August 17, 2012

Trish McEvoy, the well-known makeup artist and servant to the stars, will debut on HSN on Aug. 29.

Launching during HSN’s Fall Fashion “Ultimate Trunk Show” presented by Elle magazine, McEvoy will demonstrate the tricks she uses on her red-carpet clients, through on-air teaching demonstrations, exclusive “how-to” videos on HSN.com as well.

“HSN is committed to offering our customers the best products and access to top authorities in the beauty industry,” Betsy Olum, HSN’ general manager of beauty, said in a canned statement. “We are excited to have Trish McEvoy become a part of the HSN family. Adding her innovative collection of products to our beauty assortment continues to elevate HSN as the ultimate beauty destination.”

The collection at HSN will include exclusive product bundles including the Trish McEvoy Makeup Planner, “offering everything customers will need for a flawless face in a revolutionary portable makeup vanity,” so the HSN hype machine said.

Additional bundles include McEvoy’s “Triangle of Light,” “Brighten and Define” and the “Easy Smokey Eye.” An extended assortment of her skincare, makeup, tools and fragrances, will also be available on HSN.com and HSN mobile.

And if you believe that McEvoy said the next statement, we have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

“My passion and purpose has always been to teach women the Power of Makeup with results-oriented products that deliver each and every time,” McEvoy said in her canned statement.

“I am so excited to bring the products and teachings that have emerged from so many countless makeup lessons, workshops, photo shoots, award shows—all my years in makeup—to the HSN client. By partnering with HSN, I will be able to empower even more women with the products and techniques that will make a difference in their beauty and sense of self.”

‘True Blood’-Inspired Fragrance, ‘Bite Me’ Lipstick Coming To HSN

July 3, 2012

HSN apparently wants to do bad things with you.

Yes, talk about an odd couple, HSN and HBO. Really?

HSN and “True Blood”? Holy cow!

What would Sookie say? Well, she’s got a nail polish named after her now.

Here’s the deal: HBO Global Licensing is launching Forsaken, a fragrance inspired By the award-winning sexy vampire soap opera on HSN on Aug. 9.

This Forsaken Collection will include not only the fragrance developed by Givaudan, but also home goods from D.L. & Co. and the first-ever lip color with coordinating nail shade from Deborah Lippmann

Not for nuthin’, as we say in Jersey, but when we were covering cable we were mad about “True Blood,” and blogged about it, during its first season, before it became a big hit.

HBO has partnered with Forsaken LLC, a specialty licensing partnership created by Multi Media Exposure and Virtue Development, to create a one-of-a-kind luxury collection which includes: the Forsaken signature fragrance created by Givaudan; beauty products from Deborah Lippmann and home fragrance products from D.L. & Co.

A first for HBO, the line will launch exclusively on HSN in conjunction with the show’s fifth season. The collection will be available at the HBO Shop in September and will follow with worldwide distribution at specialty retailers late this year.

The Forsaken collection will be spotlighted on HSN with four one-hour segments running throughout the day on Aug. 9, starting at 12:01 a.m.

“We were thrilled to have met HSN through our existing relationship with Givaudan,” James Costos, vice president of HBO Global Licensing, said in a canned statement. “Mindy Grossman at HSN introduced us to amazing partners who made the Forsaken line a reality by developing and executing fabulous products. We are excited to provide HSN with the exclusive launch as it introduces the ‘True Blood’ brand to a whole new audience.”

HSN chimed in.

“HSN is proud to be the first to offer HBO’s Forsaken collection,” said Betsy Olum, general manager of beauty and merchandising strategy. “It’s one of a kind, sensual collection of products that taps into the essence of the show, and will excite both the HSN customer and the ‘True Blood’ fan.”

Forsaken will be available to consumers in an Eau de Parfum, a body cream and shimmering body veil powder.

Here’s the hype from the press release:

The fragrance is evocative of the dark and seductive world of ‘True Blood,’ capturing the soul of the show and combining it with trendsetting, iconic products.

Prominent fragrance house Givaudan developed Forsaken with an addictive blend of light and dark notes. Pulpy fruits paired with crisp pear notes are followed by mid notes of night blooming jasmine, also fittingly known as Queen of the Night. The scent closes with the dark muskiness of amber and patchouli. Ultra feminine, yet sultry, the fragrance will cast a spell on everyone.

The Forsaken fragrance will be incorporated into a nail lacquer developed by world-renowned celebrity manicurist, Deborah Lippmann, who began crafting her own nail colors over 15 years ago. The lacquer that carries the fragrance is entitled ‘Let It Bleed’ and is part of a combination set with a coordinating lipstick — Lippmann’s first ever — called ‘Bite Me.’

Lippmann also created two additional sets for the collection: ‘Sookie Sookie’ featuring full-size ‘Human Nature,’ ‘Fairydust’ and ‘Bad Things’; and a trio of minis including ‘Strange Love,’ ‘New Flesh’ and ‘Bad Blood.’

Rounding out the collection is a specialty line of home products from D. L. & Co., which includes luxury candles and diffusers with the Forsaken scent developed by Givaudan.

Here’s the press release’s boilerplate on “True Blood.” We don’t know why it doesn’t mention all the naked bodies and kinky sex in the show.

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, ‘True Blood’ takes place in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source.

The show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and her soul mate, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy-winning HBO series ‘Six Feet Under’) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Actress Eva Longoria To Debut Second Perfume On HSN Thursday, Some Proceeds Go To Latina Fund

March 28, 2012

Did you know that Eva Longoria was an “actor, director, producer and philanthropist”?

That’s what HSN said earlier this week, when it announced — as we’ve previously reported — that Longoria was coming to the home shopping network.

Longoria and Falic Fashion Group (FFG) will premiere the actress’s second fragrance, EVAmour by Eva Longoria.

It will launch exclusively on HSN during the 24 Hour Spring Beauty Event on Thursday.

“EVAmour will become a personal scent for women who are confident, beautiful, sexy and intelligent…just like the HSN customer,” Longoria said in a canned statement. “I know how I feel when I am wearing it and I wish every woman to feel that same sense of sexiness and power.”

For every bottle sold, the actress will donate $1 to the Eva Longoria Foundation, which was created to help the Latina community build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. Hey, since we’re half Puerto Rican, that’s cool.

“Fragrance is about emotion, storytelling and aspiration,” Betsy Olum, HSN’s general manager of beauty, said in a canned statement. “HSN gives our partners a platform to tell their story and really engage with their fans. We are thrilled that Eva has chosen to debut her latest fragrance with HSN.”

The EVAmour collection on HSN includes the eau de parfum in various sizes and a gift set, which includes the 3.4 fl oz, a mini travel bottle, a rollerball of the fragrance and a luxurious shower gel.

“The notes of the fragrance are comprised of Bergamot Blossom, Pink Lady Apple and Red Currant, with a heart of rich, sexy floral notes and end with a warm vanilla, amber and musk,” HSN said.

Ooo laa laa.

“Eva Longoria as a celebrity personality appeals to so many women,” Jerome Falic, CEO of Falic Fashion Industry, said in a canned statement. “Eva Longoria as a fragrance has translated beautifully and coming off the success of her first fragrance it made perfect sense to follow with the launch of EVAmour. With HSN as a retail partner we feel this launch will be equally — if not more — successful and will solidify the Eva Longoria brand in the beauty industry.”

Singer Mary J. Blige To Premiere Second Fragance On HSN

July 13, 2011

Mary J. Blige is back on HSN.

Following the exclusive debut of her first fragrance, My Life, on HSN last year, Blige is expanding her fragrance collection with the launch of My Life Blossom, “a creamy, addictive floral fragrance,” on HSN Aug. 13.

The release says:

My Life Blossom is an evolution of the original My Life fragrance. The original scent was the most successful fragrance launch in HSN’s history and recently won two FiFi Awards. The new fragrance follows Mary on her journey of self-discovery, as she celebrates her inner peace, integrity and assuredness. Mirroring Mary’s personal experiences, My Life Blossom was developed to exude confidence, grace and beauty.

“Life can be beautiful when you’re clear about who you are,” was Blige’s canned quote. “I am so excited to introduce this to my fans and to continue to give back to women thru FFAWN.”

HSN’s two cents:

“The highly successful launch of My Life last year forged new ground within the beauty industry, and My Life Blossom provides us with another opportunity to engage and delight Mary’s fans,” said Betsy Olum, HSN’s general manager of beauty and merchandising strategy. “Mary is an engaging storyteller who inspires confidence in women — and we are excited to have her share this new fragrance exclusively with HSN customers.”

Blige teamed up again with her friend and business partner Lisa Price of Carol’s Daughter to create My Life Blossom. The scent leads with bright florals of gardenia petals, mandarin, white greesia and orange flower. A heart of tuberose, blooming jasmine and marigold emerges, leaving a lingering base of sexy sandalwood, cashmere wood-warming vanilla.

My Life Blossom will be available exclusively on HSN and hsn.com.

As part of HSN Cares’ charitable campaign, for every My Life Blossom Eau de Parfum purchase, one dollar will be donated to the charity FFAWN, The Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now.

FFAWN was formed by Blige and Steve Stoute, to help women reach their individual potential through the support of scholarships, grants and programs.
