JTV Commemorates Marilyn Monroe’s 87th Birthday Saturday

May 31, 2013

Jewelry Television will pay homage to Marilyn Monroe Saturday, which would have been the Gemini bombshell’s 87th birthday.

JTV will be featuring its exclusive Marilyn Monroe Jewelry collection, which is inspired by Norma Jean.

“This jewelry embodies the essence of Marilyn’s personality,” JTV vice president of marketing Jill Johnson said in a canned statement Thursday. Many of the pieces are reproductions of jewelry she actually wore, while others are representative of her glamorous life.”

The line features more than 250 pieces of fashion jewelry ranging from $19.99 to $329.99. Each piece is covered in 14 karat yellow gold or rhodium and set with crystals and gems.

The collection features crystal dangle earrings that are replicas of the ones Marilyn wore when she famously sang “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden.

In addition, this collection features replica emerald earrings, which were a gift from Frank Sinatra, and casual gold hoops that were inspired by some she often wore.

“Marilyn Monroe is known for a beauty and style that translates seamlessly across generations,” Johnson said. “It is only fitting she has an official collection of jewelry to represent her well.”

Monroe was born on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles.

Her name was Norma Jean Mortensen before she changed it to Marilyn Monroe. She died on Aug. 5, 1962, at age 36.

JTV Is Bringing Its New Marilyn Monroe Jewelry Collection North

September 12, 2012

Jewelry Television is traveling north of the Mason Dixon line, coming to the Big Apple next Tuesday to give the press a champagne-filled preview of its new Marilyn Monroe Jewelry line.

It looks like a fancy shindig from the folks in Knoxville, Tenn. It’s being held in a loft/terrace in Manhattan.

What’s interesting to us is that in the invite (which wasn’t sent to us) editors, stylists, bloggers and media professionals are told they can borrow JTV jewelry for product placements, events or celebrity clients.

“Choose from our regular inventory of more than 30,000 items priced from $10 to $100,000.”

What $100,000 jewelry does JTV sell, we wonder?
