Evine Opens LA Studio, Welcomes Celine Dion and a ‘Shah’

October 20, 2018

Just a day after Qurate Retail, parent of QVC and HSN, announced it would be sending pink slips to 2,000 employees, and whittling down the staff in St. Petersburg to nothing, Evine was having a big shindig on the Left Coast.

We were invited, but couldn’t make the trip, to attend the West Hollywood launch party kicking off the opening of Evine Los Angeles, the network’s new studio facility. We also missed the “Live from LA” broadcast Thursday.

Did anyone see it? What did you think?

Apparently in conjunction with that event, Evine has unveiled two new celebrity lines — handbags from singer Celine Dion and “Be Obsessed” hair care products from Reza Farahan, who is part of the crew on Bravo’s “Shahs of Sunset.”

When we saw pictures that party-goers posted on Facebook, we didn’t recognize Reza. He looked familiar, but he lost his mustache and a lot of weight since we last watched that reality show.

We like a lot of what Evine is doing, and opening a studio — far away from the HQ in Minnesota — is brilliant. But from what we have seen, home shoppers are not enamored of celebrity product lines.

There are so many stars of Bravo reality shows that have done lines for HSN, QVC and Evine that the list would take up a page.

For example, one of Reza’s co-stars on “Shahs” had a fashion jewelry line on HSN, while Lisa Vanderpump of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has her own fashion jewelry line on Evine. She was at the swanky launch party, as were vendors such as Chuck Clemency.

Evine’s marketing maven, Nicole Ostoya, on FB said that she will be stationed in LA now, not in the cold wilds of Minneapolis, and she appeared to be quite pleased about that.

And while we are on the topic of Evine, we saw that another former HSN jewelry vendor had turned up at the No. 3 home shopping network. Hilary Joy is now part of the lineup.

Lisa Vanderpump To Party With ‘Women Of Evine Live” In Beverly Hills

October 4, 2015

To celebrate “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast member Lisa Vanderpump’s new home collection on Evine Live, the network will be hosting a “Women of Evine Live” reception at Lisa’s restaurant

The shindig will take place Sept. 29 at Vanderpump’s Beverly Hills restaurant Villa Blanca.

“Celebrating the impact and contributions that Evine Live’s many female entrepreneurs have made, the event will also serve as an opportunity for guests to get a sneak peek at Lisa Vanderpump’s home collection, launching exclusively on Evine Live Oct. 24 and 25,” the press release said.

We guess this will give Evine Live CEO Mark Bozek an excuse to visit the Left Coast.

“I’m thrilled to celebrate the women of Evine Live,” Bozek said in a canned statement. “We are fortunate to have a diverse group of women behind some of our most successful brands at Evine Live. Not only do we have women-backed brands that have been with us for many years, but also an exciting group who have joined the Evine Live family this past year as part of our expansion of proprietary brands.”

In addition to Vanderpump, Evine Live vendors Paula Deen, Heather Dubrow, Nancy O’ Dell, Michelle Williams and Nancy Davis will be in the house.

Vanderpump was one of the first jewelry collections to launch on EVINE Live during the net’s Valentine’s weekend event earlier this year.

Building on her estate fashion jewelry collection, the Pump will debut a new home line in late October. The collection features a number of items that “embody Lisa’s signature sense of style, including a luxurious faux fur throw,” according to Evine Live.

Another faux throw! Yikes, someone tell Dennis Basso.

Evine Live Fall Premieres Include Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild

August 4, 2015

Like the entertainment networks, Evine Live has a lot of premieres this fall.

The No. 3 home shopping network put out a press release Monday about what it has coming in the autumn, including a collection from Karen Fairchild of country music’s Little Big Town and the Nancy O’Dell Collection from “Entertainment Tonight” co-host Nancy O’Dell, as we previously reported.

“By effectively balancing new brands alongside our well performing emerging brands and our established brands, we are effectively executing upon our strategy to create a growing stable of high-margin, proprietary products that we expect will help deliver sustainable growth and profitability,” Evine Live CEO Mark Bozek said in a canned statement.

“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump will return to the network with not only fashion jewelry, but with her Estate Home Collection.

HGTV and DIY star and “Rehab Addict” Nicole Curtis will offer her newest line, Nicole Curtis Home, and the chef and host of “Bizarre Foods” on Travel Channel Andrew Zimmern will be on-board.

On the jewelry front, our addiction, Evine Live will have Perla Donna Italian jewelry, BB Becker silver jewelry, the Margo Manhattan silver collection and John Wind fashion baubles.

A number of recently launched brands will return in the fall, namely Beekman 1802, Consult Beaute, Todd English Collection, Paula Dean’s Kitchen, Indigo Thread Co., NV by Nick Verreos, Pamela McCoy Collection, Evine Live “Deadliest Catch” Collection, BoKU Superfoods, FrescoWare by Scotto and DEVINE Treats.

Does Ex-QVC Host Lisa Robertson Have A Boyfriend?

March 12, 2015

We’ve been out of action for a few months, while we were on the mend. That left us a lot of time to watch home shopping while the ol’ ankle healed.

Here are a few observations from along the way:

We always liked Chris Scanlon when she was an HSN host, and were happy to see she was returning to home shopping on a new net, Evine Live. But her product was a hanger that bore a remarkable resemblance to those that HSN Invention Queen Joy Mangano sells. Is Scanlon trying to be “Huggable”?

We will still hate the Evine Live name forever, but we think it was brilliant for the network to introduce its Top Value, Today’s Special or whatever else you want to call it at 10 p.m. each night, two hours before HSN and QVC. This change has us tuning in to Evine Live before midnight.

Why is Lisa Robertson smiling?

Why is Lisa Robertson smiling?

Kudos to the home shopping nets for their recent jewelry shows. Evine Live did a particularly nice job with its live broadcasts from Tucson. Wish we were there.

We missed the soiree that Evine Live held at the Plaza in the Big Apple during Valentine’s Day weekend, when the channel introduced its new moniker. Lisa Vanderpump, Paula Deen and playboy chef Todd English were all there, as was Giggy, who dresses better than we do.

But there was an uproar from fans of the Three Amigos — Chuck Clemency, Paul Deasy and Michael Valitutti — because they weren’t included in the festivities. Some viewers feared that Evine Live’s new management was sacking the dynamic trio. It was a tempest in a teapot, because these jewelry mavens appear to be quite secure, and deservedly so, as Evine Live vendors.

Talk show host Wendy Williams, who at one pointed lived in our town of Montclair, N.J., had a jewelry line on QVC that never got traction. In fact, former QVC host Lisa Robertson made several appearances on Williams’ show. Well, Williams has now joined the flock of ex-QVC vendors who have been picked up by HSN. But it looks like Williams is doing apparel for HSN, not baubles.

Speaking of Robertson, QVC viewers continue to be obsessed with her love life. She posted photos on Facebook of her recent vacation, which showed her with a younger man. He is apparently her trainer, Eric. Is her also her boyfriend? Some claim that Lisa said on Facebook that he is, but we couldn’t find any such comment.

Anyway, if he is her squeeze, good for her. If not, that’s cool, too.

“Housewive” Lisa Vanderpump Heading To ShopHQ

February 6, 2015

Are you ready for EVINE Live, ShopHQ fans? And are you ready for Lisa Vanderpump, of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” fame?

The No. 3 home shopping network has set Valentine’s Day weekend to roll out its new moniker, which it is no secret that we hate. But we do like Lisa, and watch her on both “Housewives” and her other Bravo show, “Vanderpump Rules.”

http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/marketwire/1172522.htm

In a nice touch, Lisa will be launching her Vanderpump Estate Jewelry Collection during EVINE Live’s Valentine’s weekend live broadcast from The Plaza hotel in New York City.

“We’re delighted to welcome Lisa Vanderpump to the EVINE Live family,” said our buddy (not) Mark Bozek, CEO of the network.

“While most know Lisa for her hit reality television series, few know about her talent and passion for design. The premiere of Lisa’s exclusive jewelry collection on EVINE Live will give fans the unique opportunity to see Lisa in a whole new light as a designer.” Bozek added.

“The launch of proprietary brands such as the Vanderpump Estate Jewelry Collection and the other exclusive brands debuting on Valentine’s weekend is a keystone in our goal to diversify our product mix and create exciting and sustainable brands.”
And what did the Pump say, in her canned statement?

“I cannot wait to share my designs with EVINE Live’s viewers,” Lisa said. “In developing this collection, I wanted to create something that all women could enjoy — a collection that was both attainable and glamorous. The Estate Jewelry Collection is the first of my collections created especially for EVINE Live — with more planned to come later this year.”

Here the boilerplate, and hype, from the release:

Vanderpump Estate Jewelry embodies Vanderpump’s signature sense of style, and features simulated gemstones and sparkling crystals to create bold, glamorous looks. Created exclusively for EVINE Live, the collection fuses inspirations from her own jewelry collection as well as her extensive global travels.

Vanderpump will showcase a variety of styles during her debut, and will broadcast live from “Eloise at The Plaza,” the one-of-a-kind store inspired by Eloise, the fictional heroine of Kay Thomson’s classic book.

Vanderpump’s career spans far beyond her appearances on television. A philanthropist, mother and entrepreneur, Vanderpump and her husband of 28 years have opened two successful restaurants in the Los Angeles area, along with 26 others which Vanderpump designed herself.

The “Real Housewives” star has a love for fashion and d├ęcor, designing most of her own clothes and adding personal touches to just about everything in her home, which has become the inspiration for her Vanderpump Collections.
