Second Tragedy: QVC Quacker Factory Queen Jeanne Bice’s Daughter Dies Just Weeks After Her Mom

This news is so shocking we literally can’t believe it. And thanks to our posters for bringing it to our attention.

Jeanne Bice’s daughter, Lee Bice, 47, died July 1, almost a month after the death of her beloved mother. Jeanne died of cancer June 10.

It of course makes us think that the tragedy of losing her mom, the queen of Quacker Factory. killed her, broke her heart.

Lee Bice

And that is exactly what Lee’s brother said, according to Angel Smedley, who often represented Quacker factory on QVC.

“Tim & his wife said it was from a broken heart,” Smedley posted. “That is all I know.”

The Quacker Factory website has a photo of Lee, which simply says, “Terry Lee Bice, February 17, 1964 – July 1, 2011.”

Apparently, QVC has not acknowledged that Lee, who often appeared on-air with her mom, has passed away.

Here is what one woman posted on QVC’s community boards:

I ask that you please acknowledge the passing of Jeanne’s daughter Lee in the same professional manner you did when Jeanne passed only a few short weeks ago.

She was an integral part of the Quacker Factory and a special on air “guest” personality during shows in the past few years…

This is a shocking, double loss for the Bice family and friends in such a short time.

Prayers are sent to their families and friends during this difficult time…
Together, Jeanne and Lee will sparkle the heavens for all to see, as the night sky has two new stars above us all…

Bless you both… thank you for years of Quacker happiness!

What shocking news. Even though I have tuned in to QVC many times during the last weeks I had not heard that Jeanne Bice had passed. I had heard her give some information regarding her illness approx a month, or so, before her death. I only learned of her passing last night, and was very stunned.
I can recall seeing her daughter on air several times. So this is just such shocking news- to have heard of Jeanne’s passing only last night… then in about 24 hours time to hear of the death of her daughter. I am so sad; and will miss so much seeing Jeanne on QVC. I was expecting to see her tomorrow or Monday on Quacker Factory. And was searching online last night, only to make the sad discovery.
My most sincere condolences to the family, and loved ones .
So difficult to know what to say.

  22. JAM Says:

I am in utter shock and disbelief and immense sadness?

I didn’t even know Jeanne and Lee were ill? I don’t feel like I can properly grieve bc I did not know they were ill to pray for their improved health and life. I will miss them. They are angels on earth and now in heaven.

I feel just awful asking this…what did each pass from?

I never knew they were ill. I am angry I didn’t know to send them extra, extra, extra well wishes and tons of prayers. I feel just so terribly sad and guilty for not knowing

If anyone could answer my very personal questions, I’d appreciate it. I feel like knowing more about their passings might help me to get over the shock and total disbelief and help me to grieve. I am sorry if this upsets anyone. That is my absolute last wish. I’m trying to cope!

    • homeshoppingista Says:

Jeanne died of cancer, and I think it may have been ovarian cancer. The family hasn’t commented on Lee’s cause of death.

    • Judy Says:

I Googled Jeanne’s death, and it reported that she died from uterine cancer. I have not heard what caused Lee’s death. Didn’t know about it until a few minutes ago in an email from a friend.

Goodbye sweet Lee, now there are 2 more wonderful angles in heaven. Our hearts go out to the family. Please know how many lives these lovely ladies touched and how we will always smile when we think of them.

  28. Mary Says:

Just learned of Jeanne and Lee’s passing. Heartbroken. She will always bring a smile to us. The very first time I watched her she was talking about being comfortable with being a large lady and came up with a line I have quoted often – a Jeanne classic – “If you can’t lose it, decorate it!”

  29. gina stano Says:

just wondering what god looks like in sequins and sparkle im sure jeanne and lee have her looking fabulous love and prayers to tim and the bice family

  30. Kathleen Says:

I was so saddened by Jeanne’s passing. I always enjoyed watching her on QVC. She was one of the most special women on QVC. Also, the tragedy of Lee, her daughter passing. I just found out watching QVC. There are two very fine women in Heaven looking down on all the Quacker Factory shoppers. I will remember both Jeanne and Lee with great memories. I will miss watching them on QVC.

  31. PATSY LEMASTER Says:

Im surely schocked to hear about Lee Bice death. I FEEL AS THOUGH QVC OWES IT TO ALL OF QUACKER FACTORY CUSTOMERS THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO LEE. I ALSO FEEL LIKE QUACKER FACTORY MADE ALOT OF MONEY FOR QVC AND FOR THEM NOT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR QF FAMILY IS A TRAGEDY AND I SHOW OF RUDENESS AND GREED ON QVC. IT GOES TO SHOW THAT MONEY IS THE ROOT OFALL EVIL. SHAME ON YOU QVC. YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER.

    • Blondygirl Says:

They have already said that the family has not wanted to say what the cause of Lee’s death was. Give the family a chance to grieve and dont blame it on the Q!

    • A Loyal Customer Says:

TO ALL OF YOU THAT THINK QVC OWES ANYONE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS, A REASON FOR ANYONES DEATH IS RIDICULOUS! YOU’RE JUST DOWNRIGHT RUDE & OBNOXIOUS! I’M SURE THAT YOU THREATENING TO QUIT SHOPPING AT THE Q, BECAUSE THEY WON’T DIVULGE THIS INFORMATION, YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR HEAD EXAMINED! PATSY LEMASTER SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED A SHRINK TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON! WHO GIVES A SHIT IF YOU NO LONGER SHOP AT THE Q. YOU SOUND LIKE A FREAKING STALKER. ARE YOU THAT INSENSITIVE TO A FAMILY THAT’S OBVIOUSLY IN MOURNING? TRY BEING SPORTIVE OF THIS FAMILY INSTEAD OF BEING A COMPLETE IDIOT, OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE NO COMMON SENSE. YOU SOUND LIKE A BUSY BODY WITH NO TIME ON YOUR HANDS.BUTT OUT, WHO CARES IF YOU QUIT SHOPPING WITH THE Q. I DON’T THINK YOU’LL BE MISSED.
      DIANA, IN CALIFORNIA

    • Bernie Wilczynski Says:

Good for you,Patsy! I feel the same way. after all we spend a lot of money on QVC. I don’t like all the bling, but some of the clothes are reasonable. So
I order because she has the right fit, especially for short people. I also order because of the different neck lines. Round makes the neck look bigger as angel used to say . A collar also covers that and three quarter sleeves cover large arms. Thank you Jeanne forever. I used to enjoy Jean so much! What a great loss. We can still pray for her soul ,as well as her daughter’s.

      You are the insensitive one,California.
      Think about your comments.

  32. Margaret Faulner Says:

Wow, I just heard on QVC via someone calling in saying “they were saddened of the loss of Jean and now her daughter.” I almost past out, had not heard this sad news about Lee so jumped on the internet and fund a story from Jeanne’s hometown Ripkin, Wi. said not details of Lee’s passing. Memorial service for both of them to be July 23rd. in Ripkin……… What a shock….. ):

  33. Carol Says:

Both Angel and Jacque Gonzales addressed that Lee Bice had passed away. My sympathies to the Bice family. I hope that QF will still continue.

  34. linda disk Says:

  35. HooDatIS? Says:

    this is so sad
    she had an amazing smile
    rest in peace

  36. Lynda Says:

Like most of the QF customers, I am in shock over the death of Lee Bice, especially so close to the death of her mother. Only God knows why. For those QVC customers who feel they should have a personal announcement, by QVC, as to the cause of death, get a grip!!! This is a very private thing and not a right, unless the family authorizes them to do so. Can you say lawsuit? This does not indicate greed on their part to abide by the privacy laws.

  37. MaryLou Schlichtig Says:

This is just so sad. Angel and Shawn did a lovely job last night of mentioning Lee’s death along with their fond memories of our Jeanne. And I commend QVC for their 4 shows last week which were peppered with tears and fond memories, shots of Jeanne and even some video. It really helped me in my grieving process, and I thank QVC for being so “real” with us, and I pray for all the QVC associates who have a much larger hole in their hearts than any of us Quackers have.

  38. Dorie Gilliam Says:

So msad to lose both of these wonderful women. Still expect to see them back on air. Hard to think of them both gone, from this earth.
But know they are up in heaven. We will see them again.
We know jeanmie died of cancer. But no idea of why Lee passed too?
Wish QVC had posted a thing for Lee too. She was always a huge
part of QF. And will be missed too. And so young to leave this world.
Prayers for Tim and his family.
So glad Angel is here to carry on.
    Quack Quack and blessings-Dorie Gilliam

  39. JOYCE GRAYSON Says:

SO SAD, WE CAN NOT STOP THINKING ABOUT JEANNE AND NOW LEE. MY MOM AND I CAN RELATE TO THE CLOSENESS OF A MOTHER AND DAUGHTER. HEAVEN WILL SPARKEL AND SHINE AND SO WILL ALL THE QUACKERS. IT WILL NOT BE THE SAME WITHOUT JEANNES LAUGHTER AND SMILE. OUR SYMPATHY TO THE BICE FAMILY.

  40. Diana Ciaccia Says:

I AM SADDEN BY THE NEWS OF LEE,JUST SO SOON AFTER HER MOTHER PASSED. MY HEARTS GO OUT TO TIM AND ANGLE IS WAS A REAL BLOW TO THEM. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM BOTH AND TOO ALL OUR QUACKERS THAT FEEL THE PAIN. I WILL WEAR HER CLOTHES WITH PROUDNESS FOREVER
    LOVE
    DIANA

  41. Lorna Plourde Says:

So very sorry to hear of this tragic news ‘ again’…May God help Tim and his family through this life altering event and help him be strong. Also, my condolenses to the QVC family as they have lost a loved one too.

  42. Vicki Manker Says:

I cannot believe the sorrow for Tim and his family at the loss of first his Mom and then his only sister. I feel that I knew Jeanne and her wonderful ways. Her smiles and her joy of life was so wonderful. I hope that we can always remember both Jeanne and Lee and that in time we can smile again. This has weighed heavy on my heart like it is for so many others. Quack, quack Jeanne
    Quack, quack Lee Love, Vicki

  43. Audrey Edwards Says:

So so sorry to hear about the passing of Jeanne’s daughter Lee. This is very hard for Tim to deal with losing both his Mom and Sister.
God has a reason for everything. We just have to keep the faith.
I just know that Jeanne and Lee are Quacking and Quacking up above.
    Audrey

  44. Zia Says:

I find it tragic that QVC has ignored this. There have been several reports of her death being a suicide due to the intense grief of losing her mother which makes me wonder if that is the reason QVC has remained mum. Regardless of how she died she deserves to be acknowledged and I’m shocked they have not mentioned it.

    • A Loyal Customer Says:

@ ZIA, YOU ALSO ARE A BUSYBODY, INCONSIDERATE, IDIOT! HOW DARE YOU SAY SHAME ON THE Q! DEATH OF A LOVED ONE IS TRAGIC ENOUGH, BUT FOR YOU TO ASSUME OR EVEN POST ANYTHING REGARDING A SUICIDE IS JUST DOWNRIGHT LOW CLASS! NO ONE OWES YOU OR ANYONE ELSE AN EXPLANATION! HAVE JUST ONE OUNCE OF RESPECT FOR THE FAMILY. I’M SURE IF THIS WAS YOUR FAMILY YOU SURE AS HECK WOULD NOT WANT SOMETHING SO TRAGIC POSTED OR ANNOUNCED TO THE WORLD! IT JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW UNTHOUGHTFUL AND UNCOUTH YOUR AND ALL OTHERS ARE POSTING SUCH RIDICULOUS THINGS! INSTEAD OF BEING SO NOSY TRY SOME EMPATHY FOR THIS FAMILY & CLOSE FRIENDS. GET A LIFE, BECAUSE IT’S OBVIOUS YOU AND SOME OF THE OTHERS POSTING DO NOT HAVE ONE!
      DIANA IN CALIFORNIA

  45. Marian Cichy Says:

i couldn’t sleep last night upon hearing the horrible news of jeanne bice’s passing…she was truly a shining star–now in the heavenly skies!! RIP beautiful jeanne!!! ” (

  46. Beverly Chastain Says:

So, sorry to hear of the grief this family has went through in the past few months. I believe God doesn’t give us more than we can handle if we only cling to him. God bless them for their much needed work. They made it so nice, they are missed.

  47. Judy Brown Testerman Says:

Tim & family, My heart & prayers goes out to all of you. May GOD comfort you.
    Love & Prayers,

  48. Jan Treibachs Says:

I was truly shocked to learn of the passing of Jeanne and Lee. I have many Quacker clothes and everytime I wear them, I get compliments. Now, everytime I wear one, I will think of Jeanne. She is making the heavens sparkle and shine for us to see! Prayers to the family. Jeanne, you are truly missed

    Jan

  49. Bonnie Clay Says:

So sorry I was never able to tell Jeanne how much joy she gave me. Her sweet spirit was infectious! Until I found QF through someone wearing a beautiful pink jacket with a rhinestone zipper I was unable to find glamorous clothes in a larger size. I’ll love her forever for that! Thank you Angel & all others for continuing to bless us with clothes that make us Happy. It is still painful to think of Jeanne & Lee, but Angel & QF have softened the pain! Prayers to Tim & Family for carrying the tourch.

  50. Linda M. Frinzi Says:

I am so saddened by the loss of Jeanne and her Daughter Lee. I just found out nw Aug 27, two months later. I was wondering where Jean was and why I kept seeing ANGEL fill in. I’m in shock. I hope Qvc continues Jeannes’ line of clothing there is nnothing else like it on the Q. It would be a shame to end it. But I guess the final decision will be made by jeannes’ family and QVC. Please continur her line, Angel is doing a marvelous job. My sympathies go out to the family for the loss of Jeanne and Lee, May They Rest in Peace. God has two new Sparkling Angels!!!!!!!

  51. Bobbi Says:

I heard it on QVC when they had something they were dedicating in Lee’s name….one time only shirt that was a tribute to Lee…

  52. Bobbi Says:

they did on QVC….they dedicated a shirt to Lee in memory of her, I saw it and that is what alerted me to the fact something had happened

  53. Bobbi Says:

They most certainly did do a remembrance to Lee…they did a shirt that they dedicated to her….that is what alerted me to the fact she had died — this is my third posting….the others said I didn’t give a correct email address to check but I did…so, I did this again, for the third time….don’t get angry at me for repeating myself…thank you and goodbye to two lovely people….GOD BLESS

  54. Bev Muehleisen Says:

My niece just notified me yesterday of Jeanne Bice’s passing. I was so shocked to hear about it; I didn’t even realize that she was ill. Then when we went online to check it out, we learned that her daughter had passed a few weeks later. Wow! that was another huge shock. My thoughts and prayers go out to Tim and the rest of their families. They both will be missed very much! My 7 year old niece just said to write that now they are both angels up with God!

  55. Jackie Says:

The world has lost two shining stars in a few short weeks. My prayers go out to Tim and his family. My mom passed away in June and I hope that she meets up with Jeanne and Lee. Though there is much sadness down here on earth, I believe that there is much joy in heaven. We Quackers send our love.

    Jackie

  56. jankay Says:

I just found out about Jeanne and her daughter, tonight. I am sad and shocked. I have so many beautiful things, so had not watched a lot, lately. As for cause of death, they were really celebrities/authors, so would not be unusual for people who admired them to be curious as to cause of death. I don’t find that inappropriate, more of a concern or memorializing of their lives.

  57. Teresa Cooper Harris Says:

Two angels in heaven. I was just informed of our dear friends passing. Jeanne and Terry Lee made this world a better place to be. They made us all better people. Memories we all will treasure in our hearts.

  58. Roseanne Mitchell Says:

Just learned about Jeanne and Lee. I was watching QVC because I saw that it was a Quacker Factor presentation. Angel was on and kept saying things like “Jeanne loved polka dots” and the like. I thought – hmm – this doesn’t sound good. I goggled Jeanne and found out she’d died more than 3 months ago! So, so sad. Then I noticed the information about the death of her daughter, Lee. Gosh – what a blow for their family. My heart goes out to them.
How did I miss all this? I thought Jeanne was a top notch gal along with being a great business woman and a wonderful soul. Quack, quack to you in heaven, Jeanne. Hope my mom is getting blinged out by Jeanne right now. Both were great ladies. Hope Lee has found peace. Wearing my Quacker Factory tops takes on a new meaning now. Thanks for the memories!

  59. Maureen Says:

I too just found out about Jeanne and her daughter Lee passing. While watching the show a few days ago I realized that I had only seen Angel and that she had talked about Jeanne in past tense. I was curious but really didn’t really think Jeanne had died. I was watching today during Quaker Factory and heard them mention that Jeanne was watching the show from heaven. I am so saddened to learn of both of thier deaths, so sorry for their family to lose both so close together. We all know that Heaven is that much brighter now! God Bless!

  60. vickie whitt Says:

rest in peace both ladies thank you for our beautiful clothing

  61. Mary Uyesugi Says:

    Oh-no. Oh no.
Many condolances to the family of Jeane and Lee Bice. It’s been 4 months and I just found out…
Jeane’s QVC personality was like no other. In fact- once when Quacker Factory was on, I called in and told who answered I wished some one would tell the host with her that day to be more quiet. Just let Jeane do all the talking I suggested. She was inspirational.

  62. Beth Whitlatch Says:

I just found out Jeanne & Lee both died, I am in shock they died so close together. Lee must have died of a broken heart! Heaven is a brighter place with these two beautiful angels! I can hear the angels all lining up sounding off Quack Quack! Rest In Peace!

  63. A Loyal Customer Says:

I don’t know where I have been but I just found out about Jeannes’ death tonight when the host mentioned and item by the last Jeanne Bice. This is so sad and I know she will be greatly missed by everyone at QVC and all her Quacker friends. \
I had not seen her daughter on the show but do send condolences to the family for the loss of a sister too. May God Bless them as I know they are still trying to get through this sad experience. I too hope the Quacker Factory line continues but of course this is a decision the family has to make as to whether they can handle her legacy. Angel is doing a very good job as other host are I am sure . So sorry I missed this announcement.

  67. Cindy Says:

Thought you might be interested in seeing a note from Tim Bice on the Quaker Factory website. I miss Jeanne and Lee so much, we all know it won’t quite be the same without them, but I know they would like us to continue quacking along and supporting their goals, ideals and clothing. Tim posted a beautiful link to Jeanne’s home. It is so stunning, I can just picture her at home, it is so warm and welcoming…just like Jeanne. Here is the link, it certainly helped me with closure. Thank you, Tim, for thinking of her many fans. We all send our love.

  76. Nanette Says:

So very sad to hear about the loss of such inspirational women. They were a blessing to us all.

  77. pinkie Says:

I never bought any of her clothes, although I have bought other items for QVC, but her smiling face, attitude and her designs for the larger size woman was incredible. God bless her and her family during this time of grief. I hadn’t realized she was gone, until I was reading these blogs on her. How sad, but she will be Heaven soon wearing her Quaker fashions once again………….

  78. cookie Says:

She was an inspiration to everyone that bought her clothes on QVC and in regular stores also. Her designs for the BBW woman was incredible! Her cute, little designs she placed on her clothes front and back were always adorable also. Even though she will be missed, I hope to see her in Heaven one day “Quacking and designing” her outfits for those in Heaven. May her company and designs continue on into the future……….

  79. Debbie Cavazos Says:

My deepest sympathy to your family. My sister in law had stage III B uterine/endometrial CA dive tears ago. She is a survivor of this horrible disease. May you ding peace in Gods loving hands! They both are now angels in Heaven! God bless you and your family!

  80. Rose Young-Stewart Says:

It was a suicide as Lees’ cause of death. It isnt something anyone should be ashamed of or ashamed to talk about. That is like saying well if you have AIDS then we will tell people you have leukemia. Tome, it takes a very strong person to take their own life. A lot try it but are unsuccessful. Let this matter be talked about by those who loved her and her clothing ideas and if anyone wants to talk openly about it, let them , please don’t downplay the cause of Lee’s death.

    • VIctoria SNow Says:

I agree, she was devastated at the loss of her wonderful Mother I am so sorry she didn’t have the help to see her through her grief. This tragedy should make us more understanding of suicide and speak of it openly.. People who commit suicide are in so much pain, we need to have more understanding and less shame.

  81. judy collins Says:

WOW, i thought i was up on things but just tonight found out lee also died, shortly after her beloved mother. i watched quacker shows many, many times and have many of their items. her daughter was a guest sometimes, and it was a joy to watch the two of them together. this is now a terrible tragedy. lee was much too young to die. she must have been inconsolable after losing her mother. i lost my father a year ago april and it still haunts me and i cry often so i empathize. hope lee is at peace now with her mom. quack, quack!

  82. carol shelton Says:

  83. Cathy Berry Says:

They both brought smiles guess God needed his angels to come home. Our loss. Prayers & Hugs to their family & friends.

  84. cindy Says:

I would always love to see mrs jeanne on qvc. Her clothing is nice. I will miss her and her daughter jeanne bice reminds me so much of my mom. …you both will be missed

  85. Shirley Says:

I too looked forward to seeing Jeanne Bice present her beautiful clothing with the best outlook on everything .
Her replacement really had no business talking so much about her wedding. Her shower, telling where she was registered and where. Thats a little TOO much. Surprised the head of Quacker Factory let that happen QVC was not the venue to promote gifts.

  86. Barbara Says:

Even tho we never met these ladies face-to-face, we feel a personal closeness and loss at their passing. They made many of us smile and will be missed. Pray for their family. This is an important lesson for all of us, that “life is short and death is sure”. This earth is not our home but only a trial period until heaven is earned by good living. FYI God created all the angels He wanted in the beginning of Creation. Those of us who make it to heaven will be blessed to become Saints, not angels. “It’s in The Book.”

  87. Margie Moreno Says:

My most heartfelt sympathy. I have just learned of the passing of Jeannie Brick and her daughter. I love the clothing Jeannie always came out with it was unique and lots of bling. May they rest in peace.
My sympathy to the remaining Brice family and may God give you the strength to carry on in Jeannie’s place.

  88. Jackie Lutz Says:

  89. Shaye stoops Says:

I noticed QVC had Genie rice on it and I kind of remembered from the past she passed away but then I noticed her daughter died recently after that is so traumatic kind of like Debbie Reynolds and her daughter God bless the family
