Grammy Winner Jason Mraz To Perform Live On HSN July 1

We’re getting old: Things are blending together and we don’t know all the names of popular musical artists. A case in point is Grammy Award-winning Jason Mraz.

This guy, who we are sorry to say that we are not familiar with, will be performing live on HSN next Tuesday, July 1, at 9 p.m. He will be hawking his fifth album, “Yes!”

He joins the growing list of performers who have done live concerts now on the home shopping network, such as Mary J. Blige, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban, Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart.

British Singer Matt Goss Goes Live On HSN Sunday

Well, once again we are out of the music loop.

British crooner Matt Goss, who we have never heard of, will do a concert and debut his first U.S. album on HSN Easter night at 11 p.m., the network said Friday.

Described by HSN as a “singing sensation,” Goss will perform tracks from that album, “Life You Imagine,” during a one-hour special performance across all of HSN’s platforms, including TV, online and mobile.

He will also perform songs from his new CD on “Good Morning America” and “Fox & Friends” in the coming weeks.

Goss is now headlining at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, and is the former front-man of the band “Bros.”

HSN Opens Left Coast Office, Partners With United Entertainment Group

Establishing a presence in Hollywood, HSN named United Entertainment Group (UEG) its marketing partnership agency of record Monday and said it is opening a Los Angeles office.

The aim is for UEG and its partner UTA (United Talent Agency) to leverage their combined presence in Los Angeles and on Madison Avenue to build on the home shopping network’s continuing effort “to integrate entertainment and retail by building partnerships that consist of celebrity brands, unique music platforms, television and film collaborations, and like-minded brand partnerships,” HSN said in its press release.

“We are extremely excited to be entering into this partnership with HSNi as we believe they have a hugely successful, proven, and unique platform with which to engage and excite the Hollywood and Brand community,” UEG CEO Jarrod Moses said in a canned statement.

UEG, which is a joint venture with UTA, creates marketing platforms for consumer brands and entertainment properties.

“HSNi is thrilled to be working with a highly respected agency such as UEG as we open our Los Angeles offices to better engage the entertainment industry,” said Andy Sheldon, chief creative officer of HSN and general manager of HSN Entertainment.

Hearts afire, love desire — Earth, Wind & Fire will be performing live on HSN next month.

The Grammy Award-winning group will sing tracks from its new “Now, Then & Forever” CD at part of the HSN Live Concert series on Aug. 30. The performance is coming from The Venetian Las Vegas.

The show will air at 11 p.m., with HSN hawking an exclusive CD bundle of Earth, Wind & Fire’s new release, along with a bonus CD featuring six of their greatest hits. That package is now available for pre-order at HSN.com for $12.95.

“‘The Now, Then & Forever’ album is really about the legacy of Earth, Wind & Fire,” co-founder Philip Bailey said in a canned statement.

Bill Brand Gets Promoted As Even Bigger HSN Bigwig

We want to wish a belated congratulations to our buddy Bill Brand. He just got a promotion at HSN that makes him an even bigger kahuna than he was before.

This week HSN announced that Brand, formerly Executive Vice President of Programming, Marketing and Business Development at HSN, was promoted to Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer for HSN Inc., the parent company that includes the Cornerstone unit.

In addition, Andy Sheldon, formerly Executive Vice President of TV, Live Events and Creative at HSN, was named Chief Creative Officer for HSN Inc., and General Manager of HSN Productions.

HSN’s live Michael Bolton concert from Las Vegas isn’t a one-off for that venue, the home shopping network said Friday.

HSN and the Venetian Las Vegas have signed a multi-series concert deal to present “HSN Live From Las Vegas” with a kick-off concert featuring Grammy Award winner Bolton.

As we reported this week, Bolton will debut his newest CD “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – A Tribute to Hitsville U.S.A.” during a live performance on HSN with special appearances from such Motown greats as legend Smokey Robinson, Valerie Simpson (Ashford & Simpson), Martha Reeves and many others.

The CD featuring classic Motown hits including duets performed with Kelly Rowland and Melanie Fiona, along with exclusive room packages for The Venetian and The Palazzo and an exclusive six-track bonus CD, “Michael’s Greatest Hits Live,” can all be pre-ordered now at HSN.com.

HSN Sets Jan. 18 For Singer Josh Groban’s Live Performance

We already reported that singer Josh Groban was coming to HSN to hawk his new CD, but on Wednesday the home shopping network announced that he will appear on Jan. 18.

Groban will take the “HSN LIVE” stage at 9 p.m. a week from this Friday for the debut of his sixth album, “ALL THAT ECHOES,” before its official release on Feb. 5 with Reprise Records. The live one-hour concert is the latest installment of the HSN concert series, which has featured successful record launches from artists such Lionel Richie, Mary J Bilge, Rod Stewart, Tony Bennett and a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

“I’m really looking forward to performing songs from my new album for the HSN audience!” Groban said in a canned statement. “The HSN Live platform gives me the chance to engage my fans in a new and exciting way.”

Groban in 2007 was charted as the best-selling artist in the United States with over 21 million records sold. To date, he has sold over 25 million records worldwide and is the top-selling classical artist.

Raspy Rod Stewart Breaks Records With 30,000 CDs Sold On HSN

Raspy rocker Rod Stewart still has it.

Stewart’s return to HSN last week broke music sales records at the home shopping network, selling nearly 30,000 copies of his first-ever holiday CD, “Merry Christmas, Baby,” before its official release this week.

Stewart surpassed the previous sales record he set at HSN in 2010 with his exclusive debut of “Fly Me To The Moon: Volume V,” selling 26,000 CDs on the day of launch. He continues to be the biggest-selling music artist on HSN.

With missed it last Friday, but Stewart apparently performed on “a beautifully decorated, holiday-themed set that even included snow fall during Rod’s lively performance of ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’,” according to HSN’s press release Wednesday.

A 20-piece orchestra led by 16-time Grammy Award®-winning composer, arranger and music producer David Foster accompanied Stewart as he performed holiday tunes and entertained viewers on HSN TV, HSN.com, Facebook, HSN Mobile and via Skype.

“Rod is the ultimate entertainer and we congratulate him on another record-breaking debut on HSN,” Andy Sheldon, HSN’s executive vice president of television, live events and creative, said in a canned statement. “The natural camaraderie between Rod and David made for a fun-filled and festive live concert event that was enjoyed by all.”

HSN is doing a tribute to the late music legend, and fellow New Jersey native, Whitney Houston, the home shopping network said Wednesday.

“HSN Live Presents Whitney Houston’s Greatest Hits” will premiere Nov. 5 at 11 p.m.

Music industry power and Houston’s friend and advisor, Clive Davis, will appear on HSN to give his first network interview regarding Whitney since her passing in February, according to the network.

“Through his compelling stories and unique insight, HSN will celebrate the life and talent of this amazing artist,” HSN said in a press release.

The special event will also feature an interview with legendary producer David Foster, who will discuss with Houston on such hits as “I Will Always Love You,” “I Have Nothing” and “Run To You,” among others. HSN said it will pay tribute to Houston with songs, music videos, and photographs, as well as television and film clips.
