Melania Trump’s Bio Trimmed To Cut QVC Reference

January 24, 2017

Oy, can you believe QVC was part of a recent Trump brouhaha? It all had to do with First Lady Melania Trump’s bio on WhiteHouse.gov.

We previously blogged that Mrs. Trump had done a fashion jewelry and watch collection for the home shopping network, but that was a number of years ago.

The initial version of her online bio mentioned her QVC line, according to CNN.com. That raised some eyebrows.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/20/politics/melania-trump-white-house-biography/index.html

So the bio was later edited “out of an abundance of caution” that the reference to Melania’s QVC wares could be interpreted as an endorsement, a Trump mouthpiece told CNN.

The bio had said that “in April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection, ‘Melania Timepieces & Jewelry’ on QVC.”

QVC doesn’t sell items from the collection any more.

Did Evine’s Nancy O’Dell Escape Trump?

October 8, 2016

For the second time, we’ve managed to find an example where the presidential election, the home shopping world and Donald Trump have all intersected. Hey, we didn’t go to the Medill School at Northwestern for nuthin’, folks.

A video of Trump making controversial comments about the opposite sex, and his unsuccessful attempt to boink a married woman, several years ago has gone virai and made national headlines.

As it turns out, the faithful wife that Trump failed to seduce was “Entertainment Tonight” host Nancy O’Dell, according to the New York Post’s Page Six. We don’t know if she has made any comment on this or not.

http://pagesix.com/2016/10/07/this-is-the-married-woman-trump-tried-to-f-k/

O’Dell, a gorgeous blonde who was apparently smart enough and moral enough to fend off Trump’s advances, just happens to be a vendor who sells an apparel line on Evine.

A few weeks ago, we noted that Trump’s latest wife Melania used to do a fashion jewelry and watch collection for QVC. But the No. 1 home shopping channel hasn’t been selling that line for quite some time.

Melania Trump’s Jewelry Gone From QVC

August 2, 2016

You won’t find any items from potential First Lady Melania Trump on QVC.com anymore.

We can’t take credit for noticing it. Roger Friedman of Showbiz 411 did a story on it.

Melania, who had a lot of exposure this week when the New York Post two days in a row ran nude photos of her, had done a costume jewelry line that QVC sold.

Apparently, some of the items were also on sale at online outlets such as Amazon.com. But that’s all over now.

If you search “Melania Trump” on QVC.com, you are redirected to Elizabeth Taylor baubles.

Melania Trump: QVC Vendor And Potential First Lady

July 21, 2016

Who’d have thunk that a QVC jewelry vendor could one day end up possibly becoming First Lady? Hello, Melania Trump!

We won’t rehash her RNC speech, the lovely white dress she wore or the flap over the plagiarism issue.

We best remember seeing Melania on QVC selling her jewelry, and we thought she came off as very sweet, smart and gorgeous — the way she did during her speech.

The New York Times ran a profile of her this week, and it talks about Melania’s family and youth in Slovenia.

The article also describes how in school Melania particularly loved art class.

“The future creator of the QVC collection ‘Melania Trump Timepieces & Jewelry’ made bracelets there (art class),” The Times wrote.

That’s a nice little plug for the No. 1 home shopping network.

QVC Host Lisa Robertson Looks Pretty Damn Good In Person

September 8, 2011

We’re standing in the Suspenders Building in Soho at QVC’s Fashion’s Night Out Event. Our dogs are starting to bark, our Spanx have cut off our circulation and our hair is frizzy. But who cares?

We’re blogging on one of the laptops that QVC has set up. Sweet.

It’s a typical Manhattan event, with loud music and a lot of people dressed in black, us included. It’s crowded and noisy. The party started at 5 p.m., and QVC doesn’t start broadcasting live from here until 9 p.m. And we haven’t had one drop of liquor! Yet.

Lisa and The Homeshoppingista

The highlight so far has been seeing QVC host Lisa Robertson in the flesh. She’s wearing a simple cobalt blue dress with a black belt, and we love her hair tonight. She is slender and pretty. She was posing for photos upstairs, and of course we had to horn our way in.

Robertson got on our good side immediately when she complimented us on our diamond stick cross.

We quickly introduced ourselves as The Homeshoppingista, but we really have no idea if she knew who are. Then QVC took a shot of us with Robertson, and we will downdoad and post it later. That is, we’ll post it unless we look like a big whale next to her, despite our Spanx.

Being here is certainly a great incentive for us to lay off the Pizza Hut bread sticks. We guess it’s a good thing that we can’t find any food here.

There was a blonde female reporter here from the entertainment magazine show “Extra,” and we’ve been following her around. That’s because we can’t believe how thin she is.

When we came in, we caught a quick glimpse of QVC host Jane Treacy, and then we headed upstairs. QVC has a red carpet area outside, but we didn’t see anyone of note on it. Upstairs, we met QVC top honcho Mike George and briefly chatted with him. We hope our tape recorder was working.

QVC upstairs set up stations with the various makeup lines that it sells, such as Laura Geller, who has tomorrow’s TSV, and Bare Escentuals. In fact, we saw Leslie Blodgett posing for photos with party attendees. We had Bare Escentuals touch up our shiny face, and the Laura Geller rep used one of the blushes from the TSV on us.

We were dying to have the reps from T3 flatiron our hair straight, but it’s so humid that we now it would go curly as soon as we walked out the door. So why bother?

For a QVC shopper like us, this is a dream. Downstairs there are stations with samples of new products from vendors such as Joan Rivers, Heidi Klum, Michael Dawkins, Judith Ripka, Melania Trump, Rachel Zoe, Robert Lee Morris and Marc Bouwer.

There are samples of two huge, gorgeous bib necklaces on display from Joan Rivers. One has huge faux diamonds, and the other has bling and orange and black enamel flowers. Stunning.

We got a gander at Klum’s new jewelry line, but we have to say that we’re not feeling it. Sorry Heidi.

We May Be Ignorant, A Lowlife And Disgusting, But Keep Our Mom Out Of It

August 1, 2011

We guess Steff didn’t like our posts about Martha Stewart and Melania Trump. Her comments are below.

Comment:
Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot

what is wrong with you?

Jailbird Martha Stewart

you are disgusting

is this how your readership grows? by these types of headlines?

have you no shame? arent bygones, bygones?

at first it was the chef and some disparaging remark about him, Gordon Ramsey

then,

it was Jane Fonda

then, now

its Martha Stewart

geezus woman, you are a lowlife….

your coverage belongs in the Slam magazine…..the one that never lets people
forget

now, i will say Martha Stewart didnt start out to be one my favs, but i liked
the way she conducted herself. She, ALONG, with Jane Fonda (although in a
different way) are exemplary women who have shown leadership, compassion,
ambition and energy

i daresay, with the way you throw around labels, you lack all of the above

you’re ignorant and it shows

Here is the Melania comment:

here you go again

talking about Melania

and you digress to some disparaging remark about Donald Trump

again, stick to the facts, stick to enlightening your audience and if you can, stick to honorable comments……

remember what your mama told you…..or maybe she didnt or maybe she did and you forgot

“if you cant say something nice, then say nothing at all”

your comment about Donald Trump had nothing to do with your headlines

surely, your journalism instructor told you about writing headlines and sticking to the story

but i suspect you have no training

you are ignorant and it shows

Melania Trump, QVC Costume Jewelry Purveyor, Likes Donald’s Hair

August 1, 2011

The New York Daily News ran a feature Thursday, headlined “Glitter Gal,” on Melania Trump and her QVC fashion jewelry line. Donald Trump’s missus was on the home shopping network with her baubles yesterday.

According to the story, Trump’s collection is a top-selling line for QVC.

Melania, who is a gorgeous ex-model, is known for being rather quiet. In the interview, she denies being shy. “I just know when it’s time to talk and when it’s not time to talk,” she told The News.

That makes her a very teeny minority within the human race.

She also defends Donald’s famous comb-over hairdo, which also makes her a very teeny minority within the human race. But we digress.

Melania’s said her “fans” often admired her jewelry, and she wanted to take it and make it available to all women, “because not everybody can buy pieces that cost thousands and thousands of dollars,” she told The News. Right you are, Melania.

The pieces she’s had replicated for QVC include her engagement ring and a Harry Winston diamond cuff that Donald gave her after she gave birth to their son Barron.

The items in Melania Timepieces and Jewelry cost $200 and less.

QVC Horns In On The Oscar’s Red-Carpet Glitz In LA Another Year

February 23, 2011

QVC will be back in Cali this weekend for the second year in a row to ride the red-carpet coattails of the Oscars.

Claiming that it got “impressive viewership” with its first such broadcast, “Buzz on the Red Carpet – Live from LA” will, or so the press release says, QVC “once again take viewers behind-the-scenes with exclusive content from top fashion designers, beauty newsmakers, celebrities and more.”

There will be two live broadcasts, this Friday at 9 p.m. (ET) and Saturday at 8 p.m. (ET).

During the shindig at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills, “Gossip Girl” actress Kelly Rutherford will finally debut her luxury handbag line during the Saturday broadcast.

“Much like New York during Fashion Week, there is no place like Los Angeles during awards season,” QVC U.S. CEO Claire Watts said in a canned statement. “’The Buzz’ on the Red Carpet broadcast aims to offer engaging programming that takes our viewers where they want to go. With our lineup of personalities and industry experts, we feel confident that this season will be full of excitement for our customers.”

Fashion designers including Isaac Mizrahi, Dennis Basso and Marc Bouwer are scheduled to appear during the broadcasts along with Lori Goldstein, the Kardashians and Melania Trump.

Actor Matthew McConaughy’s girlfriend (and mother of his child) Camila Alves and costume designer Janie Bryant, of “Mad Men,” will also present their latest collections. They will join some of the best in the beauty business including Kate Somerville, Josie Maran, Laura Geller, Smashbox and Tarte, among others, will be on hand.

QVC.com will host a special online preview of the event now through Friday.

Heads Up TriState QVC Shoppers: The Network Will Be ‘Popping Up’ In Rock Center During Fashion Week

September 7, 2010

The Kardashians' K-Dash collection will debut on QVC during Fashion Week

As we’ve previously reported, QVC is really expanding its participation and presence at New York Fashion Week. The home shopping channel put out a press release on the event Tuesday, and it is kicking off the week by debuting its Manhattan pop-up location — as well as launching a clothing line by the Kardashians.

We wrote about the pop-up store and K-Dash, too, when QVC CEO Mike George mentioned them during a second-quarter conference call. The pop-up location will be in Rockefeller Center, and it will serve as a consumer store and a fully functioning broadcast studio.

QVC’s growing role in Fashion Week reflects its growing clout in the fashion industry, as it attracts high-profile designers who have been struggling in a market where most consumers are keeping their wallets shut.

The QVC pop-up store will open its doors to the public this Friday at 6 p.m. to mark the second annual Fashion’s Night Out, or FNO, event. QVC celebrates FNO as the exclusive multimedia retailer.

QVC claims it will have one of its largest broadcast and multimedia events live from the Big Apple pop-up location with special programming throughout the city.

The three-hour broadcast – Fashion Night’s Out SM – Live from New York is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and feature the debuts of K-DASH by Kardashian and “Mad Men” costumer designer Janie Bryant’s MOD collection. In addition, some of QVC’s popular designers, including Marc Bouwer, Bradley Bayou, Pamela Dennis, Lori Goldstein, Mara Hoffman, Melania Trump and Isaac Mizrahi, will unveil their latest collections for the fall season.

As part of FNO, QVC is once again lending its support to the Council of Fashion Designers of America in its fight against breast cancer. QVC will offer the Vogue-designed Fashion’s Night Out CFDA T-shirts on-air, on QVC.com and at its pop-up location in New York City.

On Friday Vogue’s senior market editor Meredith Melling Burke is scheduled to appear on QVC to talk about the Vogue-designed T-shirt. Net proceeds from the sale of this T-shirt, sold exclusively through QVC, will benefit “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer,” the charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating Fashion’s Night Out,” QVC president of U.S. Commerce Claire Watts said in a canned statement. “The expansion of our presence in New York to include the pop-up location as well as offer access to such an impressive event is something we expect our viewers will respond to with equal excitement.”

The pop-up store is also scheduled to be open to the public Sept. 11 to 15. The store will showcase a selection of QVC’s most exciting brands. Products ranging from fashion, beauty and jewelry to home and electronics are scheduled to be featured. Additionally, the store will serve as a location for personal appearances by QVC personalities and brands.

In addition to the unveiling of its pop-up location, QVC will be returning to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to present Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – Live from New York, scheduled for Saturday at 10 p.m. and next Wednesday at 10 p.m.

During the shows, which will be broadcast live from the NYC pop-up location, QVC is scheduled to debut Anonymity by Julie Chaiken as well as showcase new designs from editorial stylist Lori Goldstein and some of its premier designers, including Dennis Basso, Isaac Mizrahi, Bradley Bayou, Marc Bouwer and Janie Bryant. Iconic Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe is also scheduled to return to unveil her latest collection.

“Our collaboration with IMG Fashion has proven to be more rewarding each year, affording us the opportunity to take our viewers inside Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week,” Watts adds. “We are confident that presenting a variety of esteemed brands during such a widely supported event reinforces QVC’s place in the fashion industry.”

Following the kickoff on Friday, the QVC pop-up store is scheduled to be open to the public Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.; Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and next Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Donald’s Better Half Melania Trump Debuts Her QVC Jewelry Line Friday

April 27, 2010

Melania Trump

It was Melania Trump’s birthday Monday, and it is our’s Wednesday. Good times and fresh starts for Taurus, the bull. Is anyone tired about hearing about our birthday yet? Too bad.

Anyway, QVC Tuesday put out the official announcement about Donald Trump’s wife coming to QVC this Friday at 9 p.m.

The Slovenian beauty, as QVC describes her, is debuting her Timepieces & Fashion Jewelry line on the home shopping network.

“I am thrilled to work with QVC to bring my personal inspiration and design aesthetic to life,” the model said in a canned statement. “I’m proud to debut my collection of premium, affordable timepieces and jewelry and make it available to millions of women across the country. Now women everywhere can add a touch of luxury to their everyday lifestyle!”

Here’s QVC’s bio of Melania.

“Born in Slovenia, Melania Knauss began her modeling career at the age of 16. The Slovenian-born brunette has appeared in high-profile ad campaigns, and has worked with some of the top photographers in the fashion industry, including Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Arthur Elgort, Ellen Von Unwerth, Peter Arnell, Antoine Verglas and Mario Testino.

At 5 feet 11 inches, Melania has a captivating presence in front of the camera. She has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, British GQ, Ocean Drive, Avenue, In Style, New York Magazine. Melania’s style has been noted to be one of natural elegance. In the words of Manolo Blahnik, “She is a true beauty. She has it.”

Melania’s philanthropic interests more and more represent her humanitarian side, and she remains an indefatigable and dedicated New Yorker. She was Honorary Chairwoman for Martha Graham Dance Company in April 2005, is an active member of the Police Athletic League, which honored her with Woman of The Year 2006, has been an Honorary Chairwoman for The Boy’s Club of New York for five consecutive years, and in 2005 The American Red Cross awarded her with Goodwill Ambassador, which she has proudly served for four years.

In April of 2008, she was asked by Love Our Children USA and NASDAQ to participate in the Fifth Annual National Love Our Children Day and the beginning of National Child Abuse Prevention month by ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ. In February 2010, she was the chairwoman of the American Heart Association’s Annual Heart Ball, which raised $1.7 million for heart disease research.

Melania married Donald Trump in January 2005. In March of 2006 they had their first child, Barron William Trump.

QVC is apparently thrilled to have her. But then, who wouldn’t want a charming Taurus in their camp?

“We are excited to bring Melania’s exquisite collection to QVC,” Debra Puzio, QVC’s director of merchandising, said in her canned statement. “Each piece is as stylish and stunning as Melania and I believe that her personality and aesthetic will truly resonate with our customers.”
