ShopHQ Reels In ‘Deadliest Catch’ Seafood Products

December 3, 2014

ShopHQ, making use of its ties to reality TV guru Thom Beers and continuing its bid to appeal to men, is launching a line of products inspired by “Deadliest Catch.”

Captain Sig Hansen will be a special guest Friday for the premiere of the food-based show, which will feature seafood and other items inspired by the Original Productions series, which airs on Discovery Channel.

DEADLIESTCATCH2222

The segment is the first of several new proprietary brands the home shopping network will present as it repositions ShopHQ as EVINE Live, with the complete rebranding planned to take place in the first half of next year.

“Deadliest Catch,” the creation of former ShopHQ board member Beers, is about the dangerous lives of crab fisherman out on the Bering Sea.

Inspired by the reality series, ShopHQ will feature seafood and other kitchen and cookware items as part of the network’s “Deadliest Catch” collection.

Hansen, captain of the Northwestern, will share his own personal stories and close calls during filming of “Deadliest Catch.” Fans of “Deadliest Catch” will also have the opportunity to interact and connect live with Hansen during a social chat hosted on ShopHQ’s Facebook page at 9 pm ET.

“Being on a crab boat in the middle of the Bering Sea, you face all kinds of challenges — 20 degree weather and an icy deck on a rolling ship. It’s a brutal place,” Hansen said in a canned statement. “But braving the elements is worth it, since the best fresh caught crab in the world comes from there. I can’t wait to bring it to homes across America through the new ‘Deadliest Catch’ seafood line at ShopHQ.”

“It’s exciting for us to bring the thrill of Discovery Channel’s ‘Deadliest Catch’ to our ShopHQ viewers,” ShopHQ CEO Mark Bozek said. “As the first ‘EVINE Live Presents’ brand to debut since we announced the repositioning of ShopHQ, ‘Deadliest Catch’ and captain Sig Hansen will no doubt entertain our customers. Viewers will not only get a glimpse of what it’s like to risk it all on a crab ship on the Bering Sea, but will discover exclusive show-inspired items not available anywhere else.”

FremantleMedia North America serves as the licensing agent for “Deadliest Catch.” The show recently completed its 10th season and won a 2014 Emmy Award for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program.

QVC Alum Kathy Levine Joining Pam McCoy On ShopHQ

December 3, 2014

Well, there’s plenty shaking in the home shopping world in Minnesota: Not only is Pam McCoy returning to ShopHQ, ex-QVC host Kathy Levine is joining that cold crew.

Levine, known for her love of “big honker” jewelry when she was on QVC, appeared in a video clip on ShopHQ Tuesday night to announce that she was coming to the network, soon-to-be-rebranded as Evine Live, as a “roving reporter.”

She made it clear that she is not going to be a host.

Then, bitch claimed that she had her first scoop for Evine Live, that former ShopHQ host and vendor McCoy was coming back to ShopHQ/Evine Live with a clothing line.

Girlfriend, we already blogged that! You ain’t got no scoop!

McCoy appeared in the video, as well. She comes to ShopHQ Dec. 12 and 13, and frankly seemed a bit put off by Levine’s fat mouth. So were we.

Is Pamela McCoy Returning To ShopHQ?

December 1, 2014

We can’t claim to know the inside dish but speculation is booming that ex-ShopHQ host and vendor Pamela McCoy is heading back to Minnesota.

McCoy and her hubby Wes were a staple host duo on ShopHQ, which we think was ShopNBC back then, until the couple’s abrupt exit. Pamela came back as a vendor with coats, and then moved on to Jewelry Television with a diamond line. But it fizzled out.

But on McCoy’s Facebook page there is talk of her return to the No. 3 home shopping network.

“(ShopHQ host) Kendy is wearing one of your jackets today and said it is not available but maybe something might be happening soon. Said she could not say more. Why is it still such a secret that you are returning to ShopHQ?” one person posted.

Others chimed in:

“Shop HQ confirmed!!!! YES”

“I used to watch you and Wes on ShopHQ..I then moved and couldn’t get channel now I can and you are gone…I was always wanting one of your fauxfur hooded coats…can you please tell me where I can shop for your clothing? Thank you”

“Yes, please tell us where to find your collection?”

“Very cryptic but your secret is out.”

We ordered one of McCoy’s faux fur coats once and to say we were disappointed would be a huge understatement. Maybe it was part of a bad batch, but it shed all over our carpet when we put it on. We have never seen anything like it.
