Latina Designer Cenia Paredes Coming To HSN

June 12, 2016

AcHSN, the home shopping network that makes the most effort to target women of color, is adding a little more Latin flava.

Fashion designer Cenia Paredes, who is Dominican, is bringing her Cenia Fit apparel collection to HSN, the New York Daily News reported last week.

She will debut June 24 with a line that she says is tailored for the bodies of Dominican — or dare we say some Hispanic — women have, namely pear-shaped.

That is different than the mass-market fashions made for women with hourglass figures, she is quoted as saying.

Maybe her clothes will actually fit us. (Actually, we just noticed that her clothes come in regular fit and “Cenia Fit,” which is for curvier gals.)

Cenia trumpeted the fact that she is coming to HSN on her company’s Facebook page, which has many photos of her sheath dresses.

Some of them are already available on HSN.com.

QVC ‘Super Saturday’ Ovarian Cancer Benefit Coming

June 9, 2016

QVC is revving up for its Left Coast event this Saturday, its “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” from lovely Santa Monica in Cali.

The home shopping network will broadcast live from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET its annual designer charity sale to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA), the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while helping women and their families.

During the two-hour event, premier fashion, beauty and jewelry will be offered for half the the manufacturer’s suggested retail price, with 80 percent of the purchase price of donated merchandise benefiting OCRFA.

This year designer deals from brands such as Philosophy, H by Halston, Josie Maran, Isaac Mizrahi Live!, C. Wonder and Dooney & Bourke will be featured.

“We are proud to join forces with OCRFA for the 10th consecutive year. Super Saturday has provided us with a platform to increase awareness of this horrible disease,” Rachel Ungaro, QVC’s vice president of fashion and beauty merchandising, said in a canned statement.

“QVC is committed to supporting the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships and together with OCRFA we are able to support this mission and raise valuable funds for research and patient support programs.”

The event is being held at the Barker Hangar, with fat-mouthed actress and “RHOBH” pot-stirrer Lisa Rinna live on the red carpet interviewing celebrity attendees.

“On-site, QVC will be transforming its space into a virtual reality experience and lounge area that ties into this year’s location and will be providing visitors with a simulated flight experience complete with two vintage mini cockpits,” QVC said in its press release. “Viewers will also be able to catch a glimpse of the activation throughout the broadcast.”

QVC will be live streaming the event on Facebook as part of the #KeepinItTeal social media campaign, videos of celebrities and QVC designers will be featured to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer.

Viewers will also be encouraged to share the videos on their social media platforms and explain why and for whom they are #KeepinItTeal.

To help raise awareness for this year’s broadcast, E!’s Fashion Police style-savvy friends Brad Goreski and Melissa Rivers appeared in both the print and television public service announcements to help expose the cause across the country.

“Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest diseases women face and more needs to be done to raise awareness and funds,” said Audra Moran, OCRFA’s president and CEO. “QVC’s Super Saturday broadcast has been a tremendous help in spreading OCRFA’s message into millions of homes across the U.S.”

“QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE” has generated more than $10.3 million since 2007. Often going undiagnosed in the early stages due to lack of an early detection test, ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth-leading cause of cancer death among American women.

HSN Vendor Heidi Daus And ‘Montclair Blue’

June 7, 2016

A belated shout-out to HSN jewelry vendor Heidi Daus for her shout-out to our hometown, Montclair, N.J.

During the network’s three-day “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” Daus mentioned Montclair.

She was talking about her $220 “American Icon” crystal-swag necklace with pretty blue stones. Daus described about working in a local store, in Montclair, as part of a college internship.

“I live in a town called Montclair, and its’ a very ,very lovely suburb of New York,” Daus said. “A very lovely wealthy town.”

We are not among the rich residents, by the way.

At the store, she said, “My boss would call this Montclair blue … If it was that color he would buy it and bring it into the store because he knew the ladies would love it … It looks well on everybody.”

We’ve only recently become bigger fans of the color blue, and maybe we’ll have to try Montclair blue.

Randi Zuckerberg Joins HSN for American Dreams Initiative

Randi Zuckerberg is partnering with HSN to find innovative entrepreneurs as part of HSN’s American Dreams series, beginning June 2016

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., June 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Leading entertainment and lifestyle retailer, HSN, is collaborating with New York Times bestselling author, Founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media and digital lifestyle expert Randi Zuckerberg, to discover new entrepreneurs as part of HSN’s American Dreams initiative. American Dreams was launched in August 2013 to support passionate entrepreneurs as they introduce innovative products to the marketplace.

“Randi’s eye for innovation and knowledge of the consumer industry will bring an integral new perspective to our American Dreams program,” said Bill Brand, president, HSN. “From her role as an early executive at Facebook, where she created and ran marketing programs, to her more recent position as host of the SiriusXM show “Dot Complicated,” Randi understands the importance of impactful content that drives disruption, especially within the retail space.”

Randi is familiar with how entertainment and commerce intersect. Randi will work directly with HSN’s team, leveraging her role as an angel investor on Oxygen’s Quit Your Day Job, to source America’s next great entrepreneurs and develop their brands, before introducing them to HSN’s 96 million homes. Randi’s passion for female entrepreneurs will also serve as an opportunity to bring dynamic new brands to HSN.

“I am so thrilled to be working with HSN,” said Zuckerberg. “I have been moved by the many HSN entrepreneurs who were empowered to turn their passion into a business, and can’t wait to help discover even more aspiring entrepreneurs with American Dreams.”

Randi will be joining HSN’s roster of current American Dreams entrepreneurs including: Daymond John, who finds entrepreneurs via ABC’s hit show Shark Tank; Marc Portney, who finds entrepreneurs via the Science Channel’s popular series All American Makers; Gregg Smith, who works with Edison Nation, the largest open innovation community and marketplace for independent inventors; Bob Circosta, who manages HSN’s “American Dreams Product Portal;” and Akos Jankura, who sources inventors through his My Cool Inventions radio talent search.

Prospective entrepreneurs can submit their product by visiting the American Dreams page on HSN at https://productsubmittal.hsn.net and following the submission instructions.

In her spare time, she is a mother of two kids and a Broadway actress.
