Latina Designer Cenia Paredes Coming To HSN

June 12, 2016

AcHSN, the home shopping network that makes the most effort to target women of color, is adding a little more Latin flava.

Fashion designer Cenia Paredes, who is Dominican, is bringing her Cenia Fit apparel collection to HSN, the New York Daily News reported last week.

She will debut June 24 with a line that she says is tailored for the bodies of Dominican — or dare we say some Hispanic — women have, namely pear-shaped.

That is different than the mass-market fashions made for women with hourglass figures, she is quoted as saying.

Maybe her clothes will actually fit us. (Actually, we just noticed that her clothes come in regular fit and “Cenia Fit,” which is for curvier gals.)

Cenia trumpeted the fact that she is coming to HSN on her company’s Facebook page, which has many photos of her sheath dresses.

Some of them are already available on

‘Real Housewives of New York’ Countess To Do Jewelry For Evine Live

September 25, 2015

Home shopping networks can’t get enough of the ladies from Bravo’s various “Real Housewives” franchises.

Confidential, the gossip column in the New York Daily News, on Thursday reported that the Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of “The Real Housewives of New York” will be launching a jewelry collection on Evine Live on Oct. 15.

De Lesseps already does an apparel line for Evine Live. The countess joins Lisa Vanderpump of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” in terms of selling jewelry on Evine Live.

De Lesseps was apparently in a watering hole in Manhattan sucking down one of our favorite cocktails, a dirty martini, to celebrate the news of her first jewelry collection.

Fashionista Isaac Mizrahi Dishes To New York Daily News About The Plaid Cheesecake He’s Doing With Junior’s For QVC

November 22, 2009

Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi debuts on QVC Dec. 4, and Seventh Avenue is all abuzz.

Mizrahi, who has taken to wearing a silly scarf on his head, will be bringing premium apparel, accessories, housewares and cheesecake to West Chester, Pa. Yes, that’s right, cheesecake.

In a Q-and-A in the New York Daily News Sunday, Mizrahi says he “is doing a collaboration” with world famous Junior’s  cheesecake. The result is a cake “with a plaid fondant top,” he tells the News.

We know what plaid is, but we have no idea from “fondant” is. Anyway, Mizrahi already gave Women’s Wear Daily the scoop on his QVC stuff. And WWD has a photo of the tartan plaid cheesecake.

Mizrahi also told the News that he had whipped up some chocolate tuille cookies for QVC, but they couldn’t be successfully shipped. The designer said that QVC is going back to the drawing baord to try to find the right recipe that will make the cookies pass the shipping test.

Apart from his upcoming appearances on QVC, Mizrahi is also a reality TV star, featured on Bravo’s “The Fashion Show.”

Hellooooo! Fashion Designer Wayne Scot Lukas Is Back On ShopNBC, Prepare For Him To Shake Up The Hosts

November 19, 2009

One of our favorite refugee vendors who made the move from HSN to ShopNBC is fashion designer Wayne Scot Lukas. And absence he has several shows on the No. 3 home shopping channel Thursday.

Tune in.

Lukas, who often mentions his beloved mom in our state of New Jersey, is a pistol. He often had HSN host Colleen Lopez in stitches with his remarks during his Lukastyle presentations.

He speaks his mind and can be bitchy, complaining about the camera work on ShopNBC the last time we saw him. Lukas also makes loads of double entendres that shake up some hosts, and he is pretty open about his sexual orientation (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

Irregardless, he’s a hot guy, although we liked him better with long hair.

He does lots of knitwear in his collection, and has new pieces in for this visit. We looked for video on ShopNBC’s Web site from his 2 a.m. show, and found none. Maybe his commentary was too racy to put up on the site.

We’ll try to catch him later to hear him say his favorite catchword: “Hello.”

Iman, David Bowie’s Bride, Makes It A Wrap, A Sequined One, On HSN

November 15, 2009

Mo092409_BP_IMAN_adel-turned-entrepreneur Iman, who is married to rock star David Bowie, was on HSN at midnight with the network’s Today’s Special. It’s the “Wrap Yourself In Luxury Dazzling Sequin Knit Wrap,” at $39.95.

“This is what you are going to be wearing for the whole season,” said Iman, who was clad head to toe in black.

Fact is, Iman’s hype was right on. That wrap is gorgeous, long and with hand-sown sequins. Our favorite was the pewter color.

She said that the wrap is modeled after a gift that one of her designer friends gave to her. “Mine cost thousands of dollars,” Iman told viewers.

Iman, who seems as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, is very warm, friendly and funny. She goes around the world looking for unique items to translate into her line, Iman Global Chic, and bring them to HSN.

During her HSN presentations Iman often references her husband Bowie, a favorite of our mentor-best-editor-ever Marianne Paskowski. Marianne even once shared a smoke with Bowie. And we also know someone who was intimate with him (before his marriage to Iman, of course). We also hear that Bowie’s eyes are two different colors.

But we digress.

Last week during a third-quarter earnings call HSN CEO Mindy Grossman said that brands such as Iman’s Global Chic are a big part of the home shopping network’s strategy. The idea is to have loyal customers buy jewelry, apparel and accessories like handbags across the board from one vendor, like Iman.

Iman is celebrating her second anniversary on HSN all Sunday.

She mentioned that she was on Wendy Williams’ syndicated show and wound up gaving the former DJ, who lives in our town of Montclair, N.J., several of the jewelry pieces from her line that she was wearing.

November 13, 2009

Kim Parrish

Former HSN host and vendor Kim Parrish makes her maiden voyage on ShopNBC Friday might, with her Kim Parrish Collection. Her show premieres at 7 p.m.

The pieces include a ruffle top, jeans and a dolman sleeve top, among other items.

Parrish has a devout following, who seem eager to see her on the No. 3 home shopping channel.

There have been a number of HSN vendors who have landed at ShopNBC, most notably actress-author Suzanne Somers and celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Rey.
