Evine Names New Merchandising, Digital Execs

March 7, 2017

Evine is bolstering its management team, bringing in a consumer-electronics veteran of QVC and HSN and promoting an in-house digital exec.

The No. 3 home shopping network on Monday said it had hired Rob Ellerstein as vice president, general merchandise manager of hard home and consumer electronics. What the heck is “hard home”?

In addition, Evine promoted Lee Goehring to the slot of vice president, web merchandising & business development.

Ellerstein joins Evine from QVC, where he was most recently director of merchandising, electronics. Prior to that, he served as HSN’s vice president of merchandising and operating vice president/director of merchandising.

In addition, Ellerstein spent seven years at Macy’s Inc., where he was a senior buyer of home products, including rugs, housewares, electronics and food products.

“In 2017 we are focused on growing our profitable, balanced merchandising mix with engaging exclusive and proprietary products,” Evine CEO Bob Rosenblatt said in a canned statement.

“To help us do that well, I’m excited to welcome Rob Ellerstein as vice president, general merchandising manager of hard home and consumer electronics. I had the pleasure of working with Rob at HSN and I know he will be a great addition to our team.”

Goehring got a promotion. He began his Evine career in 2012, and most recently had the post of vice president of merchandising for the home and consumer electronics categories.

Prior to Evine, Goehring served for five years as vice president of national accounts at Technology Resource Group International and worked as a senior buyer at Target Corp. and Best Buy Co.

“We continue to drive our digital sales opportunity beyond traditional television as illustrated by our growth in mobile, social, online and emerging platforms like Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Firestick,” Rosenblatt said.

“Lee will be focused on creating a seamless connection from our TV platform to our e-commerce engine and exploring other ways to grow our digital platforms.”

April 24, 2016

Evine Live has made some management shifts.

The No. 3 home shopping network has appointed Nicole Ostoya as executive vice president and chief marketing officer and promoted Lee Goehring to vice president of merchandising for the home and consumer electronics categories.

Ostoya previously served as Evine Live’s interim chief marketing officer, with oversight of marketing, creative, e-commerce and broadcasting. Her retail resume includes 28 years with Nordstrom, where she held buying and merchandising positions, as well as holding the position of full-line store Manager for several of their larger stores.

Ostoya was eventually recruited by LVMH to work on one of their flagship properties, Benefit Cosmetics, as director of business development. She successfully launched Benefit Cosmetics on QVC, helping bring the brand to life on television. Since then, she has run a public company, and launched several companies as an entrepreneur, including the beauty brands The New Black and Kissing Elixirs.

“Nicole’s nearly 30 years of retail experience, where she drove the development of countless brand and customer acquisition strategies, will greatly enhance our ability to grow our customer base and generate greater awareness of the Evine Live brand,” Evine Live Chairman Bob Rosenblatt said. “The addition of her to the EvineE Live team shows our investment in furthering our growth strategies.”

Goehring also spent five years at Target Corp. in the role of senior buyer and lead merchant, leading electronics and video games for the online division, and eight years at Best Buy Corp. in the role of senior buyer, where he was also involved in the electronics category.

“The promotion of Lee to vice president of our home and consumer electronics product categories reinforces our commitment in building a cohesive merchandising strategy with a greater emphasis on products and brands that drive customer acquisition and retention,” Rosenblatt. “Lee’s proven ability to foster strong, long-term vendor relationships will allow us to be even more opportunistic in the marketplace.”

ShopNBC Names Target Vet Its Director of Consumer Electronics

July 11, 2012

ShopNBC has appointed Lee Goehring, a retail veteran of Target Corp. and Best Buy, its director of consumer electronics, the home shopping network said Tuesday.

Consumer electronics is a segment where ShopNBC has had a disaster, with one of its vendors apparently going under and CE sales just generally plummeting.

Previously, Goehring was a senior buyer for electronics at Target Corp., where “he achieved double-digit improvements in sales in a highly competitive e-commerce marketplace,” according to ShopNBC.

He also held electronics merchandising positions at Best Buy including home audio, computer peripherals, hardware and notebooks.

Most recently, Goehring managed a $150 million portfolio of electronics product lines for major national retailers. His appointment is the result of an extended national executive search, ShopNBC said.

“We are pleased to have Lee join our team as director of consumer electronics,” ShopNBC president Bob Ayd said in a canned statement. “His extensive experience, proven track record and industry contacts will be an important component of strengthening the consumer electronics segment over the long term. We look forward to his contributions.”
