veteran who has produced and performed with some of the world’s hottest artists.

“Passionate about guitars since picking up his first one at the age of 13, Randy has since built an impressive personal collection of guitars and believes music is the universal language that brings people together,” HSN said.

And according to Jackson, “HSN is the perfect place to launch my limited edition guitars. HSN’s connection to the entertainment industry and their passion for storytelling makes it the right platform for me to share my inspiration behind this new launch.”

Jeez, stop buttering up HSN management, Randy.

HSN’s chief merchandising officer, Anne Martin-Vachon, also chimed in.

“We are excited that Randy is returning to HSN with this limited edition, numbered guitar collection,” she said in her canned statement. “Randy is a passionate musician and icon in the music industry. This collection will give the HSN customer a chance to learn from the best and play like a star.”

The Diamond Edition guitar package includes the choice of either a solid body electric or an acoustic electric guitar that includes an instructional DVD featuring Jackson and guitar expert Scott Goldbaum, a 15W Amp, custom case, guitar strap, chord chart poster, polishing cloth, designer picks, certificate of authenticity and more, all for under $300.

And even Joy Mangano got into the act here.

“It was an extreme honor to work with Randy on this collection,” said Mangano, president of Ingenious Designs and HSN executive vice president. “Randy has detail for detail created what I consider to be one of the finest guitar collections. I’m so excited for everyone to be able to play such quality guitars.”

And Jackson is also returning to HSN with his Timepieces by Randy Jackson watch collection, with new styles for the holiday season. The custom designed watches range in price from $95 to $395, with limited edition pieces up to $3,500.

It was Melania Trump’s birthday Monday, and it is our’s Wednesday. Good times and fresh starts for Taurus, the bull. Is anyone tired about hearing about our birthday yet? Too bad.

Anyway, QVC Tuesday put out the official announcement about Donald Trump’s wife coming to QVC this Friday at 9 p.m.

The Slovenian beauty, as QVC describes her, is debuting her Timepieces & Fashion Jewelry line on the home shopping network.

“I am thrilled to work with QVC to bring my personal inspiration and design aesthetic to life,” the model said in a canned statement. “I’m proud to debut my collection of premium, affordable timepieces and jewelry and make it available to millions of women across the country. Now women everywhere can add a touch of luxury to their everyday lifestyle!”

ShopNBC Bolsters Merchandising Organization, Names VP Of Watches

ShopNBC has promoted Matthew Lubkeman to vice president of watches and appointed Rod Ghormley as vice president of home, the company said Thursday.

Lubkeman joined ShopNBC in 2004. Previously, he held buying positions for men’s clothing and watches at Macy’s. He has more than 20 years of multichannel retailing experience.

Ghormley joins the company as ShopNBC’s vice president of home. Previously, Ghormley served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager for ShopKo’s home division, and he held executive merchandise positions at Amazon, QVC, and Foley’s Department Stores. Rod has over two decades of experience in multichannel retailing.

In accordance with the NASDAQ Marketplace Rule 4350, Ghormley is being granted inducement stock options as of his first day of employment with ShopNBC, covering the right to purchase 50,000 shares of the company’s common stock. The options will have an exercise price equal to the closing price of the company’s common stock on the date of the grant.

ShopNBC Presents Its First-Ever All-Day Watch Event

There’s not much new in home shopping, but ShopNBC has been pulling a few good ones out of its hat. For example, today it’s dedicated all day to watch sales, a first-ever for the network.

The No. 3 home shopping network has tried to distinguish itself by offering upscale watches, and it sells such high-end brands as Gucci, Movado and Tag Heuer, to name a few. It has also sold Invicta and other assorted brands for years.

For Sunday’s event ShopNBC has three watches as its Our Top Value, as well.

ShopNBC’s Web Site Racks Up Most-Traffic-Ever For A Day On Cyber Monday

ShopNBC’s strategic focus on the Internet during the kick-off of the holiday shopping season apparently worked, with the network’s Web site seeing its highest traffic ever for a day on Cyber Monday, the company said Wednesday.

On Cyber Monday registered its highest traffic day year-to-date, with 114,600 unique visitors to the site.

In addition to surpassing 2008’s Cyber Monday traffic by 14 percent, Web penetration accounted for an industry-leading 48 percent of the total company sales.

The increase in traffic to the site, along with its extended product assortment and promotional offerings, led to an 18 percent
increase in sales versus last year’s same period. Total orders on increased 40 percent over the previous year.

ShopNBC’s expanded Internet merchandising initiatives and targeted Web promotions on Cyber Monday resulted in a strong response from new and active customers across several key metrics, according to the network. These positive results provided a strong finish to a successful Black Friday and an extended Holiday Shopping Weekend sales event for ShopNBC.

On Black Friday achieved a 51 percent increase in conversion over last year’s Black Friday event, with an increase of 20 percent in Internet sales for the company over the same period last year.

By introducing over 400 new online-only SKUs from TAG Heuer and Gucci watches, brand-name electronics, home decor and more, the company increased its total orders on by 73 percent over the previous year.

Cyber Monday was the finale to ShopNBC’s Holiday Shopping Weekend, which extended the traditional Black Friday into a four day gift-focused promotional event. The company bookended the two sales events with an entire weekend of gift-giving-focused programming.

ShopNBC also credited its ValueShipping initiative, which offers the customer one-low-rate shipping for all purchases made within a 24-hour period, for helping to drive its success Black Friday weekend.

“During the kick-off to the holiday shopping season, we took this opportunity to strategically direct the customer to our Internet channel,” ShopNBC president and CEO Keith Stewart said in a prepared statement. “As a result, the customer reacted very positively, and delivered its most impressive gains across the board since the beginning of my tenure as CEO.”

Added Stewart: “Our targeted yet integrated multimedia promotional activity and extended web product assortment, complemented by ValueShipping and a Jan. 31 extended return policy, enticed the customer to tune in, browse and shop our brand with total confidence. It’s all about connecting emotionally with the customer and making their holiday shopping experience easy and entertaining through a gift-focused strategy. We look forward to continuing to delight the customer as they discover many more new and wonderful opportunities on ShopNBC throughout the holiday season.” new and active customer counts in November were up 60 percent and 54 percent, respectively, largely driven by the holiday shopping weekend event, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Internet sales in November were up 31 percent versus last year, with dot-com customer activity outpacing TV customer growth for the first time in the company’s history.

“We are pleased with these positive results, as the Internet continues to prove to be a highly complementary and powerful growth vehicle for the company,” Stewart said.

ShopNBC Adds Hipster Ed Hardy Watches To Its Lineup

ShopNBC, which wants to be home shopping’s premier destination for watches, on Monday will be selling timepieces from the hipster/edgy Ed Hardy.

The selection of watches from the clothing-design line will be on at 2 a.m. Monday morning. We especially liked a “Heart Krush” Quartz women’s watch, with its heart-shaped face, at $150.

There is also a fun men’s “Gladiator” watch, with the Ed Hardy signature graphic art on its face, for $116.

ShopNBC also has a stock of upscale watches it’s selling, including Gucci, Tag Heuer and Movado.

Talk about high end. ShopNBC, which sees itself as the place for premium watches, is now selling a wide selection of Gucci watches.

The No. 3 home shopping channel has about 50 men’s and women’s Gucci watches on its Web site, as well as several Gucci perfumes.

The watches range in price from $460, for one with a rubber strap, to $1,330, for a stainless steel number with diamonds and a mother of pearl face.

Our favorite is the twill fabric bracelet watch, which has the trademark Gucci logo all over it. That watch is $540. Just in case you’re looking for a Christmas gift for us.

During ShopNBC’s third-quarter call last week, CEO Keith Stewart said that the network has positioned itself as “the definitive destination for watches,” with watch sales up 66 percent in the quarter.
