QVC Vendor Nicole Richie Polishes Off A 19-Ounce Steak On Fashion’s Night Out

September 9, 2012

We have a couple of good blogs on the back burner, but just haven’t had time to write them. Sorry guys.

But here is a little behind-the-scenes info about QVC’s Fsshion’s Night Out, via the New York Daily News’s gossip column “Condidential” on Saturday.

The column reported that razor-thin Nicole Richie, who has a new clothing line on QVC, chowed down when she wasn’t on the air live Thursday from QVC’s Manhattan event in the Meatpacking District.

According to the News, when singer Jennifer Hudson was pitching her QVC clothing line Thursday, Richie hoofed it over to the legendary Old Homestead Steakhouse.

“We-Don’t-Know-Where-She-Puts-It” Richie ordered a “19-ounce bone-in filet,” the News reported. But before she could finish up her hunk of steer, QVC’s folks fetched her back to go on the air again.

“Later, our insider says, she ordered another filet, a platter of shrimp, a side of creamed spinach and a bowl of garlic mashed potatoes, all of which she polished off,” the News said.

That’s just a midnight snack for us.

Singer/Weight Watchers’ poster girl Jennifer Hudson and Nicole Richie will be among those in the house, with Hudson debuting her fashion line for QVC.

The shindig, which we attended last year (not invited this year), will be from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Here’s a little history on Fashion’s Night Out. It’s “an international celebration of style and shopping” created by Vogue Magazine, the CFDA, NYC & Company and the City of New York.

According to QVC.com, the home shopping network will be giving us a “fashion insider’s tour of New York’s distinctive shopping districts, from 5th Avenue to Fashion Avenue, Brooklyn to Broadway.” The crew will also be in the trendy Meatpacking District.

An entire area will be dedicated to QVC beauty, offering makeup and skincare consultations as well as showcasing high-tech beauty devices from brands including Laura Geller, MAKE UP FOR EVER, T3, Dr. Gross, Tria, OleHenriksen, tarte, TEMPTU, Bare Escentuals and Clarisonic.

During the event, QVC will showcase special FNO programming with a live broadcast – “Fashion Night’s Out – Live from New York” at 9 p.m., featuring the debuts of WILDLIFE by Heidi Klum, Kris Jenner Kollection and CE by Cristina Ehrlich.
Established QVC designers including Lori Goldstein, Marc Bouwer, Amrita Singh and Melania Trump are also scheduled to present new pieces during the show.

QVC’s NY Fashion Week event continues Friday at 11 p.m. with a live broadcast from the SoHo location unveiling new designs from Dennis Basso, Camila Alves, as well as the latest collection from iconic Hollywood stylist Rachel Zoe, who has additional programming throughout the day on Saturday.

It all concludes with the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – Live from New York broadcast on Saturday at 10 p.m.. A live runway show will feature new collections from Mizrahi, the Kardashians, Bradley Bayou and an encore appearance by Klum.

“We are thrilled to, once again, bring the excitement of Fashion’s Night Out and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to our viewers,” QVC U.S. CEO Claire Watts said in a canned statement. “With a star-studded list of celebrities and designers as well as access to exclusive behind-the-scenes content, this is one programming event that shoppers won’t want to miss.”

MAKE UP FOR EVER, the go-to brand for beauty professionals and makeup enthusiasts around the world, will be creating the looks for both QVC’s FNO and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week broadcasts, and will offer a two-piece smoky metallic eye kit for viewers to purchase.

During all three broadcasts, QVC will once again lend its support to the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in its fight against breast cancer by offering Vogue-designed FNO merchandise created especially for QVC. Net proceeds from the sale of these items, sold exclusively through QVC, will benefit “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer,” the charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation Inc.

Hell Has Frozen Over: Vogue Editor Anna Wintour Was In QVC’s Rock Center Pop-Up Shop Tonight

September 11, 2010

We got home from an exciting Friday night working out and food shopping at Pathmark and immediately tuned into QVC’s live telecast from Fashion’s Night Out in Manhattan.

Sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian launched their QVC K-Dash line tonight at the home shopping network’s temporary store in Rock Center, and they were on when we turned on the Q. They were showing off a gorgeous, large pebble leather purse that came in army green and black, that was selling at a featured price of $217.

All three Kardashian girls designed the line, but nasty Khloe couldn’t make it to the telecast. We like Kim and Kourtney, and thought they were sweet. And we liked not only their handbag but some of their apparel pieces.

Host Lisa Robertson looked great, with her makeup much more natural looking, not the harder beauty-queen look she sports back in West Chester, Pa.

The QVC telecast has also been shooting live from sites in SoHo, the Meatpacking District and other Manhattan spots, and the Big Apple is hopping, with stores open late for Fashion Week and a crowd in QVC’s pop-up shop.

Sometime during this telecast someone mentioned that fashion’s sunglass-addicted ice queen, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, had been in QVC’s “shop” earlier in the night, signing copies of her September issue. High fashion queen meets home shopping network?

Who’d a thunk it?

Emmy-winning “Mad Men” costume designer Janie Bryant also debuted her new MOD QVC line. We loved a faux fur capelet she had in her collection for $100.

Designer Lori Goldstein, who was profiled in The New York Times Friday, was also on the air with Robertson, with a jacket and dress.

The Times said that Goldstein is doing a jewelry line for high-end jewelry house Fred Leighton.
