QVC Names Two Senior Vice Presidents: Demand A Raise, Guys

QVC promoted two executives to senior vice president positions Monday, in digital commerce and TV production and operations. We hope QVC Chief Claire Watts gave you a big raise, guys!

Alex Miller was named senior vice president of digital commerce. He will continue to report to Mary Campbell, QVC senior vice president of multichannel platforms, but will now be responsible for the customer experience across the home shopping network’s Web, mobile, tablet, and social platforms.

“As a world leading multimedia retailer, QVC delivers a shopping experience that is perfectly aligned with the megatrends that are reshaping the retail industry today,” Campbell said in a canned statement. “Alex’s deep understanding of customer behavior and his analytical skills enable us to optimize the QVC shopping experience across our highly tailored mobile, tablet and interactive TV platforms and strengthen our multichannel offering.”

In his new role, Miller is responsible for developing the customer experience strategy across all QVC digital platforms. This includes accountability for eCommerce sales, digital experience and operations, and QVC’s social shopping business. QVC’s eCommerce business has grown steadily year over year, currently accounting for 42 percent of U.S. revenue in the second quarter.

Since joining QVC in 2001, Miller climbed up the network’s ranks in Internet sales, off-air and on-air programming, and eMarketing groups. He has championed numerous multichannel initiatives to create a more engaging shopping experience for the QVC customer and led the development and implementation of a new eCommerce platform. He also played a key role in the integration of recent QVC acquisitions, and is leading the launch of QVC’s new social media platform, toGather.

Dave Caputo was promoted to the post of senior vice president of TV production and operations. Caputo will assume his new role immediately, overseeing QVC’s television production needs, and continues to report to Campbell.

“As a top retail destination, QVC is always raising the bar on the customer experience to surprise, delight and exceed expectations,” Campbell said. “Dave’s commitment to enhancing the QVC customer experience and track record of driving strong results are unparalleled in the industry. Dave operates with a relentless focus on the customer, and I am thrilled to welcome him into his new role, and confident he will continue to be a strong force in driving our business forward.”

In his new role, Caputo will oversee QVC’s TV production, technical broadcast and studio management and support services, leading the development and execution of the function’s overall business plans, policies, practices and relationships with vendors.

Caputo has been with QVC for more than 20 years, holding various management positions within the network’s broadcasting operations.

He most recently served as vice president of TV production and operations. Caputo’s experience in technical operations and leadership in production made him instrumental in launching a multichannel master control and network operations center, in addition to implementing a social ticker graphic package to provide a more impactful shopping experience for QVC customers.

Instead of giving Dave Caputo a promotion, they should fire him. Since he was put in charge of how the shows are done. The shows have become hard to shop. The fashion shows are the worse to try and watch with the models and camera angles being at a distance and then having the models and cameras constantly moving. The Susan Graver shows and PM Style are very difficult to watch. The LRS the graphics they know are difficult they are to read, but the producer wants the show to be different…that is what Amy Stran said in one of the fb chats for the show. When someone complained about the graphics.

QVC is raising the bar to surprise, delight, and exceed customer expectations, and a relentless focus on the customer….your kidding, your joking QVC….right? QVC has gone down on quality and their redundant product mix of Dyson, Dell, HP, Orthaheel, Clarks, Serta, Vitamix, Ninja, Wen, Susan Graver has customers turning to other shopping channels and retailers! Claire has one focus or more like an OBESSION social media which does not seem to be translating into sales…..if they hadnt raised their prices they would have had a net loss and units sold continue to go down! WAKE UP QVC!

Well it is fairly simply the leadership at the company is relatively new, they foster a environment where innovation is stifled. They are stretched by reaching to international markets without sufficient oversight and as a result the core US market suffers. And most importantly they are more interested in getting as much compensation for themselves before they themselves are gone. Leadership comes from the top as they say and QVC has weak leadership with zero vision.
