QVC’s Rachel Zoe And HSN’s Todd English Featured In Page Six Gossip Column

August 28, 2012

The New York Post’s addictive gossip column, Page Six, had two juicy tidbits about home shopping celebrity vendors on Monday.

The lead item was about QVC vendor and red-carpet stylist Rachel Zoe, and its headline was “Label’s doing not Zoe well.”

The column claimed that the upscale clothing line that razor-thin Zoe has debuted with Li & Fung is flopping. Page Six also claims that Zoe’s show on Bravo, “The Rachel Zoe Project,” may not get a fifth season pickup.

The column asserted that Zoe’s fancy apparel line is not selling well at the kinds of places where we can’t afford to shop, such as Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale’s.

And a Page Six perennial favorite, celebrity chef and HSN vendor Todd English, may be getting his own reality show on E! Entertainment Television. The show would center on English and his restaurant kingdom, which includes Olives, Ca Va and the Plaza Food Hall, according to Page Six, which calls English “the playboy chef.”

The column also noted that English’s ex-fiancee, the woman he left at the altar, Erica Wang, has been charged with shoplifting from Sephora and Ralph Lauren.

Did HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English Share His Oysters With Four Blonde Beauties?

September 22, 2010

Usually it’s the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column that taunts HSN vendor/celebrity chef Todd English, but on Tuesday the New York Daily News jumped on that train.

English, a ladies man who got a lot of bad press when he left his bride-to-be Erica Wang at the altar a year ago, has been spotted by Page Six with plenty of babes since then.

And the News’ gossip column, Gatecrasher, reported that English “isn’t one for subtlety when it comes to his playboy lifestyle.”

English was seen sharing a meal with “four young blonde beauties” at Flex Mussels, an eatery in the West Village, the News said.

And what he was dining on? Oysters. We guess when you’re 50 and you’ve got a flock of chicks to entertain, you need the oysters.

You’ll have to read the News to see the snarky remark it made about English’s oysters.

HSN Vendor/Celebrity Chef Todd English Calls Bride-Jilting Scandal ‘Horrible Time’ In His Life

August 12, 2010

Todd English wants you -- to go to Ca Va

Hunky celebrity chef-restaurateur-HSN vendor Todd English has apparently forgiven The New York Post for the many stories it did last October about him allegedly jilting his bride-to-be, Erica Wang.

English gave the tabloid an extensive interview for a three-page spread Wednesday, and we couldn’t find one mention of HSN in it. We hope you’re not ashamed of your home-shopping gig, selling a line of “green” pans, Todd.

The Post story is part of English’s efforts to drum up publicity for his new Manhattan restaurant, a French brasserie called Ca Va. The article is headlined “NYC’s Tasty Dish: After Being Burned By Love, Sexy Celebrity Chef Todd English is Back Fanning the Flames.”

In the piece, The Post drags out all the dirty details of English’s “scandalous breakup” with his fiancee Wang last fall.
Asked about what happened, and if he had any remorse over how it played out in the press, English told the Post, “Oh my God, yes, of course. Yes. It’s horrible. I’m not all that tough. It was a horrible time in my life.”

Wang gave The Post an exclusive interview last October claiming that English had left her at the altar, and she went ahead with the fancy reception at the posh St. Regis anyway. Wang also charged that English left her holding the bag for $12,000 of costs from the cancelled wedding.

English disputed Wang’s claims, saying he had told her the nuptials were off long before the wedding day and that he’d paid all the bills for the derailed event.

The whole mess got even nastier when English filed charges against Wang for hitting him in the head with his pricey Chopard watch. A judge subsequently ordered Wang to take anger management classes.

English told the Post hat he’s got a new TV series in the works, and that he is writing two books.

But the best was the Post’s headline for the jump on its spread on the bedroom-eyed chef: “English (Stud) Muffin.”

Celebrity Chef and HSN Pot Peddler Todd English Finally Gives His Side Of The Story About Jilting His Bride — and Page Six Writes About It

July 12, 2010

We weren’t going to blog today.

We spent the weekend at a friend’s house on Long Beach Island, celebrating our BFF Ann’s birthday. Our dinner for six at a new eatery was a lot of fun, and we even found a dive bar no one had ever heard of to hang at.

But driving home on the Garden State Parkway Sunday, we just couldn’t keep our eyes open, we were so tired. We’d gone to bed about 1:30 a.m., had trouble sleeping (as we usually do when we’re not in our own bed) and then got up at 7 a.m. to shower and make 8:45 a.m. mass.

We were nodding off when we came within an inch, we swear, of hitting the car ahead of us when it slowed down because of traffic. We knew we had to get off the road and go to a rest stop, and get coffee or something, even though we’re not supposed to have caffeine.

Todd English for the first time gives his side of he story about his messy cancelled wedding in an interview on

We decided to get a large Diet Coke, to help wash down the Pizza Hut bread sticks and pepperoni personal pan pizza that’s one of our favorite meals — yes, we admit it. Obviously, we’re shouldn’t be eating such fattening fare, as it appears to be going directly to our thighs. As we noshed, we had the New York Post with us and began to read it.

Lo and behold, Page Six hasn’t picked on celebrity chef/restaurateur and HSN pot peddler (as in kitchen equipment) Todd English for months. But it wrote about him today.

Last October the Post broke the story that handsome English had jilted his bride-to-be, Erica Wang, and then stiffed her for the cost of the reception for their cancelled nuptials. It was very nasty, with Wang hurling charges against English and portraying him as a rat, and the chef eventually filing an assault charge against Wang for nailing him on the head with his own watch once. Those charges were later dropped.

We salute the Post for writing an item about English’s first interview talking about the terrible publicity the whole blow-up had caused him — and denying that any of Wang’s charges were true. You can watch English, and judge whether you think he’s telling the truth, in a video clip on

Asked whether he was a ladies man or playboy, English said, “You read too much Page Six.”

He said the hoopla over his and Wang’s cancelled wedding was “a sad time in my life.” English said he “paid for the whole party,” and did not stiff Wang.

As to all the press coverage about his leaving Wang at the altar, English said, “It certainly wasn’t the true story behind it.”

As to being a playboy, English said, “I enjoy life, I like to have a good time,” but added that he’s looking for a serious relationship.

HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English Still Has Taste For Asian Woman, According To New York Post

February 27, 2010

The New York Post must save a spot in its Page Six gossip column each Saturday for an item on HSN celebrity chef Todd English.

Ever since English left his bride-to-be, Erica Wang, at the altar last October, the Post has been writing about him. Most of those tidbits have been about English kicking up his heels at some joint having a good ol’ time, not mourning his nasty break-up with Wang.

Today Page Six wrote about a possibly touchy subject: English’s “taste for Asian beauties.” His jilted bride Wang is of Asian descent, and today’s item says English was spotted in Las Vegas at American Fish “chatting up” an Asian woman at the bar there.

Page Six added that on Wednesday, Todd was seen with “another Asian stunner” while flying from Sin City to the other sin city, South Beach.

We’ve read stories by Asian woman talking about the sexual stereotypes Caucasian men have about them, and how they feel about those myths.

We’re half Puerto Rican, so we’re aware of the Latin spitfire, Madonna-whore, notions that men have about Hispanic women. We once went to a party for a Spanish-language cable network, and we ran into men who were essentially there just to meet the Latina hot tamale of their dreams.

It gave us the creeps. You couldn’t tell if the guy was interested in you, or the Latin stereotype he had in his head.

Temper, Temper: Judge Tells HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English’s Jilted Bride To Take Anger Management Classes

January 15, 2010

The soapy saga of HSN celebrity chef Todd English and the fiance he left at the altar, Erica Wang, doesn’s seem to end.

On Thursday Wang was in criminal court in New York City on domestic violence charges that English, a Boston restaurateur who sells a “Green Pan” line on HSN, filed against her. Both the New York Post and the New York Daily News reported on the court hearing.

According to the tabloid reports, the judge told Wang that the charges against her would be dropped in six months if she takes anger-management classes and does 10 days of community service. She must also abide by a restraining order that bars her from bothering English.

Getting the classic groom’s cold feet, English bowed out of his planned Oct. 3 wedding to Wang. The couple had paid for a $150,000 reception at the St. Regis in Manhattan, which Wang went ahead with despite the fact that her wedding had been cancelled.

The scorned woman, Wang, promptly gave the Post an exclusive interview where she blasted English, calling him “an animal.” The day after the Post ran the story, English lodged a domestic violence complaint against Wang, charging she used his watch to slash a one-inch cut near his eye last September.

Such drama.

Months After Jilting Bride, HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English Is Frolicking In St. Barts With Mystery Woman

January 13, 2010

HSN celebrity chef Todd English has rebounded quite nicely after allegedly leaving his bride-to-be at the altar last October.

English, a Boston restaurateur, was seen “with a mystery Asian beauty” on the beach at St. Barts last weekend, The New York Post’s Page Six reported Wednesday. Some witnesses apparently initially thought that the woman was English’s ex-fiance, Erica Wang. But the “mystery” woman was not Wang.

English, who sells a line of environmentally friendly pots and pans on HSN, made tabloid news last fall when he jilted Wang.

Wang opened up and told her side of the story to the Post, painting English as a real cad who stiffed her some money owed on their wedding reception.

English, in turn, filed assault charges against Wang, alleging that she had whacked him in the head with his own watch.

As we’ve said before, the English-Wang mess makes our romantic break-ups look good.

After Allegedly Jilting His Bride, HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English Spotted ‘Sucking Face’ With Leggy Chick, New York Post’s Page Six Spy Says

November 23, 2009

The New York Post’s Page Six must have someone tailing HSN celebrity chef Todd English. We’re even starting to feel sorry for the guy, even though he allegedly jilted his bride-to-be and left her at the altar the day of their wedding.

Monday’s Page Six, in an item headlined “Face Time,” reports that English, who was on HSN last week with his green cookware, was rebounding well after leaving Erica Lang, his former fiancee.

Page Six says that English was spotted “sucking serious face” with a pretty young thing at the Brass Monkey Bar in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District.

The Post broke the story about English dumping Wang, who got her revenge by giving the tabloid an exclusive about how he was a cad who dumped her on their would-be wedding day.

English responded by filing domestic abuse charges against Wang, whe he claims hit him in the head with his own watch.

HSN fans don’t seem to be holding any of this against him.

Celebrity Chefs Are Hot For HSN, But There’s No News About Todd English And His Bride-Jilting Caper

November 12, 2009

HSN was crowing Thursday about the success of the high-profile chefs that hawk products on the network. We guess it’s no surprise that officials didn’t mention the tabloid headlines that Todd English made recently for allegedly jilting his bride-to-be.

During a third-quarter conference call Thursday, HSN CEO Mindy Grossman said that the network “marries the best chefs of HSN with our successful commerce platform,” citing English, Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse.

The home shopping network expanded its chef roster last with week with the premieres of cook/TV host/cookbook authors Padma Lakshmi and Ingrid Hoffmann as part of the channel’s second annual “HSN Cooks” event. Lakshmi is a host of Bravo’s hit “Top Chef,” while Hoffman does shows for Food Network and Univision.

“The combination of diversity of product, personality and programming resulted in a sales increase of 40 percent over last year’s event,” Grossman said.

HSN was able to strike a deal with Lakshmi and leverage “the tremendous popularity of the ‘Top Chef’ reality series” after talking to her in April about doing a line of cutlery, teas and spices. That Easy Exotic line launched and sold out during the cooks’ event, according to Grossman.

Not mentioned again in the call was English, who was recently in the news in his home base of Boston and in New York City when he left his fiancee, Erica Wang, at the altar the day they were supposed to get married in Manhattan.

Wang painted English as a rat in an exclusive interview with The New York Post. Days later, English filed domestic abuse charges against Wang in Boston, alleging that she hit him in the head with his own watch.

HSN Celebrity Chef Todd English Tries To Make Getaway From Paparazzi, New York Post’s Page Six Reports

November 5, 2009

The New York Post won’t leave HSN celebrity chef Todd English alone, and therefore neither will we.

Page Six has an item Thursday headlined “Duck and Cover,” about English trying to escape Mr. Chow’s 30th anniversary party in Manhattan before the paparazzi took his photo.

The Boston restaurateur has been tabloid fodder ever since he jilted his bride-to-be Erica Wang, essentially leaving her at the altar. Wang gave an exclusive interview to the Post that slammed English as a rat. Soon after that, English filed domestic abuse charges against her. He claimed that Wang hit him in the head with his watch.
