‘American Idol’ Randy Jackson Back On HSN With Guitars

December 15, 2013

Grammy-winning producer Randy Jackson is back on HSN Sunday with what is his third line of guitars. We guess he’s dueling with his “American Idol” compadre Keith Urban, who recently hawked guitars on the home shopping network.

Jackson’s True Faith Guitar Collection will be the Today’s Special. It comes in the wake of the debut of his “Diamond Edition” last December and “American Tribute” Collection, which launched earlier this year. Sunday’s 20-piece package is under $300 with free shipping.

This new collection features both an all-wood solid body electric and an acoustic-electric guitar, each offered in five colors — Black Onyx, Silver Hematite, Ruby Red, Purple Amethyst and Chocolate Diamond. The instruments also have a Maltese cross insignia on their backs, a faux crackled mother-of-pearl pick guard and rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl inlay.

Each guitar also has the phrase “Courage, Loyalty, Believe” on its back.

“I’m proud of the True Faith Guitar package,” Jackson said in a canned quote. “This guitar will become your best friend and is the perfect way to share the gift of music with someone especially during this holiday season.”

Jackson began playing guitar when he was 13.

“Jackson continues to play a key role with the blockbuster TV show ‘American Idol,’ mentoring the talents of aspiring singers alongside Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban,” HSN said in its press release. “Following an impressive career in the music industry, Randy has since built an impressive personal collection of guitars and believes music is the universal language that brings people together.”

Yadda, yadda.

And Mangano chimed in, of course.

“Working with a fashion icon like Iman to bring this collection to life has been an amazing experience,” said Mangano, president and founder of Ingenious Designs LLC, an HSN unit.

“She is the epitome of glamor and luxury, and her esthetic radiates throughout the entire line. I’m very proud of this new collection and can’t wait to introduce it to my HSN fans this weekend!”

The Joy & Iman collection is priced under $40, and includes the Luxe Quilted Wallet for $19.95; a set of 4 Glam Sun Readers with slip cases for $19.95; a Scarf Wrap with Lace for $19.95; and a Luxe Quilted Sandal for $29.95.

Additionally, a Joy & IMAN Iconic Quilted “Fashionably Functional” Bag will be sold for one-day-only Sunday at $39.95.

Iman is a veteran HSN vendor, and actually, her line is part of IDL, which Mangano founded in 1991. IDL has developed and managed product lines for not only IMAN but for chef and restaurateur Todd English and “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson.

‘American Idol’ Judge Randy Jackson Returns To HSN To Rock Guitars

December 5, 2012

“American Idol” judge and Grammy Award-winning producer Randy “Dog” Jackson has already been on HSN this year pitching a line of watches. The home shopping network said Tuesday that he will be back this month selling guitars.

The big debut of the “Randy Jackson Diamond Edition Guitar Collection” is Dec. 16. The package supposedly combines numbered, limited edition high-quality guitars with one-on-one lessons.

“Get everything you need to learn to play, and feel like a rock star with his exclusive designer style,” or so the HSN press release said.

“I’ve created my premier Diamond Edition collection to give HSN customers the opportunity to embrace music the way I did as a child,” Jackson said in a canned statement, “I designed these exclusive guitar packages so everyone can learn, play and feel like rock stars!”

Jackson is a 20-year music industry veteran who has produced and performed with some of the world’s hottest artists.

“Passionate about guitars since picking up his first one at the age of 13, Randy has since built an impressive personal collection of guitars and believes music is the universal language that brings people together,” HSN said.

And according to Jackson, “HSN is the perfect place to launch my limited edition guitars. HSN’s connection to the entertainment industry and their passion for storytelling makes it the right platform for me to share my inspiration behind this new launch.”

Jeez, stop buttering up HSN management, Randy.

HSN’s chief merchandising officer, Anne Martin-Vachon, also chimed in.

“We are excited that Randy is returning to HSN with this limited edition, numbered guitar collection,” she said in her canned statement. “Randy is a passionate musician and icon in the music industry. This collection will give the HSN customer a chance to learn from the best and play like a star.”

The Diamond Edition guitar package includes the choice of either a solid body electric or an acoustic electric guitar that includes an instructional DVD featuring Jackson and guitar expert Scott Goldbaum, a 15W Amp, custom case, guitar strap, chord chart poster, polishing cloth, designer picks, certificate of authenticity and more, all for under $300.

And even Joy Mangano got into the act here.

“It was an extreme honor to work with Randy on this collection,” said Mangano, president of Ingenious Designs and HSN executive vice president. “Randy has detail for detail created what I consider to be one of the finest guitar collections. I’m so excited for everyone to be able to play such quality guitars.”

And Jackson is also returning to HSN with his Timepieces by Randy Jackson watch collection, with new styles for the holiday season. The custom designed watches range in price from $95 to $395, with limited edition pieces up to $3,500.

The Randy Jackson Guitar Collection launches on HSN on Sunday, December 16, as a TS. Jackson will continues his visit Dec. 17 at 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. with new additions to the Timepieces by Randy Jackson collection.

HSN’s Become A Haven For ‘American Idol’ Judges, Latest Mariah Carey

July 29, 2012

Congrats to songbird Mariah Carey on her new gig as a judge on “American Idol.”

Well, now three “American Idol” judges have been HSN vendors.

Jennifer Lopez was on the No. 2 home shopping network selling perfume.

Randy Jackson was on last week selling watches.

And Carey has been on several times selling jewelry and shoes, with one of her rather idiosyncratic appearances going viral.

‘American Idol’ Judge Randy Jackson ‘Watchaholic’ Joins Jennifer Lopez As Part Of HSN Family

July 21, 2012

As we speak, “American Idol” and “dawg” Randy Jackson is in the house at HSN, hawking his watches.

Jackson appears to be enjoying himself with HSN host Colleen Lopez, and his watches are pretty good looking. We especially liked his skeleton watch, which was clear in the front and back, revealing the timepiece’s inner workings. There was also watch whose numerals looked like stylized piano keys.

Randy Jackson

Jackson is a self-admitted “watchaholic,” and we love watching someone who is passionate about what they’re talking about. He told Lopez that he started collecting watches when he was 12, and that he had 500 to 600 now.

Jackson just said that he was on “The View” this morning, and all the hosts were wearing his watches.

Several people have called in saying this is the first time they have purchased any items from HSN.

Lopez pointed out that she had talked to Jackson before, when he called in during the HSN appearances of fellow “Idol” host Jennifer Lopez and songstress Mariah Carey.

We were also touched when Jackson spoke a watch with an argyle pattern on its face. He said that his mom, who has passed away, often wore an argyle sweater. That watch was pretty cool looking.

Jackson’s sister Sue also called in, and said she had purchased one of his HSN watches. She complimented him on the argyle watch dedicated to their mother.

“I love it: HSN rocks,” Jackson said at one point.

“You’ve definitely upped the cool factor here,” Lopez said.

Yes indeed.

Heads up, Facebook fools (we are among them): July will also feature “HSN All Access,” virtual birthday parties on HSN’s Facebook page, giving fans an inside look at the lives of Jackson and Iman as well as HSN hosts Colleen Lopez, Amy Morrison, and many other HSN favorites.

HSN Mobile users will also have insider access to Nate Berkus and Roy as they participate in special mobile-only “Livechat” sessions where they will answer questions and share their thoughts and inspirations behind their HSN lines.

HSN is also teaming with Norwegian Cruise Line to offer the “Cruise a Day Giveaway,” where HSN customers will have the opportunity to win a cruise each day in the month of July. Customers can enter several times a day by visiting the HSN Arcade, a place to shop, watch and play casual online games.

All month long, customers can play to win a cruise for two plus airfare to a variety of exotic destinations including Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, Bermuda, Bahamas, and the Caribbean. Winners will be announced each evening on HSN at 8 p.m.
