Brooke Shields’ Mom And Her QVC, HSN Cubic Zirconia

Catching up on my blogging here, after a busy week.

First of all, actress/model/New Jersey native Brooke Shields new memoir, “There Was A Little Girl,” has just been released. She spends a good part of it, apparently, talking about her alcoholic mother-manager, the late Teri Shields, who developed dementia and died.

According to Shields, when she went through her mom’s things she discovered a treasure trove of jewelry the woman had ordered from QVC and HSN.

“I have never seen so many cubic zirconia items,” Shields said.

This is her second book. Her first, “Down Came the Rain,” was about postpartum depression, and caused Tom Cruise to have a hissy fit, blasting Shields. He’s not a believer in medications. Our guess is that he has never lived through the agony of clinical depression.

We had a male friend whose friend had dated Shields. That guy says that Shields was the only woman he had ever dated who looked beautiful, without a stitch of makeup, when she woke up in the morning.

Next, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of “Jersey Shore” fame debuted her limited edition wedding fragrance, “Snooki Love,” last week on HSN. Polizzi will soon be wed at the gorgeous Venetian in Garfield. N.J., where our BFF Ann attended a wedding last week.

Next, HSN CEO Mindy Grossman was prominently featured in a Wall Street Journal story with the headline “Female CEOs Make Room for Female Directors.”

And maybe this is old news, but we didn’t know that high-end designer Tory Burch, whose clothes and purses we can’t afford (even discounted at TJ Maxx) is Ellen DeGeneres’s partner on E.D., a line of merchandise that recently premiered on QVC.

The New York Times discussed the line, which kicked off with holiday housewares, Sunday in a story headlined “The Goop Effect,” a feature on Gwyneth Paltrow’s much-maligned lifestyle website.

The Goop story had a photo and interviews with Paltrow and Lisa Gersh, Goop’s new CEO. We know Gersh from our years covering the cable TV industry, as she was a co-founder of Oxygen, the women’s network.

Tyra Banks Comes To HSN For The Holidays, Snooki Back

HSN unveiled its holiday-season programming lineup Wednesday, and the debuts will include a makeup line by ex-model/TV personality Tyra Banks — as well as a Rolling Stones-themed fashion collection and “Happy” the HSN holiday bear.

On Nov. 7 from 10 p.m. to midnight, Banks, will launch her new TYRA beauty makeup collection during “Tyra’s Makeup Fierce Up,” a two-hour primetime special.

There will also be another debut, that of TV chef and host of his own cooking show, Robert Irvine. He will launch his line of culinary tools and accessories during the “HSN Cooks” event Nov. 2.

And in a new idea, HSN will celebrate more than 50 years of The Rolling Stones Nov. 13 with a first-ever fashion collection featuring Mick Jagger and Keith Richards’ legendary lyrics, designed by Diane Gilman, R.J.Graziano, Carlos Falchi and Lyric Culture.

And there will be several memorable returning vendors at HSN. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of “Jersey Shore” fame will be back at the home shopping network. Snooki, by the way, will soon be getting married and having her wedding reception at The Venetian in Garfield, N.J. — the same venue where our friend Patty’s nephew had his post-nuptial shindig.

And one of our favs, four-time Grammy Award-winner and Nicole Kidman hubby Keith Urban, will celebrate his first anniversary with HSN with the launch of his limited edition “Star Fire” 22-Piece Guitar Package Nov. 15.

In a new gimmick, HSN will be hosting special Black Fridays on Nov. 7, 14 and 21.

They will be:

* Nov. 7 – A “Bundles at their Best” themed day offers shoppers the opportunity to buy featured bundled items, BOGOs, and Bonus Buys.

* Nov. 14 – With themes like “Basics with a Flair” and “What’s Old is New Again,” shoppers can take a trip down memory lane with nostalgic throwback pieces and gift ideas from home, electronics and more.

* Nov. 21 – Shoppers get full access to a day of “Stocking Stuffers” with gifts under $100, $50 and $25. And 10,000 customers will receive a complimentary holiday stocking when purchasing special stocking stuffer qualifying items throughout the day.

On Thanksgiving Day, “Happy” the HSN Holiday Bear will make its debut, with HSN donating 1,000 bears to charity for the first 1,000 bears sold.

Later that night through Black Friday, HSN will offer “doorbuster” bargains ranging from name brand electronics to handbags and jewelry.

‘Jersey Shore’ Meatball Snooki Bringing Her ‘Fragrance,’ and Her ‘Kooka,’ To HSN

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: Truth is stranger than fiction. Or maybe it should be Snooki is stranger than fiction.

On Tuesday HSN put out a press release saying that it was bringing “the Jersey Shore to Your Door,” with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi set to deliver her “Must Have” holiday gifts.

Does that include panties, because she sure needs a couple of pairs of those.And pray tell, what will her “fragrance” smell like?

HSN will have the world launch of Snooki’s signature fragrance during a one-time-only, two-hour primetime event on Nov. 10 at 8 p.m.

This “fun-filled Holiday Event also Includes Snooki Handbags, Slippers, Sunglasses and ‘Crocodilly.'” Are those the sunglasses with the chains hanging down? We like them!

First of all, do you really think that Snooki said that she can’t wait to appear on HSN?

Second of all, will she actually wear underwear so she doesn’t do the Sharon Stone-move from “Basic Instinct” to HSN’s viewers, flashing her “kooka.”
