Must every fashion designer expand their “brand,” one our our most hated words, to create home collections?
Apparently, the ones one home shopping networks do.
We peeked at QVC afte midnight to check out the Today’s Special Value, and saw it was a $50 faux fur throw from Dennis Basso (a New Jersey boy). Basso has a new home line for QVC, which includes faux fur rugs, bedding, pillows and candles.
Isaac Mizrahi, of course, is doing not only apparel and accessories for QVC but also a home line.
And jewelry wizard Robert Lee Morris did a home line for QVC, mostly dishes, that didn’t seem to get much traction.
Basso has a lot going on. The New York Post’s Page Six reported on Halloween that Basso was going to be marrying his partner of 20 years, Michale Cominotto, at the swank Pierre in Manhattan next month.
There was a bridal wedding shower for the couple recently at Le Cirque.
According to the Post, Basso’s nuptials will be the first same-sex marriage in the 81-year history of the Pierre.
