Minaj, NeNe And The Shaq: What Do They Have In Common?

HSN is going to party-hardy for its 37th birthday, bringing us such polarizing celebs as hip-hop artist Nicki Minaj, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality star NeNe Leakes and Melissa Gorga of the Jersey “Housewives.” Shaquille O’Neal will even be in the house.

We don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The month-long home shopping shindig will include a $50,000 jewelry giveaway, which sounds like a great idea to us. Hundreds of baubles, ranging from fine gold and gemstones to fashion statement pieces will be awarded weekly via the HSN Arcade at HSN.com, the network said in a press release Tuesday.

On July 11, “fashion and beauty vanguard, global entertainer and multi-platform recording artist Nicki Minaj will once again push beauty industry boundaries with the exclusive launch of her latest fragrance MINAJESTY Nicki Minaj Exotic Edition on HSN,” the network said.

A  new version of the Nicki Minaj fragrance is coming to HSNio

Here is something we will be sure to miss: a 24-hour Craft Event featuring Martha Stewart.

On July 28, “your favorite housewives will make HSN their new home for style,” according to HSN’s press release.

Leakes will introduce NENE LEAKES, her exclusive new fashion line for HSN. Gorga will also make her official debut on HSN with an exclusive line of fashion jewelry.

NBA great turned entrepreneur Shaquille O’Neal will cap off the month on July 31 with a special appearance on HSN to present new innovations from Monster.

    All I can say is that this is great news for ShopHQ because I am sure I wont’ be the only one who isn’t interested. Hopefully they will have some really strong programming planned.

    Not sure what to make of this, would not buy anything from the ‘Housewives’ since neither of them seems to have any class/style on the shows they are on, or that creepy looking bottle of perfume, Shaq, seems like a decent guy but, not for Home Shopping, but, then again, I have only bought once this year from HSN and that was clearance.

    HSN has sold their collective soul to the DEVIL. I haven’t watched HSN or QVC over the last year-plus because I don’t have a TV, but OMFG/WTF??? Minaj can’t sing or rap to save her soul and her music is annoying; NeNe Leakes scoring the cover of Ebony (while Michelle Obama’s husband was running for a second term) is an image I will never be able to shake. Shaq is a retired basketball star who’s brand is dying on the vine. If this is an attempt by HSN to gain the African American market, it is a brazenly stupid move…and yet, seeing how people are stupid enough to buy Minaj’s sorry excuses for music…

    Ugh. You couldn’t pay me enough to put a hideous piece of junk like that perfume bottle on my dresser. If it smells like it looks, you could probably use it to fumigate your house for fleas.

    I think HSN is really trying to attract women of color to their network. Serena Willams, Carol’s Daughter, Queen Latifah, etc. They certainly pull in the younger, more hip viewer than the Q. I’m not personally impressed with this line up, but hey, what do I know?!

    And on another note, I think it is wonderful that HSN is able to get someone as big as Martha Stewart on the air to sell her wares. She’s full of knowledge, well spoken, educated, and has a wealth of information and experience to share. Kudos to HSN and Martha.
