Buyer Beware: QVC’s $70 Himalayan Salt Lamps

QVC has a lot of chutzpah.

The No. 1 home shopping network has started to sell Himalayan salt lamps, one of our favorite New-Agey items. We have three, and have given many of as gifts.

QVC is charging $70 for a 11-inch lamp.

News to consumers: You can pick up small ones for $16 and enormous ones for $25 to $29 in outlets like TJ Maxx and Home Goods.

What the hell, QVC?

I’ve learned to look other places. Do you remember when they had a brand of purses called Medallion? Found them for sale a Pharmhouse( out of business). You can get Temptations at Buddy’s Small Lots. Go on the Dooley and Bourke website and you’ll find they have an easy pay plan and they don’t charge shipping and handling over $100(not sure of amount but it will save you at least $12). Speaking of D&B once l found a former TSV at TJ Max at a substantially lower price. I could go on…

How do you know the cheaper ones are made from real Himalayan salt or is a counterfeit?

QVC prices and shipping have gotten terrible. I realize a lot of folks live in areas with limited shopping however there are great online shopping sites now. Zappos my personal favorite no shipping either way and the carry Vionic, Dooney and many other brands they carry on Q. You can also order from T.J. Max online and Shoe Buy another great one. You can find sites that also charge no sales tax. QVC almost obsolete. They refuse to be competitive.

what do you do with a salt lamp? lick it maybe? by the way, if you live anywhere near a qvc outlet, the prices are great. check
it out on line under “retail stores”.

Just par for the course—-QVC is repetitive with what they show on their programs, I think it’s down to 15 items, and their shows are primarily to show and re-show the TSV several times, all they seem to show is beauty products and even expanded beauty to Beauty IQ—how many cosmetics can women use???? QVC’s prices have become uncompetitive–especially clothes…..their sales and revenues keep decreasing yet executives scratch their head and wonder why….to quote an ex-QVC host—-AMAZING!!!
