Donald Trump’s Wife Melania Tells The New York Times About Her New QVC Jewelry Line

April 16, 2010

Melania Trump, a fellow Taurus, debuts her QVC jewelry line April 30

The New York Times has a story Friday that we broke quite a while ago: Melania Trump, Donald’s better half, is debuting a jewelry line on QVC this month.

Headlined “Another Trump Hopes What Glitters Will Be Gold,” the story in the Times’s advertising column said that Melania’s debut date is April 30, which is four days after her birthday, and two days after our’s. (But please, please don’t flood us with birthday gifts).

The ex-model’s QVC line, called Melania Timepieces and Jewelry, includes a braided necklace for $40, a faux ruby cocktail ring at $35, and a silver bracelet watch for $64.

Needless to say, Times reporter Douglas Quenqua couldn’t resist getting in a snide dig at QVC.

“A Trump on QVC? Isn’t that a tad …downscale?” he writes.

But Melania takes the jibe in stride, pointing out that her husband has a necktie line that sells in Macy’s, and that QVC will let her reach a wide audience with her jewelry.

And listen to this puffy quote she gave The Times about the No. 1 shopping channel.

“They are the biggest and the best in that world,” Melania told The Times.
