QVC ‘Super Saturday’ Ovarian Cancer Benefit Coming

June 9, 2016

QVC is revving up for its Left Coast event this Saturday, its “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” from lovely Santa Monica in Cali.

The home shopping network will broadcast live from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET its annual designer charity sale to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA), the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while helping women and their families.

During the two-hour event, premier fashion, beauty and jewelry will be offered for half the the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, with 80 percent of the purchase price of donated merchandise benefiting OCRFA.

This year designer deals from brands such as Philosophy, H by Halston, Josie Maran, Isaac Mizrahi Live!, C. Wonder and Dooney & Bourke will be featured.

“We are proud to join forces with OCRFA for the 10th consecutive year. Super Saturday has provided us with a platform to increase awareness of this horrible disease,” Rachel Ungaro, QVC’s vice president of fashion and beauty merchandising, said in a canned statement.

“QVC is committed to supporting the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships and together with OCRFA we are able to support this mission and raise valuable funds for research and patient support programs.”

The event is being held at the Barker Hangar, with fat-mouthed actress and “RHOBH” pot-stirrer Lisa Rinna live on the red carpet interviewing celebrity attendees.

“On-site, QVC will be transforming its space into a virtual reality experience and lounge area that ties into this year’s location and will be providing visitors with a simulated flight experience complete with two vintage mini cockpits,” QVC said in its press release. “Viewers will also be able to catch a glimpse of the activation throughout the broadcast.”

QVC will be live streaming the event on Facebook as part of the #KeepinItTeal social media campaign, videos of celebrities and QVC designers will be featured to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

Viewers will also be encouraged to share the videos on their social media platforms and explain why and for whom they are #KeepinItTeal.

To help raise awareness for this year’s broadcast, E!’s Fashion Police style-savvy friends Brad Goreski and Melissa Rivers appeared in both the print and television public service announcements to help expose the cause across the country.

“Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest diseases women face and more needs to be done to raise awareness and funds,” said Audra Moran, OCRFA’s president and CEO. “QVC’s Super Saturday broadcast has been a tremendous help in spreading OCRFA’s message into millions of homes across the U.S.”

“QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” has generated more than $10.3 million since 2007. Often going undiagnosed in the early stages due to lack of an early detection test, ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth-leading cause of cancer death among American women.

QVC Returns To The Hamptons For Ovarian Cancer

July 22, 2015

QVC and the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) are uniting once again for “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE,” an annual designer charity sale scheduled to be broadcast live from the Hamptons on this Saturday.

Ex-QVC host Lisa Robertson used to be all over this event, we wonder who QVC will have at this shindig now.

During the two-hour broadcast, fashions, beauty, jewelry and more will be offered for half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, with 80 percent of the purchase price of donated merchandise benefiting the OCRF. Proceeds will also benefit Woman to Woman, OCRF’s nationwide patient program designed to support women undergoing treatment for gynecologic cancers.

“Ovarian cancer is often difficult to detect due to its subtle symptoms,” said Doug Rose, QVC’s senior vice president of brand and communications. “‘QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE’ represents QVC’s commitment to raising both the awareness necessary for early detection and the funds needed to help conquer this deadly disease.”

Now in its ninth year, “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” has generated more than $8.9 million to benefit the fund.

The live broadcast from OCRF’s Super Saturday NY will feature an assortment of brands such as Alex and Ani Charity by Design, Dooney & Bourke, Henri Bendel, Judith Ripka, Philosophy and many more.

“OCRF is proud to join forces with QVC once again to garner support and raise awareness of ovarian cancer,” said Audra Moran, the fund’s president and CEO. “Each year, the proceeds generated from QVC’s Super Saturday broadcast not only benefit women currently undergoing treatment for this horrible illness, but also bring us one step closer to eradicating the disease once and for all.”

QVC will launch #KeepinItTeal, a social media campaign featuring videos of celebrities and the faces behind some of QVC’s favorite brands, designed to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer. Viewers will be encouraged to share the videos on social media platforms and explain why and for whom they are #KeepinItTeal.

QVC ‘Super Saturday Live’ From Hamptons, With Ripa, Comes Saturday

July 24, 2013

QVC and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) are uniting once again for “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE,” which will broadcast live from the Hamptons on Saturday. We won’t be there. Jersey girls go “down the shore,” and that ain’t in Long Island.

Anyway, QVC’s designer charity sale will be selling fashion, beauty, jewelry, accessories and home items for half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price with net proceeds benefiting OCRF’s research grants and its patient support program, Woman to Woman.

This year’s broadcast will feature brands such as Philosophy, Mally Beauty, Jai by John Hardy, Laura Geller, Amrita Singh, Honora and more. “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” will be doing celeb interviews from the red carpet.

“QVC’s role in Super Saturday LIVE exemplifies our ongoing commitment to support the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships,” QVC U.S. CEO Claire Watts said in a canned statement. “This year’s broadcast incorporates some very exciting premier brands, which we hope will help to increase awareness of OCRF even more.”

QVC will once launch a dedicated Pinterest campaign, “Pin it Forward,” designed to generate awareness and funds for OCRF’s cause. The home shopping network has created a Super Saturday board. Followers are encouraged to pin with a purpose now through the event. For every pin, QVC will donate $1 to OCRF, up to $10,000.

Jersey girl Kelly Ripa (traitor, for going to the Hamptons), will once again lend her support as the host of the event, while QVC’s Lisa Robertson will take viewers inside the event.

“QVC’s efforts have played a major role in accomplishing OCRF’s overall mission of advancing the field of ovarian cancer research and creating awareness of this often difficult to detect disease,” OCRF CEO Audra Moran said. “With QVC’s help, our message extends beyond the Hamptons community and into millions of U.S. homes.”

QVC Diva Lisa Robertson, Kelly Ripa Team On Cancer PSAs

June 27, 2013

How’s this for hype, part of a press release issued by QVC Wednesday:

WEST CHESTER, Pa. (June 26, 2013) – Talk about a show stopper! Two of the hottest hosts in live television – Kelly Ripa and Lisa Robertson – appear in both print and television public service announcements promoting “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” on QVC Saturday, July 27 at 2 PM (ET), with net proceeds benefiting Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).

We don’t know if we’d call them TV’s hottest hosts but Ripa, co-star of “LIVE with Kelly and Michael,” will once again serve as host for the fund’s “celebrity garage sale” in the Hamptons. Robertson will tag along to take viewers inside the event during the “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” broadcast.

QVC began broadcasting from the Saturday sale in 2006, offering its viewers fashion, beauty, jewelry, accessories and home items for half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, with net proceeds benefiting OCRF.

“It has been a pleasure to host this exciting show since the beginning and watch it rapidly grow into one of our highest viewed programming events,” Robertson said in a canned quote. “For me, personally, it has been amazing to be a part of such an important cause. If even one woman benefits from our broadcast then I feel that we have made an impact in helping to build awareness for this difficult- to-diagnose disease.”

Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women.

QVC’s PSA campaign was designed to bring more awareness of this often “masked” disease.

“QVC continues to be one of our greatest supporters and we are so thankful to Kelly and Lisa for continuing the fight this year to help bring attention to the importance of research for Ovarian Cancer,” said Audra Moran, the CEO of OCRF. “We look forward to QVC’s involvement again this year and, of course, the amazing awareness that their broadcast brings to the event.”
