We don’t mind the nudity, violence, dirty language, deviant sex and masturbation that’s depicted in the premiere episode of FX’s “American Horror Story.”
The show was co-created by Ryan Murphy, the architect of FX’s sleazefest “Nip/Tuck”, after all (OK, Fox’s wholesome “Glee” is his, too).
But did Murphy have to diss home shopping, that cad, in the first episode of “American Horror Story,” which debuts tomorrow?
Murphy, looking to toy with the conventions of the horror genre, brings us the story of the troubled couple Ben and Vivien Harmon, played by Dylan McDermott, of “The Practice” fame, and Connie Britton, from “Friday Night Lights.”
They have moved from the East Coast to the Left Coast to try to mend their marriage after Vivien caught her husband in flagrante with a student in the marital bed. That kind of put a damper on the couple’s wedded bliss.
Needless, to say, the gothic house they moved into has an evil, murderous past. So that’s the set-up.
The Harmon’s new nextdoor neighbor is Constance, an evil Southern belle way past her prime, who is played by Jessica Lange.
At one point Constance just lets herself into the Harmons’ house, much to the shock and chagrin of Vivien.
When Constance gets a gander at the earrings Vivien is wearing, she asks, “Are those real diamonds, not that home shopping shit?”
Murphy, get a clue!
QVC, HSN and ShopNBC stopped becoming mere purveyors of cubic zirconia years and years ago, dude. Just ask vendors such as Robert Lee Morris, Judith Ripka, Stephen Dweck and soon, John Hardy.
By the way, “American Horror Story” lets us see McDermott’s bare butt lots of times. If that is him, not a body double.
And if you have a rubber fetish, you’re in for a treat with the guy in the black suit.

The worst American Horror Story is that the country is going downhill because of ridiculous political rhetoric & policies by President Obama.

And now they’ve made a hit about that, too. Realtor says “The housing market won’t improve until 2013, after we vote that bum out of office–” O_O

The jury is still out on this show, in my opinion.
