The newspaper we work for, The Record of North Jersey, just wrote an obit on watchmaker Marcel Drucker, who was described as a man “who was familiar to viewers of the QVC shopping channel.”
We’ve been watching QVC for years, and don’t have the foggiest notion of who Drucker is. Does anyone remember him?
Anyway, Drucker was a Fort Lee, N.J., resident who passed away last Sunday from complications of diabetes. He was 86.
Drucker, born in Romania, founded Marcel Watch Corp. and also made watches under the Oleg Cassini name, according to the obituary.
In the late 1990s, Drucker came to TV, apparently selling watches on QVC.
In interviews, Drucker said he relished interacting with viewers and that producing enough wares for QVC was challenging. He said he was expected to sell from $500,000 to $700,000 worth of watches an hour, The Record reported.
