HSN Insiders Brand, Grossman Sell Stock

July 4, 2015

Several HSN honchos cashed in some of their stock recently, and we’d be buying a lot of Carole Brodie jewelry if we had the money they got in those transactions.

First, our buddy HSN President Bill Brand last week sold 3,000 shares for $211,410, according to the Insider Trading Report. The stock had been trading at $70.47 a share.

And HSN CEO Mindy Grossman last month sold 78,894 shares for a tidy $5,384,516. Those shares were trading at $68.25 when she sold them.

QVC Names Abercrombie Alum To New Biz Planning Group

July 2, 2015

QVC has poached a former exec at Abercrombie & Fitch, the struggling youth retailer, as senior vice president to lead its newly formed Business Planning & Analysis (BP&A) group.

Sanjay Singh will be “responsible for developing financial insights and driving integrated global business and financial planning across markets and functions to ensure QVC’s continued global growth and success,” the No. 1 home shopping channel said Wednesday.

He will report to Ted Jastrzebski, QVC’s chief financial officer and executive vice president of strategy.

“Sanjay has a demonstrated track record of leading financial strategy development and execution for several global retail and consumer product companies,” Jastrzebski said in a canned statement. “His breadth of international experience and financial expertise position him well to work cross-functionally at QVC to drive continued success across our global markets, while remaining focused on the customer.”

So what is this new unit at the network?

QVC’s BP&A group will leverage market information and global financial, business and operating metrics to create effective financial plans to strategically drive the business.

In his role, Singh will fully integrate business and strategic financial planning to create a more aligned end-to-end approach that drives efficiencies and maximizes organizational synergy.

Prior to QVC, Singh served as senior vice president of finance, at Abercrombie & Fitch, where he was responsible for the company’s strategic planning, real estate finance, franchising and capital.

Before that gig, he worked at Procter & Gamble for 22 years, moving progressively within the organization and throughout the world in senior financial leadership positions, several years of which were in the beauty care division.

Singh will be based at QVC’s headquarters in West Chester, Pa.

Ex-JTV Host Avi Vieira Resurfaces As Watch Rep On Evine Live

July 1, 2015

Former Jewelry Television host Avi Vieira has come back to where she once was: a watch ambassador on Evine Live, once ShopNBC.

Thanks to a tip from a reader, we learned that Vieira resurfaced on Evine Live Tuesday night as a rep for Watchstar timepieces.

“To me, she seems a little dry and stiff,” our tipster wrote. “I hope she’s enjoying it, but she doesn’t really seem to. Her LinkedIn page says that she went to work for the Knoxville Opera after leaving JTV.

Vieira quickly posted a response on our blog.

“Oh no!” she wrote, “I hate that I seemed stiff. Sadly, I literally was, being that I pinched a nerve in my back and can barely move my neck. I guess skydiving for my birthday wasn’t the best idea after all… I’m not as resilient as I once was. Haha!! I do indeed work for Knoxville Opera. I’m the Develpment Manager there. I feel so blessed to be able to work for a non-profit and support the arts! Thanks for watching the show! :-)”

Ironically, Vieira had been a a rep for a watch vendor for then ShopNBC, before she joined JTV as a host. But her tenure wasn’t that long at the Knoxville home shopping channel.

We didn’t catch her presentation, but the Watchstar pieces looked gorgeous.
